The Nebraska Section PGA has announced Jared Frost, PGA the recipient of the Wilson Sporting Goods Monthly Game Ball for the month of July
The Nebraska PGA Section is proud to recognize Jared Frost, PGA, of Miracle Hill Golf & Tennis, as the July Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball recipient. The Wilson Game Ball Award recognizes PGA Professionals who go above and beyond in serving their facilities, communities, and the game of golf. Frost’s impact extends far beyond the golf course through his leadership with PGA HOPE, PGA Jr. League, mentoring PGA Associates, women’s programming, and countless charitable and community initiatives. Frost was nominated by multiple peers who highlighted his unwavering commitment to growing the game and serving others. “Jared has been a big supporter and volunteer for PGA HOPE, Wounded Warriors and PGA Jr. League,” said Phil Palmer, PGA, Director of Golf at Miracle Hill Golf & Tennis. “Along with that he mentors our Associate Golf Professionals toward membership. Jared has been a huge part of our awardwinning junior golf program at Miracle Hill—from our Team Golf Days to now with PGA Jr. League. He has taken on every role I have asked him to lead and has done so at a very high level. I can’t say enough how important he is to the success of our facility.” Joe Wiegand echoed those sentiments in his nomination. “As a PGA Professional, Jared goes above and beyond to use the game of golf as a tool for positive impact,” Wiegand said. “Through PGA Jr. League, he serves as a vital mentor to local youth, teaching discipline, confidence, and sportsmanship. ANDREW STORM WINS 2ND CAREER NEBRASKA PGA PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP Hillcrest Country Club welcomed 72 players for the 2026 Nebraska PGA Professional Championship, presented by Club Car (Nebraska Golf & Turf), Corebridge Financial, and Rolex. The 36-hole stroke-play championship will send five qualifiers to the PGA Professional Championship, where the nation’s top PGA Professionals will compete. Ryan Vermeer, PGA, of Happy Hollow Club is already exempt into the national championship as a past champion. The opening round was contested Monday under extremely hot conditions, adding another challenge to an already demanding championship. Justin Herron, PGA, of Oak Hills Country Club and Ky Molholm, PGA, of Lochland Country Club both fired impressive rounds of 67 (-5) to share the overnight lead. Just one stroke behind the leaders was 2023 champion Andrew Storm, PGA, of The Players Club Omaha, who carded a 4-under 68 to remain firmly in contention. With 16 players sitting within three shots of the final qualifying position, the leaderboard was packed heading into Tuesday’s final round, setting the stage for an exciting finish and a battle for the five available spots in the PGA Professional Championship. Tuesday’s final round began with a lengthy weather delay after overnight rain and strong winds left Hillcrest Country Club unplayable. A special thank you goes to Superintendent Rob Hall and his entire grounds crew, whose tremendous efforts restored the course and made championship play possible. Following a split-tee start, the final round finally got underway at noon, with players battling not only for the championship title but also for one of five coveted spots in the PGA Professional Championship.

Several lead changes highlighted an exciting final round, but the championship ultimately came down to the final pairing of Ky Molholm, Justin Herron, and Andrew Storm, who traded momentum throughout the back nine. After Molholm grabbed the solo lead with a birdie on No. 12, Storm answered immediately with a par on No. 13 before taking the outright lead on the 14th hole with a birdie. From there, the 2023 champion never looked back. Storm put the finishing touch on his impressive performance with a birdie on the 18th hole, closing with a second consecutive round of 68 to finish at 8-under par. The victory marks his second Nebraska PGA Professional Championship title, returning the past champion to the winner’s circle at the Section’s premier championship.
The following players earned qualifying spots: Andrew Storm, PGA of The Players Club of Omaha | 8-under Ky Molholm, PGA of Lochland Country Club | 6-Under Justin Herron, PGA of Oak Hills Country Club | 6-Under Judd Cornell, PGA of Nebraska Men’s Golf | 5-Under Mike Coatman, PGA of Firethorn Golf Club | 4-Under Ryan Vermeer, PGA of Happy Hollow Club | Exempt*
The national championship will be contested at Streamsong Golf Resort in Florida from April April 25-28, 2027. We would like to thank General Manager Jeff Tyson, Director of Golf Mike Brown, PGA, Superintendent Rob Hall and the entire staff at Hillcrest Country Club for hosting our championship and opening up your course to our PGA Members. Lastly, we would also like to thank our presenting sponsors Club Car (Nebraska Golf & Turf), Corebridge Financial and Rolex as well as our supporting sponsors Titleist/FootJoy, Callaway, Nike, TaylorMade, and Ship Sticks. We also want to thank our supporting partners Gallagher, Golf Channel and the PGA TOUR.

