Chapter 1: The Long View

The 2020 Regional Development Report (RDR) presents the annual assessment of the socio-economic performance of the region based on the targets in the Result Matrices of the SOCCSKSARGEN Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2017-2022. Itis a tool for policymakers and development planners for the identification of appropriate development interventions to address the needs of the key sectors namely: the macro-economy, industry and services, agriculture and fisheries, infrastructure, social, peace and security, governance, and environment.

The regional targets and plan implementation are operationalized through priority strategies, programs, and recommendationsof the various sectors. The region's economic performance is measured based on its ability to increase output, productivity, and competitiveness, generate employment, improve its social services and reduce poverty. Challenges, as well as strategies and techniques, were recognized to address issues while watching out for the patterns, trends, and opportunities in every sector.
