Letter From The Principal Dear Notre Dame Prep Community, Twenty-five years ago, Notre Dame Preparatory opened its doors with a bold vision: to provide an exceptional Catholic education where students could grow in faith, pursue excellence, and discover who God was calling them to become. As we celebrate our 25th anniversary, it is remarkable to look at how far we have come. What began with a vision has grown into the vibrant community we know today, filled with students learning, praying, competing, creating, serving, and becoming Saints. None of this happens by accident. For 25 years, families, alumni, grandparents, faculty and staff, volunteers, businesses, and friends have chosen to invest in Notre Dame Prep through their time, talent, and treasure. They have volunteered, shared their expertise, opened doors, built traditions, and generously supported our mission. Together, those gifts have strengthened our classrooms, expanded opportunities for our students, enhanced our campus, supported athletics and the arts, provided tuition assistance, deepened faith formation, and created experiences that have shaped generations of Saints. But the story of philanthropy at Notre Dame Prep is about much more than what has been given. It is about what those gifts have made possible. Throughout this special 25th anniversary edition of our Advancement Review, you will see some of those stories. You will meet members of our community whose lives have been shaped by Notre Dame Prep, celebrate families who have helped shape our school, see the difference generosity has made across our campus, and recognize those whose faithful support, year after year, continues to strengthen our mission. As we honor our first 25 years, I am filled with gratitude for everyone who helped bring Notre Dame Prep to this moment. Each generation has added something to the story of our school, and together, you have created a legacy that will continue to impact Saints for years to come. Timeline
There are moments in every great story when the future is uncertain. In 2001, this campus faced that kind of moment. When the TesseracT Group, a for-profit education management company closed all its campuses in the 1990s, this school became available for sale. Then, with hope and vision, the Roman Catholic Diocese of Phoenix stepped forward and purchased the land, believing there could be a Catholic High School there to meet the needs of the community. What marked the end of the one story became the beginning of ours. There were no long-standing traditions yet. No generations of alumni. No history to look back on; only vision for the future. In the fall of 2002, Notre Dame Preparatory officially opened its doors. The school welcomed just over 200 students—150 freshmen and 73 sophomores—and a faculty of 13 teachers. Parts of the campus were

still under construction, including the 800 Building, and many of the traditions that define NDP today had yet to be created. What existed, however, was a clear vision: to form young men and women in faith, scholarship, leadership, and service. That vision quickly became reality. In 2005, the first class of Saints crossed the graduation stage. Seventytwo students became the foundation of a legacy that continues to grow today. More than two decades later, the impact of those early years has come full circle, with members of those first classes returning to campus to serve and inspire the next generation of students.

As the school grew, so did the campus. The early years saw the completion of the 800 Building, the chapel, and the gym—spaces that became central to student life and faith formation. Over the next decade, continued investment brought new opportunities for students, including

From 2015 to 2025, Notre Dame Prep entered a period of remarkable growth and impact. Enrollment expanded to nearly 1,000 students, while Saints continued to achieve exceptional college outcomes and dedicate thousands of hours to service each year. Athletics, fine arts, and leadership programs flourished, and alumni carried the mission of Notre Dame Prep into their communities and professions around the world.

Ways To Make An Impact There are many ways to support Notre Dame Prep. Whether through time, talent, treasure, or prayer, every contribution helps strengthen our students and our mission.
CASH, STOCK, & DAFs Make an immediate impact with a gift of cash, check, credit card, appreciated securities, or a grant from your donor-advised fund (DAF). These gifts make an immediate impact on our students and mission.
IRA / QUALIFIED CHARITABLE DISTRIBUTIONS Age 70.5 or older? A Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) allows eligible donors to give directly from an IRA to Notre Dame Prep and may count toward required minimum distributions (RMDs) while offering potential tax advantages.
GIFT IN KIND Donations of goods, services, equipment, or other resources can help meet specific needs across our campus. Please contact the Advancement Office before making an in-kind gift to ensure it aligns with a current school priority.
CORPORATE ARIZONA TAX CREDIT Arizona businesses can redirect some of their state taxes to help students attend NDP. Eligible businesses contribute through a certified School Tuition Organization and may recommend Notre Dame Prep. These dollars provide tuition scholarships for qualifying students, helping make an NDP education possible for more families. Deadline: By the end of the calendar year

From campus signage and digital advertising to event visibility and year-round opportunities, our marketing partnerships connect businesses with the NDP community while helping support our students and mission. INDIVIDUAL ARIZONA TAX CREDIT You can choose where some of your Arizona tax dollars go. Instead of sending all of your state taxes to Arizona, you can make a tax credit contribution through a certified School Tuition Organization and recommend Notre Dame Prep. These dollars provide tuition scholarships that help students attend NDP. Deadline: April 15
MATCHING GIFTS Double your donation — and sometimes even triple it! Many employers match charitable gifts made by their employees, making your support go even further. Check with your employer to see if they participate. You can also be the match by providing a matching gift that inspires others to give during special NDP giving opportunities.