The 2026 Union Bank & Trust Pro+Ladies Jamboree, held on July 20th at Champions Run, brought together Nebraska PGA Professionals and women amateur golfers for another outstanding day of competition while continuing its mission of growing girls’ junior golf across Nebraska. The annual event is a collaboration between the Nebraska PGA, Nebraska Golf Association (NebGolf), and Nebraska Women’s Amateur Golf Association (NWAGA). Beyond the competition, the Jamboree serves as an important fundraiser supporting programs that provide opportunities for young female golfers throughout the state. The highlight of this year’s event came from Brady Schnell of Firethorn Golf Club, who fired a 64 (-8) at Champions Run to win low-professional honors. He totaled 9 birdies on the day to collect a two-shot victory. Finishing runner-up was our defending professional champion in Seth Porter of The Club at Indian Creek with an impressive 66 (6-under). Justin Herron, PGA, Mark Foelbaek, PGA and Ryan Vermeer, PGA all tied at 67 (5-under) for a third place showing. In the team competition, each Nebraska PGA Professional was paired with three NWAGA members from their home club to compete in a two net best-ball format across three separate flights. While the competition showcased outstanding golf and camaraderie between professionals and amateur golfers, the event’s greatest impact extends far beyond the leaderboard. Laura Saf Flight Champions (-20) Brady Schnell, PGA Teressa Yung Allyson Durnal Diana Johnson
Sarah Sasse Flight Champions (-24) Tanner Muhlecke (OCC) Tiffany Wade Desirae Solomon Rachael Menichetti
Susan Marchese Flight Champions (-22) Kevin Drew, PGA (PGA of America) EJ Gonderinger Stephanie Siegert Jackie Petersen
Proceeds from the Union Bank & Trust Pro+Ladies Jamboree directly benefit three initiatives that continue to grow the game for young women across Nebraska: The Laura Saf Scholarship — Providing financial assistance to junior girls pursuing elite competitive golf. PGA REACH Nebraska’s Clubs FORE Youth Program — Supplying high school girls’ golf programs with clubs, push carts, and PGA instruction. NWAGA’s TEE Grant — Helping junior female golfers offset tournament entry fees, equipment costs, and travel expenses. These programs continue to create meaningful opportunities for young golfers across the state. Through the Clubs FORE Youth Program alone, numerous high school girls’ golf teams have increased participation and qualified for the Nebraska State Championships after receiving equipment and instructional support.

Presented by Club Car (Nebraska Golf & Turf) and Chesterman Co. Coca-Cola, a season-high 38 teams competed this week at the Pete Dye-designed Firethorn Golf Club for the Nebraska PGA Section Pro-Am. The event featured a 2-Net Best Ball team competition alongside an individual stroke-play championship for the PGA Professionals.
