Nebraska PGA Members & Associates, I am writing this letter today to inform the membership that I am resigning my position as Secretary of the Nebraska Section. While my time as a board member has been brief, I appreciate all that the Board and Section staff has done to help me transition into the role. I would now like to move onto a more positive note as to why I have resigned my position as Secretary of the Nebraska Section. I have recently accepted the position as PGA Career Consultant of the Nebraska and Iowa Sections. This new position provides me a unique opportunity to give back to not only the PGA, but the Nebraska Section which has helped make me the professional I am today. I look forward to traveling the Section to get to know the membership, and better understand what each professional and their facility needs to be successful in their professional and personal life. I am excited to serve both the membership and facilities in this new role for many years to come. I hope to continue building upon past and future relationships with the PGA membership. Dear Nebraska PGA Members & Associates: Hello to all and hope you have a chance to take a deep breath as we roll into the July 4th weekend. I always felt this was another benchmark of the season and we are at the top of the mountain starting to look down at the other side. It’s an important time of the year to check in with your staff and make sure they are mentally in a good place and ready for the final push of the season as we look towards Labor Day. Make sure you check out our Section championships over the next couple months and sign up to play if you can make time. I just returned from the KPMG Womens’ PGA Championship in Washington DC which was held at Congressional CC. What a week! KPMG has really transformed a major championship to a world class leadership and recruitment event for women that is second to none. We had an announcement at the beginning of the week that the purse doubled to $9 million so very excited to see this event grow. Talking to some of our leaders at the event we discussed a couple topics: The new PGA headquarters opened the doors this past month and staff is moving into the building and getting settled. They have also been holding education for associates on the first floor of the building so very excited to see things come to life. The grand opening will be the first week of August and all the committee members plus national board have been invited to attend. The rest of the property is still a work in progress with the goal of opening the entire venue (golf courses, resort, entertainment district) some time in early Spring of 2023. We will be holding our first major championship (The Senior PGA) in May of next year so looking forward to showing the world the new modern home of golf! The new regional model is coming together and looking forward to having more resources, conversations, and collaboration at the grass roots level where Sections, PGA Members, and Associates live and work. Having an extra Career Consultant in our District will be very helpful moving the needle for recruitment, retention, and compensation growth. We will also have a dedicated recruiter and player engagement specialist to help you fill positions or give you new ideas to promote golf at your facility. Watch for engagement from the regional staff as we get closer to the Fall and the off season! In closing I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve you at the National level and look forward to the second half of the season. PGA HOPE National Golf & Wellness Week (NG&WW) is a unique opportunity for Veterans who possess the motivation to excel in their personal rehabilitation journey and represent their local PGA HOPE community on a national level. Over the course of four days in Washington D.C., PGA HOPE graduates who have been nominated by PGA Professionals from their home PGA HOPE programs will receive a tool kit of new skills focused on advanced golf instruction and impactful wellness training. This curriculum is an extension to what Veterans have been learning throughout the years at their home PGA HOPE programs. At the conclusion of the event, the PGA HOPE graduates become PGA HOPE Ambassadors and when they return to their home programs, have new responsibilities to help foster the game of golf through the PGA HOPE Program. Silent Auction
Every year, since the inception of our foundation, the Nebraska PGA hosts a fundraising Pro-Am for PGA REACH Nebraska. We are excited to announce that in 2022 we will be adding an additional fundraising event in Kearney, NE. PGA REACH Nebraska continues to be passionate about changing lives through the game of golf and we are striving to improve our efforts every year. In order to continue doing this, we need your support. As part of these fundraising events, we incorporate a silent auction to help raise additional funds. We cannot do this without the help of our generous Membership and Sales Representatives. We are looking for golf experiences/packages, golf hard goods, soft goods or anything else that you think would be fun and creative. We are seeking to receive TWO packages from all of you willing to donate! If you have anything to donate, please reach out to Renee Tyson at rtyson@pgahq.com. Feel free to bring any items to any Section Tournaments if that is convenient for you.
