A geologist’s take on one of the world’s most magnificent destinations!

Designed by famed Modernist (Catalan Modernism) architect Anton Gaudi, Parc Guell began construction in 1900 and sits on sedimentary rock dating back to the Silurian, Devonian, and Carboniferous periods. Today, travelers from all over the world come to the park to gaze at the skyline of Barcelona, sit on the gorgeous undulating benches on the Mosaic Terrace, and, as I experienced this past July, stand in my way as I try to take pictures of every outcrop in the park.