Patron Saints, Dwayne & Debbi Douglas
It is our delight to honor Debbi and Dwayne Douglas as our 2026 Patron Saint Awardees. The Patron Saint Award is our school’s highest award recognizing extraordinary contributions of time, talent and treasure in support of our mission. When the Douglases came to Notre Dame Prep in 2014, they didn’t know any other families except for Dwayne’s brother Paul’s family. Living 45 minutes away, there were no other families from their girls’ previous school attending NDP. While their daughters Devin ‘18 and McKenna ‘22 were Saints, Debbi and Dwayne plunged headlong into volunteering. Debbi served as Mothers’ Guild President with her sister-in-law, Lauri Douglas, and she co-chaired Grandparents’ Day for many years. Dwayne was the team photographer for girls’ volleyball for eight years, helped with Grandparents’ Day, and served as an assistant softball coach for our Saints softball team. Dwayne never missed golfing in our Annual Golf Tournament while Debbi volunteered at the event. “We had to get involved so that we could meet people and make friends,” Debbi said, “Our oldest daughter, Devin, really wanted to go to NDP, and so we made the commitment...and the drive.” The

two never regretted that decision. “We love this school and the faith of the students,” Dwayne said, getting a little emotional. When he coached softball, he was inspired and moved by the way the girls prayed together and picked each other up. “I don’t remember wins and losses, but I remember their faith,” he continued. Devin and McKenna competed on the girls’ volleyball team, were Kairos leaders and very good students. Devin followed in her parents’ footsteps and attended college at ASU, while Mckenna followed her volleyball dream and attended San Diego State University. “Our girls were so happy at NDP, and they were very prepared for college and beyond,” Debbi said. “They took advantage of all the benefits this school offers in terms of rigorous academics, small class sizes, teacher accessibility and of course, the excellent volleyball program.”

They are now counted among others whose impact on our school have earned the Patron Saint Award in the past, such as our first principal Dave Gonsalves and legendary coach, Scot Bemis. “We are humbled to be included with such amazing people,” Dwayne expressed. “It’s an amazing honor. We are grateful.”
Debbi and Dwayne embody what it means to be Saints- giving back and believing in the mission of Notre Dame Prep. Their story and generosity highlight how parent involvement can create a lasting legacy for our school community.

Principal’s Circle The Principal’s Circle recognizes the leadership generosity of donors whose philanthropic support advances the mission of Notre Dame Preparatory. While the NDP Fund remains the cornerstone of charitable support at NDP, membership in The Principal’s Circle reflects generosity across the many ways donors invest in our mission, including annual giving, fundraising events, scholarships, capital initiatives, and other philanthropic priorities that strengthen our students, programs, campus, and future. Membership is extended to individuals, families, businesses, and foundations that contribute $2,500 or more during the fiscal year (July 1–June 30). Young alumni (2005–present) who contribute $500 or more are also included as members. Members are invited to receptions hosted by the principal each fall. Faith in Action: A Legacy of Generosity & Service When Scott and Kathy King arrived at Notre Dame Preparatory in 2002, the school was still finding its footing. There were just over 200 students, a small faculty, and a campus that was still under construction. What existed in abundance, however, was a shared belief in the school’s mission and an unwavering commitment from families determined to help it succeed. For the Kings, supporting Notre Dame Prep became a family endeavor rooted in faith, service, and community. Their involvement began almost immediately. Kathy volunteered in the cafeteria, serving meals and helping organize snack sales that provided crucial support for clubs and athletic programs. Scott coached track, worked alongside other parents on campus projects, and contributed wherever help was needed. “Everybody was very enthusiastic about building a good foundation,” Kathy recalls. “Everyone wanted the same goal—to make it a great experience for their kids.” In those early years, much of what defines Notre Dame Prep today had yet to be built. Student productions rehearsed and performed in the cafeteria long before the Performing Arts Center existed. Athletic teams practiced at
borrowed facilities across the Valley before Bemis Field became the heart of campus life. Parents, faculty, and staff worked together to create opportunities for students, often relying on volunteer hours and a shared sense of purpose. “It was all hands on deck in those days,” Scott says. “Everybody really supported the school, and it was wonderful to watch it grow.” As their three children progressed through Notre Dame Prep, the Kings witnessed firsthand the transformative impact of a Catholic education. Beyond academic excellence, they found a community that reinforced the values they taught at home— reverence, respect, and responsibility. “We wanted our children to receive a Catholic education,” Kathy explains, “and to continue those values as part of their everyday life.” The investment made by families like the Kings extended far beyond their own children. Through countless volunteer hours, generous support, and steadfast dedication, they helped lay the foundation for the school that Notre Dame Prep has become today. Over the past twenty-five years, the campus has evolved with the addition of Bemis Field, the Performing Arts Center, and countless

