The Nebraska Section PGA has announced Carly Ulrich, PGA the recipient of the Wilson Sporting Goods Monthly Game Ball for the month of August

The Nebraska PGA Section is proud to recognize Carly Ulrich, PGA, Director of Player Development at Fremont Golf Club, as the August Wilson Sporting Goods Game Ball recipient. The Wilson Game Ball Award recognizes PGA Professionals who go above and beyond in serving their facilities, communities, and the game of golf. Ulrich’s impact at Fremont Golf Club can be seen through her commitment to player development, junior golf, women’s programming, and creating opportunities for golfers of all ages to develop a lifelong connection with the game. Ulrich was nominated by Nathan Kalin, PGA, who highlighted her passion for teaching and the impact she continues to make through Fremont Golf Club’s player development programs. “Carly Ulrich, PGA, Director of Player Development at Fremont Golf Club, oversees all of the club’s player development programming,” Kalin said. “She designs, manages, and instructs our TRAX Junior Golf program, introducing the game to more than 120 children each year while fostering a fun, engaging environment for young golfers to learn and grow.” Her influence extends well beyond junior golf. Ulrich also leads Fremont Golf Club’s Ladies Welcome to Golf program, incorporating the Operation 36 curriculum into a 10-week series of clinics and oncourse playing experiences. “Through her instruction and encouragement, she has helped many new golfers develop confidence and a lifelong enjoyment of the game,” Kalin said. In addition, Ulrich plays a vital role in coaching Fremont Golf Club’s PGA Jr. League team, which has consistently competed at the highest levels of the program. Continue Reading... Friend, “Quick Takes” is a new quarterly video message you’ll receive from me to better connect with you, keep you informed and give you a sense of what’s ahead for the Association and your membership.

In the Video: 2026 PGA of America Member Survey Results Thank you to those who completed the survey! We gained invaluable feedback, including a 96% renewal intent, 80% PGA Member satisfaction and key opportunities to improve. The 2026 Member Survey Results can be found here.

PGA Forward PGA Forward is our strategic agenda for the PGA of America, bringing greater focus, alignment and accountability to the Association’s mission. PGA Forward focus areas are: Strengthen the Profession, Grow the Game and Elevate Our Championships.

PGA of America Member Recognition This month at the Home of the PGA, David Bennett became the 487th Member to achieve PGA Master Professional status, the highest educational designation available within the Association. What made it even more special? His daughter, Anna, finished her eight -week internship with the PGA Member and Amateur Championships team on the same day.

Moving Forward: As we sharpen our focus internally, we’re simultaneously evaluating the role the PGA of America plays across golf. One of my priorities since coming into this role has been pretty simple: Get out. Listen. Build relationships. I’ve spent time with PGA Members, our Board, our Section Executive Directors and our staff. I’ve also spent a lot of time with leaders across the industry — including the USGA, R&A, Augusta National, PGA TOUR, DP World Tour, LPGA Tour and others. I have a goal of hosting all of these leadership groups at the Home of the PGA of America. Several of those meetings have already happened, with more on the way. Why does that matter? Because I believe the PGA of America has a real opportunity to play an even stronger leadership role across the game. As PGA Members, you are the eyes and ears of the golf industry. You see what is happening in the game in a way very few others do. Your perspective needs to be represented. And we are — and will continue to be — at the table helping shape where golf goes next. Ultimately, that leadership starts with our Members. Thank you, Terry Clark CEO, PGA of America

