Northwest Elementary School Crafts Artwork In Honor Of Patriot Day

Students at Northwest Elementary School in Amityville teamed up with Saint Martin of Tours School to create patriotic artwork, which is now on

display at the town’s Sept. 11 vigils. The display was created to commemorate the lives lost that day including two community members. The artwork

was hung at both the September 11 Memorial Park on Broadway and at the Peter J. O’Neill Memorial Park on Bayview Avenue.

Residents Enjoy Music And Cuisine While Learning About Rich Italian-American History Of Town Saturday, October 14, 2023

In honor of ItalianAmerican Heritage Month, Town of Babylon Councilman Anthony Manetta, Town of Babylon Town Clerk Gerry Compitello and the Constantino Brumidi Lodge will host the Town of Babylon Italian Food Festival on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Attendees will learn about

Town of Babylon ItalianAmerican history in the Town board room, enjoy food vendors from across Long Island and a DJ and live music from recording artist Angelo Venuto and explore a Cadillac car show. In addition, Councilman Manetta is conducting his sixth annual pasta and food sauce drive, and attendees are encouraged to bring

pasta and sauce donations to help their fellow Long Islanders in need. The event will take place at Babylon Town Hall Great Lawn, 200 East Sunrise Highway in Lindenhurst, NY 11757

CAR SHOW & SWAP MEET

Long Island Cars will present their “Judged” Car Show and Swap Meet on Sunday October 15th at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington. Hundreds of automobiles, from vintage to exotic, will gather. Car clubs and collectors will be displaying rare and exotic vintage cars that are rarely seen. Show cars will be competing in 50 classes for coveted “Long Island Cars” impressive trophies. This event will also include

a swap meet with well stocked vendors offering older parts, literature, accessories and collectibles for sale. Amityville Memorial HS Celebrates International Day Of Peace

On Sept. 21, Amityville Memorial High School commemorated the International Day of Peace by presenting its annual Pinwheels for Peace event. Through song, poetry, peace rock presentations and a pinwheel planting ceremony, students

reflected on the importance of peace in their lives, their community and throughout the world. To prepare for this event, high school art students created more than 200 pinwheels and decorated them with peace-themed art and personal messages of

peace. Many peace-themed posters were also created for this celebration.

Additionally, students in the high school’s Warrior Awareness Club, known as the WAC PAC, wrote poetry and created “Peace Rocks” to distribute to individuals who have great meaning

within their lives. During the celebration, students created a human Unity Circle and then “planted” their pinwheels to form a peace sign of pinwheels on the school’s front lawn.

The International Day of Peace (Peace Day) is observed around the world

each year on Sept. 21.

Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to peace above all differences and to contribute to building a culture of peace. The