enhancements that have expanded opportunities for students. Yet for Scott and Kathy, Notre Dame Prep’s greatest strength has always been its people. The friendships formed during those formative years continue to this day—not only among their children, but among the parents who built the school alongside them. Their children still point to Notre Dame Prep as the place where they formed lifelong relationships and gained the educational foundation that prepared them for future success. “It was a privilege to be involved,” Kathy reflects, “especially at the ground floor, watching it grow.” As we celebrate 25 years of generosity, the story of Scott and Kathy King serves as a reminder that Notre Dame Prep was built not only through visionary leadership and financial support but through the faithful service of families who believed deeply in its mission. Their legacy lives on in every student, every tradition, and every future Saint who walks through our doors.

Faithful Through the Years
For nearly two decades, Mike Harvey has been a faithful and ardent supporter of Notre Dame Preparatory, generously sharing his time, talent, and treasure to strengthen the school and its mission. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mike went on to build a career with Procter and Gamble. His connection to Notre Dame Preparatory became deeply personal as the father of two NDP alumni, Ryan ‘11 and C.J. ‘13. Over the years, Mike has found countless ways to give back to the school community and help it thrive.
Mike’s service to NDP has taken many forms. He has served as President of the Booster Club, Co-Chair of the Golf Tournament, a member of one of the Capital Campaigns, and an Ex-Officio member of the School Board. In April 2013, he was honored with the Patron Saint Award in recognition of his extraordinary commitment to Notre Dame Preparatory. In 2025, Mike’s legacy of service was further recognized when he was inducted into the Notre Dame Preparatory Hall of Fame.
Over the past decade, Mike has devoted an extraordinary amount of time and talent to documenting the people, events, and spirit of Notre Dame Preparatory. Combining his love of sports and competition with his passion for the school, he has focused much of his photography on NDP athletes, while also capturing the many moments that make up life on campus. With more than 400,000 images published, and likely more than four million photographs taken over the years, his camera has become a remarkable visual record of the Notre Dame Preparatory experience. His photographs appear throughout the NDP website, marketing publications, social media, and other communications, helping tell the story of a vibrant Christian community. Through his lens, Mike has captured championships and celebrations, moments of perseverance and joy, and the everyday experiences that become treasured memories for students and families. Mike’s commitment to Notre Dame Preparatory is ultimately about much more than photographs, volunteer hours, or financial support. It is about
believing in the mission of the school and investing in the people who make that mission possible. For nearly twenty years, Mike has continued to show what it means to be a Saint; not simply by being present, but by serving, giving, creating, and preserving the memories of the community he loves. His photographs tell the story of Notre Dame Preparatory, but his years of faithful service are an equally important part of that story.
Mike’s most enduring gift to the NDP community, however, has been his photography.

A Tradition of Fashion & Philanthropy As Notre Dame Preparatory celebrates 25 years of forming Saints, few traditions capture the heart of our community quite like the Auction Fashion Show. Each spring, the event brings together generations of families for an evening that celebrates our seniors while advancing the mission that has shaped students for a quarter century. As the spotlight shines and the first senior steps onto the runway, a hush falls over the ballroom before the applause begins. Proud parents smile through tears, friends cheer from their tables, and a community comes together to celebrate a milestone years in the making. For the students, the Notre Dame Preparatory Auction Fashion Show is a memorable senioryear tradition. For the school, it is the largest annual fundraising event, providing critical support for scholarships, academic programs, athletics, fine arts, campus improvements, and the faith-filled educational experience that defines NDP.