CORNELL & SCHNELL BIRDIE FIRST PLAYOFF HOLE TO WIN TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP

The Nebraska Section PGA hosted one of its final major championships of the season at Shadow Ridge Country Club with the 2026 Team Championship, presented by Miller & Sons Golf Cars, Evolve Golf, Coors Light, White Claw Hard Seltzer, and Twisted Tea. A total of 36 two-player teams competed in the 36-hole, one-day event. The opening 18 holes featured a best-ball format, followed by a scramble format for the final 18. After several days of consistent rainfall leading up to the championship, preferred lies were implemented for the duration of the tournament. The championship began with a 9:00 a.m. shotgun start, and low scores quickly followed. Ted DiGiacomo of Happy Hollow Club and Brian Steventon, PGA, of Shadow Ridge Country Club got off to a fast start, carding five birdies over their first nine holes to grab an early share of the lead. The best round of the best-ball portion came from Nebraska Men’s Golf Coach Judd Cornell, PGA, and Brady Schnell of Firethorn Golf Club, who posted a blistering 8-under-par 64. Scoring heated up even more during the afternoon scramble, with several teams taking advantage of the format. Defending champions Mark Foelbaek, PGA, of Country Club of Lincoln and Caleb Badura of Whispering Creek Golf Club entered the day looking to repeat. After opening with a 5-under-par 67 in the best-ball portion, the duo needed something special in the afternoon—and they delivered. Foelbaek and Badura caught fire during the final 18 holes, firing an incredible 13-under-par 59 to surge up the leaderboard. Their spectacular closing round moved them to 18-under for the championship and gave them the clubhouse lead. Continue Reading….. PAGE 10  Nebraska PGA News  August 2026

VERMEER SCORCHES HILLCREST CC TO CLAIM LOW - PRO HONORS

One month after the Nebraska Section PGA hosted its annual Section Championship at Hillcrest Country Club, the Section returned to the Lincoln facility for another Pro-Am event, presented by Nebraska Golf & Turf (Club Car). A field of 30 teams featuring Nebraska PGA Professionals and their amateur partners competed on a day that offered perfect weather and ideal scoring conditions. The Professionals competed in an individual stroke-play event, while the team competition featured the unique “Lone Ranger” format. On each hole, one team member is designated as the “Lone Ranger,” with the position rotating throughout the round. Player A begins as the Lone Ranger on the 1st hole, followed by Player B on the 2nd, Player C on the 3rd, Player D on the 4th, and then back to Player A on the 5th. Two scores count toward the team total on each hole, one of which must be the Lone Ranger’s score. The second score is the lowest score recorded by one of the other three players. The team with the lowest cumulative score at the end of the round is crowned the champion. Continue Reading…. PAGE 11  Nebraska PGA News  August 2026

CAREER CONSULTANT Kevin Drew, PGA PGA of America Career Consultant Serving the Nebraska & Iowa Sections Auditioning for the RolePeople Hear What They See Often, consultants are contacted by golf professionals inquiring about the big-time jobs that are open, and they think they are qualified to get the position. My response is often, “Do you think that you are qualified for that position?” What have you accomplished at your current facility that would convince the employer to think that you are a must-hire? You must take the mindset that you are auditioning for the next job each day of your current job. A lot of truth goes into that statement! Look at yourself: are you dressed for the part? Is your shop equal or at least merchandised to the level of your dream job? Do you dress the part? Do you dress very casually, wearing shorts and tennis shoes at work each day because their membership is okay with that code? What happens when a member brings a guest from a high- profile club and views both your appearance and the shop’s appearance? Do you think he can really envision you as the golf professional at his facility? The answer probably lies with it being acceptable by my membership, and that is what they expect. However, that is not the expectation at the better facilities. To Improve Performance, Dress How You Want To Act-Besides looking more reliable, it turns out dressing more formally could make you act that way too. When research subjects wore lab coats, they acted more attentive and careful. The results of these studies shouldn't surprise us. We all (consciously or not), know that people hear what they see. How we choose to dress is normally viewed as a reflection of who we are. For example, for decades, people have been advised in their careers to, "Dress for the job you want, not the one you have." The idea being people need to visualize you in the role in order to make the decision to give it to you - and the clothes will help them see you as a fit. Credibility is large in our profession; the three initials of the PGA carry a lot of respect and expectations from our members and customers. Credibility is why airlines want their pilots to dress in admiral-style apparel, a jacket with gold-decorated stripes and trim to display confidence. This is why doctors on television commercials promoting health products always wear a white lab coat to display credibility. Presentation is everything, so is perception! How a golf professional conducts himself away from his /her facility carries volume as well. How do you present yourself at events such as the State Open or a section pro-am where you are mingling with the top amateurs in the area? Often, they may be decision makers on a selection committee. Are you constantly partying while away from your facility, staying out late each night, barely making your scheduled tee time? How did you present yourself at the last job interview? Remember, you must prepare yourself for the next opportunity, and there is no better way than dressing the part and demonstrating that you can carry the torch. DISTRICT 8 DIRECTOR Aaron Krueger, PGA PGA of America District 8 Director Serving Nebraska, Iowa & Minnesota Sections

