Dear Nebraska Section Members and Associates, Spring is here and I hope your courses are getting open and ready for the season. The lack of moisture and snow cover has been a challenge for our Superintendents so looking to see some green up! Wanted to update you on a few things going on at the National level: The new 100,000 sq foot PGA headquarters or what we like to call the new home of the PGA is getting very close to opening down in Frisco, TX. The 4-floor building will house a world-class Education center on the first floor, office space for staff on floors 2 and 3 with meeting space/ entertainment venue on top floor overlooking the entire property. Staff is planning to move in around the middle of April with education starting for Level 2 and Level 3 Associate program in May. The North Texas PGA is also building their office building on the property. The entire 500-milliondollar property will consist of a PGA staffed teaching center, 500 room Omni Resort, lighted short course, 2 acre putting course, clubhouse, retail and entertainment district and 2 championship golf courses. This is a partnership with the city of Frisco who will own the courses, Omni Resorts and the PGA of America. These venues will plan to open sometime in late 2022 or early 2023 with the first major being played in May (The Senior PGA Championship). Twenty nine different championships will be staged at the facility over the next 12 years. PGA Operations Benchmark is a new free member benefit that can help you understand how your course compares to the market. It’s the first interactive online report that benchmarks overall facility performance – giving you the power to make informed decisions. Currently set up for public or semiprivate clubs with private clubs coming online in late 2022. You simply email a couple reports once a month and they compile the data into an interactive online report that details your performance compared to the market. What are the current biggest threats to our association? -Compensation, Recruitment, Retention, Work/Life Balance/Burnout -Aging of the membership (56% of the membership is 45 years of age or older) (50% of our membership will retire in the next 10 years)

What is the PGA of America trying to do about it? -Compensation and human capital – discussing compensation with your owners – will the increase revenue over the past two years transition into more payroll? -National is working on regional employment events – bring your owner or board President and help start the conversation. –Recruitment and how do we fill the funnel for future PGA Professionals -PGM University system – dedicated staff member who recruits – Joe Canny, PGA at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln -Digital and social media messaging – marketing ads showing different opportunities in the golf business. -Are you looking to be part of a rewarding profession? -Is there a disconnect in the current deliberate effort to attract new talent given the dignity and meaning to realize in what we do? Meaning derived from seeing work done well and from delighting in the gifts the work provides to a range of people in a hot industry that needs and appreciates them. What we do can be very rewarding, so the challenge is to share these experiences and create work/life balance. -Retention and how do we keep current staff from getting out of the business? -The work schedule for our staff – does it need to be more flexible? -We are held in high esteem by their members/patrons, colleagues, and community – make sure your staff is developing relationships with your players. -What barriers exist? Is the education standard too high? Does the PAT need to change? I know the National staff, board, committees and officers are working hard to address these challenges and will continue to make it a priority in 2022. The PGA Championship will be held at Southern Hills CC in Tulsa, OK this year so hope you can plan a quick trip down to watch the best major in golf. Have a great start to your Spring season! Make Golf Your Thing believes golf is a game for all. For that reason, the Education & Skill Development Work Group has partnered with Athlete Ally to host a one hour training on some of the key barriers to LGBTQI+ inclusion in sports. Athlete Ally Founder and Executive Director Hudson Taylor will share his personal journey and give insight into what Athlete Ally is doing to address these key barriers, and what you can do to champion inclusion in your workplace and beyond. PGA REACH Nebraska – Clubs FORE Youth Program Objectives To fully equip ALL High School Girls Golf Programs in need of resources and equipment assistance. As our research has shown, High Schools Girl's Golf Programs aren’t afforded the proper resources, equipment, or training to succeed at a high level. The vast majority of High School Girl's Golf Programs are using substandard equipment and PGA REACH Nebraska is committed to bridging this gap and providing these female scholar-athletes with a level playing field. All recipients will receive brand new sets of Callaway golf clubs, bags, Sun Mountain pushcarts, PGA Professional Instruction and access to golf through Nebraska Junior Golf and Youth on Course cards.
