McSweeney & Compitello spoke with a few of the participants and listened to stories of how they thought their car seat had been installed correctly, but
after the installation by the SCPD & Amityville Police Dept., they acknowledged the difference and are happy to have their car seats installed properly and securely.
McSweeney said he does this safety check twice a year and tries to have 2 separate locations for convenience and to better serve town residents. He added the next free car seat safety check will be on 5/11/2024 at the Deer Park Fire Dept. Recycled And Found: International Mixed Media Virtual Arts Exchange And Exhibition
Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts (BACCA) and Sognare Insieme Viaggi travel agency are proud to announce their partnership in presenting an innovative international arts exchange: the “Recycled and Found” mixed media exhibition.
This is one of many special events as BACCA celebrates its 50th year of service to the community through the arts. This virtual showcase will bring together artists from Calabria, Italy, and Long Island, New York and the Greater New York Metro area, inviting them to redefine artistic boundaries by crafting mixed media artworks from unconventional found materials.

materials including, but not limited to, plastic waste, reclaimed metal, and paper within their work. The exhibition aims to challenge viewers to reconsider the value of everyday items while promoting sustainable practices through art.

On March 14, eighth graders in Ms. Katsigiorgis and Ms. Mejia’s ELA class at Edmund W. Miles Middle School in Amityville held a debate with their teachers.

also discussed Brianna’s Law. Taking effect in 2025, Brianna’s Law will require every boat operator to complete a state-approved boating safety course. The law, passed in 2019, is named after Lieneck’s daughter,
Brianna Lieneck, who was tragically killed in a boating crash in the Great South Bay in 2005. The Town has frequently collaborated with Lieneck on boating safety initiatives, including Operation Dry Water.

Three Park Avenue Elementary School Students Win Essay, Art Contest
The Amityville School District is proud to announce that three Park Avenue Memorial Elementary School students were named as winners in State Sen. Monica R. Martinez’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Essay and Art contest.
Park Avenue students
Sussan Turcios Castro, Danna Flores Cornejo and Emely Espinal were honored for their artwork. The contest was held in conjunction with Senator Martinez’s recognition of Black History Month. Participants were tasked with writing an essay or creating a work of art that pays tribute to those who
continue to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s legacy or demonstrates how we can build bridges between all communities.
Senator Martinez will have lunch with Park Avenue’s winners, and all of the school’s students who participated in the contest will receive a certificate.

A $10 donation is requested by the sponsor, the Bay Village Civic Association, for three bags or boxes of personal paper
material to be destroyed on site. The donation, made in cash or check payable to the BVCA, will help fund scholarships to Amityville H.S. seniors. Volunteers will assist residents unload when they arrive at the parking lot. Drivers should wait until the volunteers signal to them to proceed to the truck. This is always a well anticipated and patronized event.

Now Accepting 2024 Music Scholarship Applications
The Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame (LIMEHOF) is now accepting applications for its 2024 Student Scholarship program. The deadline for applications is Friday, May 10th, 2024.
LIMEHOF will award $1,000 scholarships to graduating students. These scholarships will provide funding to eligible graduating high school students from Nassau, Suffolk, Brooklyn, Queens, or Kings (Brooklyn) Counties who have shown an interest in pursuing a career in music or performing arts. · Graduating high school senior from Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, or Kings (Brooklyn) Counties.
· Minimum 2.5 GPA.
· Accepted full-time at an accredited college or university.
· Demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in music.
· Financial need.
· U.S. citizen or legal resident with I-55 permanent residency.
About LIMEHOF Founded in 2004, the Long Island Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to the idea that Long Island’s musical and entertainment heritage is an important resource to be celebrated and preserved for future generations. The organization, which encompasses New York State’s Nassau, Suffolk, Queens, and Kings (Brooklyn) Counties, was created as a place of community that inspires and explores Long Island music and entertainment in all its forms. In 2022, LIMEHOF opened its first Hall of Fame building location in Stony Brook, New York. To date, the organization has inducted more than 120 musicians and music industry executives, and offers education programs, scholarships, and awards to Long Island students and educators.