Playing in one of the first groups of the morning wave, Country Club of Lincoln’s Mark Foelbaek, PGA continued his outstanding 2026 season by firing a tournament-best 64 (7-under). Foelbaek capped his impressive round with birdies on Nos. 15, 16, 17, and 18 to secure Low Professional honors. Despite setting the pace early, several other Nebraska PGA Professionals also turned in impressive rounds on the challenging Pete Dye layout. Happy Hollow Club’s Ryan Vermeer, PGA carded a 66 (5-under) to finish runner-up individually, while defending champion Brady Schnell of Firethorn Golf Club claimed solo third with a 68 (3-under). In all, eight Nebraska PGA Professionals posted rounds under par, while a score of 73 (2-over) was required to earn a top-10 finish. Vermeer’s strong individual performance also propelled his team to victory in the Pro-Am competition. Alongside amateur teammates Chad McMahon, Matt Cradick, and Brady Smith, the foursome combined for an impressive 18-under-par total in the 2-Net Best Ball format to claim the team title. Bruce Smith, PGA of Omaha Country Club and his team finished one stroke back at 17-under, earning runner-up honors. A heartfelt thank you goes to Director of Golf Mike Coatman, PGA and the entire Firethorn Golf Club professional staff for their warm hospitality and exceptional course conditions. We’re also grateful to our presenting sponsors—Club Car (Nebraska Golf & Turf) and Chesterman Co. CocaCola—and to our supporting partners: Summit Golf Brands, Coors Light, White Claw Hard Seltzer, Twisted Tea, J.R. VONTZ EARNS THIRD PINNACLE BANK CHAMPIONSHIP START AFTER WINNING 36 - HOLE QUALIFIER With one spot in the 2026 Pinnacle Bank Championship on the line, the Nebraska PGA hosted a 36-hole qualifying tournament open exclusively to players with Nebraska ties. A field of 30 hopefuls teed it up at Highlands Golf Course in Lincoln, each chasing a coveted berth into the 2026 Korn Ferry Tour event in Omaha. To earn their place in the field, they would have to survive a 36-hole birdie fest. Following a two-hour rain delay, play finally got underway, and the birdies came early. Leading the charge was last year’s runner-up, Matthew Schaefer. Playing in the opening group of the day, the Fordyce native turned in 5-under par at the turn, setting the pace for the rest of the field. Close behind was Omaha’s Alex Schaake, who ignited his round with an eagle on No. 6 to reach 6-under. Schaake posted an opening-round 65 (7-under), the second-lowest score of the morning. The only player to better him was former champion Nate Vontz of Lincoln. Vontz carded a bogey-free 64 (8-under), vaulting into sole possession of the lead heading into the afternoon round. As the final round got underway, Vontz appeared to lose his grip on the lead. Even par through his first five holes, he watched several players climb past him on the leaderboard before finding another gear. The Lincoln native birdied Nos. 6, 8, 9, 11, and 12 to quickly work his way back into contention, pulling within a shot of the lead. At the same time, current Nebraska Men’s Golf standout Jackson Benge mounted a charge of his own, becoming the first player to reach 13-under par. With the pressure mounting, Vontz delivered his best stretch of the day. He birdied Nos. 15 and 16 before reaching the par-5 17th green in two and converting the eagle putt, extending his advantage to four shots heading to the 18th tee. A closing par sealed the victory and he posted rounds of 64-63 for a 17-under total to punch his ticket into the 2026 Pinnacle Bank Championship presented by Woodhouse. Continue Reading….. CAREER CONSULTANT Kevin Drew, PGA PGA of America Career Consultant Serving the Nebraska & Iowa Sections Tick-Tock! Help your Associate crush Level 1 before 2026 ends Hey Mentors and Supervisors,
Quick gut-check: When was the last time you peeked over your Associate’s shoulder to see how their Level 1 progress is coming along? With the end of the year (and the end of summer) creeping up faster than a fastbreak, now is the perfect time to help them light a fire under their study habits. Here’s the reality check: It is completely feasible for someone to register as an Associate today and wrap up Level 1 by the end of this calendar year. Every single person who finally crosses the finish line says the exact same thing: "I don't know why it took me so long to just get started." Help them beat the procrastination bug. Send them this 5-step game plan to bite off a little bit each day and get it done: The 5-Step Level 1 Roadmap 1. Register for a Seminar ASAP: Dates fill up fast. Getting this on the calendar creates a real deadline to work toward. CLICK HERE for the seminar schedule for the remainder of 2026. 2. 2. Hit the Manuals & Quizzes: for those Associates still in the 3.1 Program. They need to read the course manuals and knock out the quizzes. Altogether, this takes about 10–12 hours. The secret? Each module only takes 10–20 minutes to complete. They can easily knock one out between tasks. 3. Tackle the Teaching & Coaching Portfolio: This consists of 6 activities, taking about 1 hour each. If they commit to doing just one per week, they will be completely done by Labor Day! 4. Attend the Seminar: Show up, absorb the knowledge, and network. 5. You have 72 hours to complete your AI testing; pick a time you can focus for 3 days. For our 3.1A Associates. Once you start your AI testing, the clock doesn’t stop. Ensure you are ready to knock out all your sections before your 3-day window closes. The Power of One Hour: Encourage your Associate to dedicate just one hour a week to their progress. That’s it. That tiny time investment will pay massive dividends for their career (and your peace of mind). Crack open a calendar with them this week, help them map out these steps, and let's get them to Class A! PAGE 21 Nebraska PGA News July 2026

PGA REACH NEBRASKA TEAMS UP WITH LAKE CUNNINGHAM TO EXPAND FREE YOUTH PROGRAMS At the PGA REACH Nebraska Foundation, we are always looking for creative ways to bring the game of golf to young people. This year, we were thrilled when our friends at Lake Cunningham (“The C”) invited us to join their fantastic youth programming and add golf into their regular rotation of handson outdoor activities! Known across Omaha for giving kids unforgettable outdoor experiences, Lake Cunningham’s programs feature a diverse lineup of classic activities, from archery, kayaking, and fishing to capture the flag, fire building, and campfire cooking. Having the opportunity to set up alongside these traditional favorites allowed us to introduce golf in a way that felt like a natural, low-pressure extension of a full day of park fun. Meeting Kids Where the Action Is Since reopening in 2021, the Lake Cunningham team has done a remarkable job providing youth programs at no cost to families and partnering with local non-profits to bring kids out into nature. When the Lake Cunningham team opened their doors to us, our goal was simple: seamlessly blend into their station rotation and show kids that swinging a golf club can be just as exciting as hitting a bullseye in archery or playing a round of capture the flag.
