Healthy Eating Tips Try one or two (or all!) of the following healthy eating tips the next time you visit a restaurant. Choose a change that you can make today, and move toward a healthier you! For more suggestions on how to eat healthier and feel better, click here to visit ChooseMyPlate.gov.
As a beverage choice, ask for water or order fat-free or low-fat milk, unsweetened tea, or other drinks without added sugars. Ask for whole-wheat bread for sandwiches. In a restaurant, start your meal with a salad packed with veggies, to help control hunger and feel satisfied sooner. Ask for salad dressing to be served on the side. Then use only as much as you want. Choose main dishes that include vegetables, such as stir fries, kebobs, or pasta with a tomato sauce. Order steamed, grilled, or broiled dishes instead of those that are fried or sautéed. Choose a small" or "medium" portion. This includes main dishes, side dishes, and beverages. Order an item from the menu instead heading for the "all-you-caneat" buffet. If main portions at a restaurant are larger than you want, try one of these strategies to keep from overeating: Order an appetizer-sized portion or a side dish instead of an entrée. Share a main dish with a friend. If you can chill the extra food right away, take leftovers home in a "doggy bag." When your food is delivered, set aside or pack half of it to go immediately. Resign from the "clean your plate club" - when you've eaten enough, leave the rest. To keep your meal moderate in calories, fat, and sugars: Ask for salad dressing to be served "on the side" so you can add only as much as you want. Order foods that do not have creamy sauces or gravies Add little or no butter to your food. Choose fruits for dessert most often. On long commutes or shopping trips, pack some fresh fruit, cut-up vegetables, lowfat string cheese sticks, or a handful of unsalted nuts to help you avoid stopping for sweet or fatty snacks.

Play More with FORE! As an extension of other initiatives that first introduce the game, the Nebraska Golf Association created FORE!, a program that will provide opportunities for juniors to play golf more frequently. This statewide initiative will offer deserving youth the opportunity to play some of the area's best courses for $4 putting to use the life skills and values training they learn prior to membership. FORE! will begin in 2012 as a pilot program in the Omaha Metropolitan area. In 2013 FORE! will begin a statewide push. FORE! membership will be open to participants aged 7-17 in one of the following certified programs: First Tee of Omaha, Great Golf Expectations Omaha, Junior Golf Programs at Host Facilities, LPGA/USGA Girls Golf of Omaha, Nebraska Junior Golf Tour and Omaha Metropolitan Area High School Golf Teams. FORE! members will be labeled "Full Access" or "Supervised Access" based on age and or playing ability. "Supervised Access" members must be accompanied by an adult at 18-hole facilities. The fee for both membership classifications is $10 which includes NGA membership. Members will receive their FORE! membership cards once their program director has submitted the completed application and individual memberships are paid. Participating Facilities
Omaha Municipal Golf Courses (Benson, Elmwood, Johnny Goodman, Spring Lake, Steve Hogan, Warren Swigart & Westwood) Papillion Municipal Golf Courses (Eagle Hills & Tara Hills) Funding FORE! is based on the following formula. The NGA has negotiated a preferred junior golf rate with participating facilities. The FORE! member will pay a $4 fee for a round of golf (for 9 or 18 hole rounds). The NGF subsidizes the difference between the preferred rate and the FORE! member payment. Duration FORE! will take place during the months of June and July only. FORE! FAQ’S How do I become a FORE! member?
Am I a NGA member when I receive my FORE! membership card? Yes. FORE! members will receive NGA membership information including details on maintaining a GHIN Handicap Index along with their membership card.

No. Play as many rounds as you can, the more the better as far as we’re concerned. Are there any additional fees besides the $4 per round for golf? The fee for membership is $10. Each 9 or 18-hole round is $4. That’s it.
No. Participating golf courses may limit some rounds based on availability. FORE! members cannot make a tee time reservation more than 48 hours in advance. Prior to that full paying customers have priority. 15
