Local Summer Senior Advocate Schedule

Suffolk Legislator Tom Donnelly (D-Deer Park) is pleased to inform Babylon and Huntington residents about the local Suffolk County Office for the Aging Summer 2023 Senior Advocate Schedule. Senior advocates are County representatives who come out into the community and assist seniors with information gathering, completion of eligibility or recertification applications and referrals to appropriate community agencies.

“This is an excellent chance for senior citizens to get the assistance and information they need by connecting with the County’s senior advocates right in their own communities,” said Legislator Donnelly. “I hope all those interested in the services that the Suffolk County Office for the Aging provides will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Lightning Warriors To Host 4th Annual Mini Maniac Youth Triathlon

Lightning Warriors, a notfor-profit youth triathlon team, will be hosting its 4th annual Mini Maniac Youth Triathlon on Sunday September 17, 2023 at 7:00 AM at Cedar Beach in Mount Sinai, New York.

This year’s Mini Maniac event will be geared toward triathletes of all levels between the ages of 7 and 17. While all racers will be participating in a youth triathlon, races will be divided into three separate age groups with swimming, biking and running distances varying accordingly. Younger

athletes are also encouraged to register to participate in the Splash & Dash event, which is a 50-meter swim and a quarter-mile run for athletes between the ages of 5 and 7.

“I am excited to see the smiles and accomplishments as each athlete crosses the finish line and for those first timers being called a triathlete,” says Lightning Warriors Head Coach Noah Lam.

All Mini Maniac participants will be able to take part in training clinics with the Lightning Warriors team in

the months leading up to the triathlon. Favor bags will also be distributed to each racer, as well as medals for all finishers, awards for the top male and female finishers and post-race refreshments.

Participating in youth triathlons help build positive physical activity habits in children. According to Lam, “Every child should be able to swim, bike and run as those are lifetime skills… We’ve also seen that physical activity can provide immense benefits for mental health, more selfesteem, a sharper focus on

Town Of Babylon Lifeguards Honored

The Town of Babylon recently presented Heroism Awards, the Town’s highest honor, to several of the Overlook Beach lifeguards in recognition of various saves they made both in June and July.

In late June, a young girl was swimming in the ocean at Overlook when she got caught in a small rip current. Lifeguards Tommy Corcoran Jr. and

David Guerra acted quickly, rescuing the swimmer from the water and getting her back to shore without further incident.

In early July, a 16-yearold boy was skimboarding outside of the swimming area and suffered an injury.

Pat Fallot came to the boy’s aid, getting him to shore and caring for him until

further help could arrive and transport him to the hospital.

Supervisor Schaffer, Councilman Tony Martinez & Councilman Terence McSweeney stopped by the beach to say great job by all of these lifeguards and to thank them and all of our lifeguards for the work they do to keep our pool and beaches safe all summer long.

Ability to set-up and operate conventional tool room equipment. Knowledge of Stamping and Progressive/Compound Dies.

CAD/CAM experience (AutoCad/MasterCam) a Plus. Experience using VMC’s and or Wire EDM a Plus.
