Greetings, I’m Nehemy Jacob Philip, a dedicated student architect presently enrolled in the sixth semester at the DC School of Architecture and Design in Trivandrum. Understanding spaces and meaning, as well as the architectural thought process, has increased my interest in architecture. AR Eugine Pandala created the mud structure known as Revathykalamandir as a film academy. The building, which had a framed construction in the same compound, was sold after the post-COVID era and remained unoccupied for years. This project’s goal was to retrofit a design school into the current building while maintaining the building’s context and character and fostering an innovative work environment.

This project’s goal was to give Sri Lankan migrants in Kulatungupuzha, Kollam who are now employed as tapping labourers on rehabilitation plantations a place to call their own. The idea of historicism was presented before, thus in order to comprehend the users, a contextual analysis and interviews with the migrants were conducted. Consequently, a visitor centre, a facility for vocational training for employees, and an interpretation centre were constructed.

More information about land-people-time- activity- place, and meaning was covered in semester six.Spending a week in a rural coastal settlement in Perumadura, Trivandrum, allowed for the analysis of public space cultural and behavioural patterns. A thorough community study was conducted, and through casual conversations with locals, the concept of public participation in project formulation was presented. The necessity of community empowerment places was recognised throughout the entire process of settlement studies, individual narratives, and derivations. Through the investigations, the studio came to a decision as a group to build a kindergarten and community centre in Perumadura for the empowerment of the rural population.

Kerala University For Fisheries And Ocean Studies (KUFOS)

The Kerala government founded the Kerala University of Fisheries and Ocean Studies (KUFOS) at Eranakulam with the goal of promoting studies in fisheries and ocean sciences. KUFOS, the first university in India solely devoted to studying fisheries and related fields, has made the decision to broaden its curriculum. Therefore, the project’s goal was to create a Fishires campus in Kollam.Ten acres of land set aside for this project were provided.The project was made more fascinating and the incorporation of the cultural aspect into the design was aided by the analysis of the history of Kollam and the relationship between people and ocean-related activities.