Dear Nebraska PGA Members & Associates: It’s hard to believe we are already approaching Labor Day and the start of football season! There is always plenty to look forward to this time of year, but it’s also hard to say goodbye to seasonal staff members as they return to college or high school. While I won’t be cheering for the Huskers football team anytime soon, I have certainly become a big fan of the UNL PGM Program. Emersen Motl, from Ames, Iowa, is a sophomore in the UNL PGM program and was an intern on our golf staff this summer. She was a tremendous addition to our team and was recently recognized as a PGA WORKS John & Tamara Lundgren Scholar for 2026–27! We also hired UNL PGM student Kai Nelles in January 2026 to lead our instructional programs. Emersen and Kai are just two examples of the outstanding work Joe Canny and the entire PGM team are doing at UNL. The Nebraska PGA should be extremely proud of the program, the students it is developing and the future PGA Professionals it is preparing for our industry. It’s incumbent upon us to continue inspiring junior golfers and encouraging them to consider a career as a PGA member.

PGA Member Survey & PGA Forward The PGA of America recently completed a comprehensive member survey, receiving nearly 9,000 responses, 10% above the participation goal. That level of engagement provides our PGA of America staff and Board with invaluable insight into what members believe we are doing well, where we need to improve and where our priorities should be moving forward. PGA of America CEO Terry Clark provided a great overview of the survey results and what comes next in his first Quick Takes video. Terry also discussed PGA Forward, a strategic agenda designed to build upon our mission through three primary pillars: 1. Strengthening the Profession 2. Growing the Game 3. Elevating Our Championships You will hear much more about PGA Forward in the coming months, but I am encouraged by the focus and excited to see us strategically working to strengthen the PGA through these three pillars.

PAGE 20  Nebraska PGA News  August 2026

Nebraska PGA Recognized Among Top Sections Another important component of the member survey focused on how PGA Members feel about their local Sections. To no one’s surprise, the Nebraska PGA received outstanding feedback from its membership. Thanks to the leadership of your Board and Officers, along with the tremendous work of the Nebraska PGA staff led by David Honnens, PGA, the Section rated very highly across areas including overall satisfaction, engagement, sense of belonging, education, leadership, networking, member support and strategic alignment. Those results earned the Nebraska PGA recognition as one of the PGA’s Top Sections in this survey! Those results reflect the work being done every day to serve Nebraska PGA Members and create value at the Section level and recognize the amazing work done with PGA REACH Nebraska. Congratulations to David, the staff, your Board and Officers, and all of you who contribute to making the Nebraska PGA such a strong Section. The information gathered through a survey is only valuable if we act upon what we learn. As Terry Clark stated in his first Quick Takes video, “My commitment is to keep turning member feedback into action, keep moving the Association forward, and keep you updated along the way.” That commitment is important. Since PGA Members took the time to share their perspectives, and now it is our responsibility as an Association to listen, respond and demonstrate progress. I look forward to seeing Terry and his team continue that work, and I look forward to keeping you updated as PGA Forward and other initiatives develop. Thank you for everything you do for the Nebraska PGA, the PGA of America and the game of golf!

