What Makes An Effective Argument Ineffective?
1.The basic parts of an effective argument are a stated clearly defined issue, makes a claim, and offers support for that claim. Sometimes an argument may also recognize opposing viewpoints and incorporate them into the argument
2.What makes an argument ineffective is when using emotional appeals to distract a reader from a lack of evidence. Also the use of faulty reasoning, and inaccurate facts.

Surprisingly, Many people today are still saying college is important. This unfortunately is the old way which now barely helps you today. Most of the time the degree can do more damage to you than help you. This article will show you three reasons why college may not be the best choice for now.
Most jobs don't need the "high level of learning" that colleges offer. Fun fact! You don't need to study at an overpriced school for four years just to learn coding or IT while most people can hop on a website and learn pretty much the same stuff you learned (Patel 2017). Now, most jobs that are being made are in the tech community which is a community that makes it really easy to make a website or a YouTube video teaching it. This allows for the people who don't have a lot of money to learn skills that can help them later on. This way the economy is growing can open the doors for many poor people to have a chance.
Grit is perseverance and passion for our long–term goals. Grit cannot be learned from projects and exams, but from trying...show more content...
The average tuition for a public college is $25,290 and $50,900 for a private one, but you probably don't have that money sitting around, so you probably have to get a loan. A loan for which you can never pay back. According to Adam from Adam Ruins everything Sallie Mae, which is a student loan company, takes loans from a bank to give to students and their charges are so low they don't even cover the interest (Adam Ruins Everything 2017). That being said basically student loans are designed to make you pay for the rest of your life so the greedy corporations can make a quick buck off of people who want to survive in today's economy. You could say it is worth it to get a higher paying job, which I agree with to a certain extent, but today's economy is changing to fit more people willing to devote time and effort to their job not people with a four–year degree. College is just too expensive for

They Say I Say is extremely useful in learning how to write argumentative papers because the authors discuss the "I say" of an argumentative paper by providing many real life examples and templates for new writers to experiment with. For example, on page 60, templates are provided for disagreeing with an argument and using reasoning. One of the templates reads, "X claims that ___ rests upon the questionable assumption that ___"(Graff). On page 62, templates for agreeing are presented, one of which is, "X is surely right about ___ because, as she may not be aware, recent studies have shown"(Graff). It is also expressed in this chapter that students feel uncomfortable agreeing with arguments made or disagreeing. On page 63 the authors also recognize

To whom this may concern, Good Afternoon, the reason for this letter is to appeal the decision of me being denied unemployment benefits. The reasons stated for my termination were incorrect and false. The decision made by Unemployment Insurance was based off incorrect information. I worked as the Security Supervisor for Colonial Security Services. We were contracted to work for a private school called Pingry School. My hours were overnight from Sunday 11pm–8am. Overnight there wasn't anyone in the building that allowed us to not wear our full uniform until it was time to be posted at the front desk at 6am. (Pants and shirt) Those were the words of Jim Westgate from Colonial Security. (However, he will dispute it now that I was terminated)...show more content...
At 0745 that morning, I did take my cell phone out of my pocket while at the front desk. There weren't any visitors present; it was 15 minutes until the end of my shift. I do have a daughter and checked if I had any messages regarding her. The time it took to check was 10 seconds (if that). All actions done as to my supervisor duties were done via my personal cell phone. Never was there a policy or conversation told to me about being on my cell phone. Not with Colonial Security or Pingry School. Pingry employees working outside, inside, office, and front desk, all walked around talking, texting, using their personal cell phones. Employees of Colonial Security all contacted me via my personal cell phone during my working hours. On the morning of July 5th, Mike Virzi (main boss with Pingry) walked up to the front desk talking loudly on his personal phone. At that time, I was taking my phone out of my pocket to check messages. He asked if I was playing games, I replied "No". He then asked what I was doing. I answered checking something. He stated to put your phone away. I paused for a second and looked at him, while putting my phone away, I did ask him why? It was never an issue of me using my phone for the past 7 months working there. Mike Virzi was in a bad mood and had a very disgusting attitude. He decided to project his personal problems unto me. I was then asked to leave for the remainder of my shift, Get more content

As a student in a beginning English class some elements may seem difficult at the beginning but with practice they become long lasting skills. Writing an argumentative is not an easy task there is a lot of elements that have to come together to create a successful essay but as many other things, it requires constant practice and effort. At the start of this course I wasn't a very good writer myself, and I can see the huge improvement this course made by looking at my first argumentative essay. I was able to identify and apply the requisites of a good argument essay. A well thought structure, reliable evidence, and a counterargument are three essential components of argumentative writing. The structure of an essay is the foundation to a good argumentative paper. Throughout this course I learned the importance of having an essay structure, before I started this class I didn't have a very clear vision of how to correctly format my essay. In my diagnostic essay, which was the first one I wrote for English 1302, had five paragraphs. That is considered a standard structure of many essays but it is more of a skeleton. Looking back at that essay I see how poor my introduction was, I did not even have a clear thesis. One only thing even close to one that I could spot was, "The "millennials," people born in the last two decades of the 20th century, are failing to reflect Rich's model for a good education." It merely addresses the topic in a simple way. It did not serve the purpose a
"The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" is a book written by Mark Twain, which is a sequel to "Tom Sawyer". Most readers will find themselves laughing at different scenes from the book. It is autobiographic of a young boy in adventures along the Mississippi River. Tom Sawyer appears in this book again, but the scenes and characters are different. Everything is seen through Huck's eyes. It is told in first person and it was a unique kind of book that was written during that period. It deals with different issues, like racism, slavery, and war, but it did not promote. It just did not skirt around the issues. Was it politically incorrect? Perhaps, yes and no. Through the years, it has been banned but it is ridiculous for people to feel that way.

Failure is the step towards success. Do you agree?
It is often assumed that failure is a deterrent to achievement. Rather, failure should be seen as a motivator for a person to keep trying until the objective or aim of a particular mission is fulfilled. Failure often times leads a person to feel helpless, disappointed and depressed. However, one should not allow this to set them back in trying to achieve the ultimate aim one has set out to do. Failure in the beginning can often be a powerful incentive to reassess one's position in wanting to achieve the particular aims; to analyse whether the purpose is worth the trouble the person has to undergo and the whether the obstacles are surmountable. Practical and...show more content...
Another disadvantage of being an only is that he lacks companionship. He has no brother or sister to confide in. Growing up as an only child can be very lonely. If you have siblings you will have to share everything, so you get less; but you also get less of the bad things. Siblings can support and comfort each in times of trouble. The elder siblings learn to care for the younger ones and the younger ones learn to respect their elder siblings and have someone to look up to besides their parents. You are more balanced person than an only child. Another advantage of having siblings is that your parents' attention is divided among your siblings. As a result, there is less pressure on you to perform well, be it academically or in other areas. Having siblings also means that you have companionship, the joy of caring and sharing, and security. I, personally, am happy that I am not an only child.
Students should not take up part time jobs. Discuss.
Nowadays, students love to have part–time jobs. Their parents approve it easily as they are said to gain experience from working. However, having a job is a big responsibility for a student. Before, teenagers at their age were working to help their family because of poverty. Nevertheless, they were actually eager to study and learn at school for their future. It was not the same as the teenagers nowadays where they are more likely competing to each other to have a job. Most of the
