Angela’s House, located in Hauppauge, is one of those seven nonprofits they oversee. This organization was created to offer families and professionals an agency to call to help medically frail children and their families. Angela’s House has helped to simplify home care options for families by coordinating the extensive array of services needed to support medically frail children at home.

“We have worked very hard to create new programs and opportunities for medically frail children,” said founder Bob Policastro, who opened the first home in East Moriches in 2000, and named after his daughter, who suffered severe brain damage during birth. “Over the years we’ve received tremendous support from Assemblyman Harvey Weisenberg, and have worked in collaboration with IGHL, Independent Group Home Living, to provide these services. We now operate more than 50 homes, multiple day programs and many other supportive programs for individual with intellectual disabilities.”

Another affiliate of the Kinexion network is East End Disability Associates (EEDA) in Riverhead, which also provides support and services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This organization formed in 1992 by a small group of parents who were active advocates for their children and believed that everyone has the right to

fully participate in quality education, medical, habilitation and recreational services for more than 750 people.

Rounding out the seven affiliates of Kinexion is Maryhaven, whose vision is to foster a community whereby people with special needs are safe, accepted and supported. This nonprofit offers a full range of services, including residential, day habilitation and vocational training to promote independence, individuality, integration and social connections.

“Our 29 Community Residential homes offer a warm and secure environment where people with special needs can live comfortably,” said Charles Vanek, III, Executive Director of Maryhaven. “Additionally, our Day Habilitation program and our Integrated Business Center provide the platform to attain personal growth and the highest quality of life by teaching daily living skills and offering them community integration opportunities as well as an environment whereby individuals with disabilities work alongside non-disabled workers.”

Urban Air Lake Grove, the only indoor adventure park of its kind on Long Island, is kicking off its Summer 2022 extended hours with Friday Night Glow Nights.

Continuing every Friday throughout the summer, Urban Air Lake Grove will host Glow Night with a one of kind, glow-in-the-dark experience. Everyone who purchases an attraction pass will also receive a free glow necklace and bracelet, with more available for purchase. Babylon Soldier Ride Back In Action for First Time Since 2019

On Friday, July 15, 2022, the Town of Babylon welcomed the Wounded Warrior Project back to Town Hall for the 15th annual Babylon Soldier Ride. Hosted by Councilman and Veterans Advisory Chair DuWayne Gregory, this was the first time in two years that the town has been able to host a full community ride as was done prior to the pandemic.

This year, the town helped raise over $100,000 for the Wounded Warrior Project with some of the proceeds going to Project9Line, an Islip-based nonprofit that serves veterans here in Suffolk County. About 30

wounded warriors from across the country, and over 1,000 members of our community participated in the 25-mile ride from Babylon Town Hall in Lindenhurst to Overlook Beach out on the barrier island. Among the riders was Supervisor Schaffer, Councilman Gregory, and many of our government partners from the county and state.

“It is crucial for us to provide support for the brave men and women who have risked so much for our freedom,” said Councilman DuWayne Gregory. “The pandemic forced us to reduce the size and capacity

of this event over the last two years, but as you can see by the amount raised and the turnout of riders, the support for our nation’s veterans is as strong as it has ever been here in the Town of Babylon,” he added.

The Babylon Town Board extends its sincere gratitude to all the members of the Babylon workforce who make the event possible. A special thank you goes to the law enforcement agencies that assist in this group effort, the Suffolk County Police Department; New York State Police; the Amityville Police Department; and all of our volunteer fire and rescue personnel.

The New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation is pleased to announce that seasonal boat slips at the Robert Moses State Park East Marina are available for rent. Interested boaters can obtain an application to reserve a slip by visiting the Robert Moses State Park Office.

The Robert Moses State Park East Marina has forty (40) boat slips, which are available from Memorial Day to Columbus Day. East Marina Seasonal slips will be available on a first come, first serve basis, and will be assigned by Robert Moses State Park.

In the event the marina has reached capacity, you will be placed on the wait

list.

A seasonal boat slip costs $50 per foot.

Slips can accommodate vessels up to 40 feet long with a maximum beam of 14 feet. Each slip has potable water, two cleats, and electric hook-up.

The power source is 50 amps (50/125). Boaters must supply their own ropes, adapters, and extension cords. Each slip includes one vehicle parking permit. No overnight visitor parking will be permitted.

Boaters who rent a slip during the 2022 season will automatically be renewed for the 2023 season.

Robert Moses State Park is located at the south end of the Robert Moses Causeway and

Hampton Classic Horse Show To Host FEI CSI 5* And 2* Competitions

The Hampton Classic Horse Show, one of the country’s most prestigious hunter-jumper horse shows, will unveil new state-of-the-art all-weather footing in its Grand Prix Ring and a new schedule with FEI CSI 5* and 2* competitions when it returns for its 46th edition, August 28-September 4.

The new CSI 5* status means an increase in prize money to more than $1 million, with $410,000 for the Classic’s featured Hampton Classic Grand Prix on Sunday, September 4. New all-weather footing in the Grand Prix Ring will allow for an expanded schedule featuring the 5* and 2* as well as some new divisions.

“We are truly excited about hosting a CSI 5* and having the opportunity to expand our schedule,” said Shanette Barth Cohen, the Classic’s Executive Director. “Our new allweather footing enables us

Obituary Barbara A. Nugent, a longtime resident of Amityville, LI., died suddenly in Virginia on July 14, 2022. She was 89 years old.

Barbara was born on June 4, 1933 in Brooklyn, New York to John and Mary (Fallon) Vogel. In addition to caring for her family Barbara was a self-employed Real Estate broker and widows advocate.

She was a founding member of the “Survivors of the Shield”. Barbara’s husband, Kenneth A. predeceased her in August of 1971.

Survivors include her children Kathleen, Michael (Maryellen), Kevin (Clare), Brian (Patricia), Glenn (Melissa), Tara NugentWheeler (Jeffrey and Colleen;

her grandchildren Kristin, Elizabeth, Megan, James, Kenneth, Sean, Bridget, Erin, Millie, Fallon, Breanne, Padraic, Rori, Emily, Conor, Aidan, Gwyneth, Fiona and Peirce; sixteen (16) Great grandchildren and two sisters, Joan Tonnies and Sharon Molteni. Prayers were conducted Wednesday night by Deacon Mike Aprile.

Father James McNamara officiated at a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martin of Tours R.C.Church assisted by the Consolation Ministry and members of Barbara’s family. An Honor guard and transportation was provided by the NYPD to the church and the subsequent burial in Amityville Cemetery.

Ethical Friends of Children is an outreach program of the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island., established in 1985. “We assist more than 2,500 children and their families each year by providing them clothing for children from newborn to size 12 as well as infant furniture at no cost,” says Pat Spencer of Port Washington.