“Lake Cunningham has built an incredible environment for outdoor learning. Being invited to plug our team into their existing rotation of stations, right next to activities like archery and campfires, gave us an amazing platform to share our love of golf with kids who might never have tried it otherwise.” — Seth Scollard, PGA High-Energy Fun: Golfzilla & SNAG Golf To fit right in with the high-energy, hands-on vibe of Lake Cunningham’s existing activities, we brought along specialized, kid-friendly equipment designed for maximum fun: •
Golfzilla: A crowd favorite! Our giant inflatable dinosaur target gave kids a larger-than-life goal to aim for, turning basic swing practice into a friendly game where every successful hit brought huge cheers from the group.
PAGE 24 Nebraska PGA News July 2026
•
SNAG Golf Gear: Using SNAG (Starting New At Golf) equipment, featuring oversized, forgiving clubheads and soft tennis-style balls, participants were able to pick up the basics of launching and pitching in just a few minutes before rotating to their next park adventure.
Fitting seamlessly into Lake Cunningham’s action-packed schedule gave us the perfect opportunity to break down traditional barriers around golf. We showed these young athletes that you don’t need a formal course to fall in love with the game, just a club, an open green space, and a lot of enthusiasm. Building Lasting Outdoor Memories Together Partnering with Lake Cunningham this year has been a highlight for PGA REACH Nebraska. Seeing kids rotate from traditional park games straight over to our Golfzilla station and light up with confidence on their very first swing is what our foundation is all about. We extend a huge thank you to the Lake Cunningham team for letting us join their program lineup, and we can’t wait to keep working together to introduce Omaha youth to new sports and lasting outdoor memories! About the PGA REACH Nebraska PGA REACH Nebraska is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization and the charitable arm of the Nebraska Section PGA. Nebraska PGA Jr. League Section Championship Qualifier was Held at Fremont GC on Monday, July 20th Nineteen All-Star teams of junior golfers (13U) competed for the opportunity to advance to the Section Championship FREMONT, Nebraska (July 20, 2026) – For the fifth year in a row, Fremont GC hosted the Nebraska PGA Jr. League Section Championship Qualifier, with a record high nineteen All-Star teams of junior golfers ages 13 and under and their families meeting for a fun and exciting day of competition. Section Qualifiers and Championships are the first of three phases in the PGA Jr. League All-Star Season, which highlights the aspirational nature of competition celebrated in a way unique to PGA Jr. League. The event at Fremont GC was a 9-hole scramble stroke play qualifier in which each of the nineteen all-star teams (eight players on each team) were broken into four two-person scramble pairs. Ten teams competed in an 8am shotgun and nine teams competed in a 12pm shotgun. Three/four best pair scores for each team were counted for the team total score. There were two flights (the front 9 from the 8am and 12pm waves combined and the back 9 from the 8am and 12pm waves combined) in which the best two scores from each flight advanced to the Section Championship, which will be held on Saturday, August 8 th at The Club at Indian Creek (Red Feather Course). The four teams who advanced to the 2026 Nebraska PGA Jr. League Section Championship are the Eastern Nebraska All-Stars, Firethorn Fireballs A All-Stars, Field Club of Omaha AllStars and Capital City All-Stars. The official results are below. The top team at the Section Championship will advance to the Regional stage, which will be hosted at Paradise Pointe GC in Smithville, MO on October 2-4, 2026.
