The boys golf team gets a “pandemic-version” clap out as they drive a lap around NDCL on their way to states.

Boys Golf ended
the season in Columbus at the State Tournament. Finishing 8th overall, the team’s performance was led by senior Zander Gibson who finished as First Team AllOhio.
“Everyone showed up with their best game,” Gibson said of their time in Columbus. “Some guys had their best rounds of the year which really motivated each other. We lost a lot of experience from last year and didn’t know what to expect heading into 2020. But it was a fun year!”

The NDCL Volleyball team made an incredible run in the state tournament, losing by the narrowest of margins in the state championship game. Following a 2019 season in which the team made it to the regional semifinals, the team geared up for another deep postseason run from day one. “It’s every girl’s dream to win a state championship,” says sophomore Caroline Jurevicius. “Even though it didn’t happen, the experience made all the hard work worth it.” Senior Hanna Bissler adds, “Losing such a close game was devastating, yet motivating at the same time. It shows the potential this team has going forward.”

It’s become the norm for the NDCL Boys Cross Country
team to qualify for states. With plenty of veteran experience plus promising young athletes, coach Ralph White’s team is in a position to excel for many years. Unfortunately, a mandatory COVID-19 quarantine for the boys team went into effect just as the team was preparing to leave for Columbus.
“We have a phenomenal coaching staff that pushes us both mentally and physically,” says senior Mikey Welsh. “Our goal was to make it to states and we did. I’m proud of everybody.”

NDCL’s McGarry Gymnasium marked its 30th anniversary last year. With that came a “refresh” of the space that is home to Lions basketball, volleyball, pep rallies, and all-school masses.
New signage greets visitors as they enter the gym lobby and proudly declares
New state of the art speakers and projection system were added to enhance the audio visual experience for spectators and all-school masses. School spirit is all around as new signage including the alma mater surrounds spectators in McGarry Gym.

A re-imagined Championship Wall celebrates the achievements of NDCL’s athletic teams over the years. Newly added were two Cathedral Latin banners celebrating its state championships in football and basketball.
