Rosemarie Mccarthy, the Founder of Harmony Cafe, grew up in a working-class family, where money was tight and food insecurity was sometimes a cause of stress. When she happened upon a mention of the One World Everyone Eats café model in a magazine, she went looking for a cafe to volunteer. This model goes off of the idea of a donation-based cafe that services a diverse socioeconomic range and providing nutritious and delicious meals. It sounded like something to which she wanted to donate her time and energy, but to her surprise, there was nowhere to volunteer in the Long Island region. With grit and determination, she decided to start Harmony Cafe right here on Long Island.Right

The Babylon Citizens Council on the Arts (BACCA) presents its 32nd Annual Judged Art Show running through September 27th, 2022, at Old Town Hall, 47 West Main Street, Babylon, NY 11702. The show is open to all Long Island and Metro Area artists in the following categories: Oils, Acrylics, Watercolors, Pencil & Colored Pencil, Charcoal & Pastels, Mixed Media, Digital, Photography, and sculpture. There are also two student categories, Grades 5-8 and Grades 9-12. Kieran Johnson is currently the Executive Director of The Huntington Arts Council (HAC). At HAC he works to expend the reach of the organization through community projects as well as expanding accessibility to all of HAC’s programs. Previously at HAC he was the Director of Community Partnerships and Development. He first started at HAC as the Business Manager. Prior to coming to HAC, Kieran worked for Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts as the Operations Manager and at the Richard Avedon Foundation as their Office Manager and Financial Coordinator.Mr.Johnson has exhibited his photographs in New York City at New Century Artists, Rogue Space, and Greenpoint Gallery as well as throughout Michigan at ActiveSite in Grand Rapids, and Delta College in Saginaw.
