High School Scholarship Essay

Please accept this application for the USD 108 Endowment Scholarship. I am currently a senior at Washington County High School and will graduate in May. I heard about this scholarship from my guidance counselor, Mrs. Goeckel. I'm pleased to say that I meet the requirements, and I feel I am highly qualified and deserving of this scholarship.

Throughout high school I have been very active in many organizations both in school and the community. I have held office in FBLA, FCCLA, and 4–H, and competed at national levels in FCCLA, FBLA, and FFA. Holding those offices and competing at various levels helped me grow in leadership, responsibility, and speaking skills.

I'm applying for the AVID program due to the fact that I believe that I'm a hardworking student. I want to challenge myself so I can achieve the best I can be academically. I believe that this makes me an ideal addition to your program. I have been told by people that I'm well mannered, helpful, and that I follow directions.

Ever since I was a young child, my parents always told me to try my best in school, they always told me this for the reason that they never had the opportunity to have a good job because they never finished school. This event is shaping me to care a lot regarding my education. In addition to that, another event that has shaped me to become the person I am today is that since my parents don't have good paying jobs they have to work hard to take care of me and my siblings this event has caused me to become a hard working person and to seize all opportunities to live a good life because I don't want to struggle like my parents.

Overall, I just want to be contented with my life in the future and not realize that I am miserable and that I have wasted my life. In the near future, I also aspire to do well in all four years of high school. This also applies to college. Another goal for the future that I have is to get a scholarship for college because of the fact that I want to go to college, but I don't want to drown in college debt.

I would like to get into the AVID program because I want to improve academically and also because i will work hard to do my best. Because my parents are struggling because they didn't finish school and also working hard because their jobs are low salary jobs, is shaping me to appreciate my education and opportunities. Milestone 3: Motivation For High School Students

With so many of life many failure attempts to succeed in life, we see those individuals that have dropped out of school and feel that their life now seems meaningless. Their determination or will power wasn't strong, and they had no one to push them forward to want to be a better person or succeed in life. Some students today feel that all they have to do is just attend school just because of their parents' wishes for them to receive a diploma. Now how can you learn if you're not interested? This is when the teacher should consider providing fun and games, praise, and love within the classrooms, making the classroom exciting and more interesting.

Before entering the classrooms, teachers should sit and study each individual student and learn their likes and dislikes. They should know what particular student need help in what particular subject. Some students need more help in other subjects than other students. This is when teachers should consider making their lesson plans focusing on subject matters that are current and relevant to high school students, implementing cooperative learning strategies with their lesson plans while students show off their talents. If students are demonstrating what they have learned in a skit, they tend to learn more positively. When providing fun and game within the classrooms, the students are excited about attending class because they already know something very eventful is going to take place in that particular class. Not only are they learning they are having fun while doing so. They are able to act out some of their personal talents, giving others a sense of who they really are, and what some of their greater skills may be.