Sincerely,

Aaron Krueger, PGA District 8 Director, PGA of America Board of Directors General Manager, Wakonda Club

PGA Jr. League Nebraska Section Championship was thHeld at The Club at Indian Creek on Sunday, August 9 Eight All-Star teams of junior golfers competed for the opportunity to advance to the Regional Championship Elkhorn, Nebraska (August 9, 2026) – For the fifth year in a row, The Club at Indian Creek hosted the PGA Jr. League Nebraska Section Championship, with four All-Star teams of junior golfers ages 14-17 in a division and four All-Star teams of junior golfers ages 10-13 in another division. The players and their families joined in on what was an amazing opportunity and memorable experience for everyone involved. Section Qualifiers and Championships are the first of three phases in the PGA Jr. League All-Star Season, which highlights the aspirational nature of competition celebrated in a way unique to PGA Jr. League. This championship event was a 9-hole scramble stroke play qualifier played on the Red Feather Course in which each of the all-star teams were broken into two-person scramble pairs (four pairs on each team counting the best three of four pair scores for the team total). Due to inclement weather on Saturday, the event was postponed to Sunday the 9th. The day was more than just a junior championship as it was in collaboration with the Pinnacle Bank Championship (PBC), which has been a regular stop for the Korn Ferry Tour as professionals are attempting to earn their PGA TOUR card. Saturday included a putt-putt course and Nebraska Athlete autograph station as part of the PBC Youth Day and the opportunity to hit on the driving range right next to the professional golfers. The low score of each division was crowned as the Section Champion and also punched their ticket to the Regional Championship, which will be held on October 2-4 at Paradise Pointe GC in Smithville, MO. The team who advanced to the Regional Event in the 17u Division is The Miracle Hill (Green) All-Stars. In the 13u Division it was the Eastern Nebraska All-Stars. The official results are below. Following recreational play in the spring and summer, hundreds of 13u All-Star teams (boys and girls ages 1013) and 17u All-Star teams (boys and girls ages 14-17), are formed from a combination of players in each league. Section Champions from both age divisions advance to the Regional stage of competition at one of 12 sites in the fall. Ultimately, twelve 13u Regional champions will vie for the title at the PGA Jr. League Championship at PGA Frisco’s Fields Ranch West, November 11-15, to be broadcast live on select ESPN networks. The 17u National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship is at Twin Warriors Golf Club in New Mexico on October 22-25. PGA Jr. League is the flagship youth pillar program of the PGA of America’s 501(c)(3) foundation, PGA REACH, with the goal of making the program accessible to all youth regardless of background, circumstance or ability. Boys and girls ages 17 and under learn and play golf on teams, wear numbered jerseys and receive expert coaching from PGA Professionals.

PROMOTE YOUR FALL SEASON NOW!

Your summer PGA Jr. League season may be ending, but it doesn’t mean the fun has to stop anytime soon! With students heading back to school, it’s vital you get your fall leagues on their calendars now! Publish your fall program as soon as possible and make sure you’re communicating with previous players as well as families with ties to your facility and your community. As a reminder, the $120 GameChanger membership fee the kids have already paid is good all year long. The longer into the year they play, the greater value they get from their membership fee! You are still welcome and encouraged to charge a fall/winter coaching fee to drive revenue. There are plenty of creative ways to keep the fun of PGA Jr. League rolling this fall and winter. "Continuing PGA Jr League with a Fall season has been a great way to build our juniors into competitive players. At The Ridge we change up the format and use a combination of Op36 and PGA Jr. League. The kids love spending time on the course every week and as a coach I enjoy spending more time with the kids developing them into lifelong golfers." —Karrie Van Ravenswaay, PGA Head Golf Professional, The Ridge Golf Club in Sioux Center, IA

Counting all the reasons you can’t have a fall program? Player Engagement Consultant Kim Shafer offered a few solutions in this article: PGA Magazine.

Publish your program. Here’s how. Get the word out. Use word of mouth, email lists, social media and all the promotional tools in the 2026 Marketing Toolkit to make sure your players, their families and your community know about your program. Strike while the iron’s hot. The fun of PGA Jr. League doesn’t have to end with summer — but don’t wait too long to get the word out about your fall programming. Within a couple of days or a week from the end of your summer season, make sure you’re connecting with families and players, encouraging them to invite their friends, and reach out to local community partners such as schools, afterschool clubs, and more with information about your fall PGA Share your calendar as soon as possible. With school starting, family calendars are starting to fill up. Set your practice and game day schedule with school calendars in mind and make sure your program gets first priority by sharing it early. PAGE 41  Nebraska PGA News  August 2026
