Summer is here and I’m sure you are all ramping up for the event schedule at your facility! It is good to get some seasonal staff back as play continues to stay strong. It has been great to see the amount of play from our professionals in the section events so far this season. David and his team do such a great job with our tournament program and looking forward to the summer event schedule. I have just returned from the PGA Championship in Tulsa, Oklahoma at Southern Hills CC. What a great venue and so happy for Justin Thomas to represent us as the champion. This is the second win for Justin as PGA Champion and pretty cool to see his family there supporting him after the round. His Dad is a PGA member and served as a National Board Member several years back. I saw a number of section members attending the championship and heard many positive comments regarding their experience. It really is an event you need to attend to watch some great golf and see how our national association promotes the PGA Professional. We were also able to follow Ryan Vermeer, PGA for a number of holes on Friday and after a rough start that day he played fantastic coming down the stretch. I was also fortunate enough to be able to start John Daly on the first tee Thursday morning and see the first shot of the tournament! Recruitment, Retention and Employment continue to be a hot topic at the National level. Joe Canny, PGA is doing some amazing things for the PGM program at UNL and filling the pipeline for new students attending next Fall. The hiring process for two new career consultants for our District (one for Minnesota and one for Nebraska/Iowa) is in progress and will give the sections more access to this valuable member benefit. The interaction with the career consultant and the PGA member is at an all-time high so to have an extra body in our District is exciting. The PGA National Headquarters in Frisco, Texas opened this past month to great reviews. The grand opening ceremony will be held this August during the national committee meetings, and I will be attending to get my first look inside the building.

Hopefully, you had a chance to participate in the Memorial Day weekend Patriot Golf Days. These days provide funding in support of Veterans and military families through educational scholarships provided by Folds of Honor and PGA Hope rehabilitative golf programming. The money raised over the weekend will be split between both groups and will stay in the Nebraska Section PGA. Thanks for all you do for promoting the game of golf and being leaders in the business. Have a great summer start and take care of yourself and your staff. Sincerely, Greg Neujahr, PGA District 8 Director PAGE 8  Nebraska PGA News  May 2022

We are excited to announce that in 2022 we will be adding an additional fundraising event in Kearney, NE. PGA REACH Nebraska continues to be passionate about changing lives through the game of golf and we are striving to improve our efforts every year. We cannot do this without the help of our generous Membership and Sales Representatives. We are looking for golf experiences/packages, golf hard goods, soft goods or anything else that you think would be fun and creative. We are seeking to receive TWO packages from all of you willing to donate! If you have anything to donate, please reach out to Renee Tyson by Wednesday, June 1st at rtyson@pgahq.com as we will need these items in hand by Friday, June 6th.
