am excited to bring you this 2023 Year In Review for New Dimensions Evangelism! And I am more excited as we enter our 43rd year of ministry!

I believe in 2024, God has some incredible connections for this little ministry. We are doing significant things for the Kingdom.

2023 was a great year for New Dimensions.

JANUARY January started strong with my local event, Mind, Myth, & Magic, in downtown Mount Dora. Seeing this small, intimate event bring in locals and tourists has been a blessing.

I returned to Gulf Breeze, Florida, just outside Pensacola, for a school outreach event. We had a fantastic day! Seeing more than 800 kids during the day and 500 kids and parents returning for the family night event. So fun!

PRE-TEEN EXTREME CONFERENCE

FEBRUARY After 22 years in our offices on Limit Ave in Mount Dora, change was in the air. In February, we moved to a much smaller location, but in the heart of downtown. It was a very emotional move after such a long tenure. However, the downtown space is perfect for our needs at this time.

I returned to Sarasota for another school outreach, again for a school that I hadn't been to since 2019. It was so great to see the large crowd for our family night.

Another Mind, Myth & Magic weekend in Mount Dora and then over to a teaching workshop for a group in The Villages. This was my second time with this bunch; it is always a great time. You're always young enough to learn something new! As we moved toward the end of the month, I was honored to work again with my friend and Kid Min pastor, Ric Callahan. Ric and I met more than twenty years ago when he brought kids to Lake Forest Ranch, the week I was the camp speaker.

Ric brought me in for school outreach and three days of encouraging kids and families at Westwood Baptist in Alabaster, Alabama. A powerful week pouring into kids and parents!

Then I got to officiate the wedding of Jim & Vicki Cull, a sweet couple who began attending our church last summer.

The first quarter of the year was over. I had one more school outreach at the beginning of the month. Then April allowed me to slow down just a bit to prepare for Easter and something else pretty important: My mom, Winona Humston, turned 80 on the 10th!

My sisters and our families planned a celebration at her home on the 15th. We had more than fifty folks drop in to celebrate her! Fantastic food, a live band, family, friends, and fun as we celebrated her life just up the road from where she was born. My mom is quite the lady if I do say so myself. (If you've read my book, you've gained some insight into her and her life.)

As a pastor's wife for over fifty years, she was in the trenches of twenty-fourhour-a-day ministry, yet her faith grew more powerful each year. Mom, thank you for raising your three kids "in a way they should go." Though her memory is fading, she is a daily reminder to me of the power of walking with Christ for a lifetime. I love you, Mom, and I am honored to be your son.

Our family went from the joyous celebration of my mom to the sudden post-surgery death of my father-in-law, John Reindl, on the 25th. John was a quiet man who had a deep faith. I was honored that my mother-in-law, Gail, asked me to speak at his funeral. John served our country as a young man in the Air Force and then with a contractor working for NASA at the Cape for many years. John and Gail married in 1999 after the death of their spouses years earlier. He was a loving and gentle man to Gail. He loved traveling, music, and food. My kinda guy! He is deeply missed.

I closed the month with two more soldout Mind, Myth & Magic shows. This was the last of the weekend events until the start of the new season in August.

As you can imagine, the month was a roller coaster of emotions. God's direction and guidance saw us through.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 reminds us, "To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven..."

MAY The important stuff continued in May, as we went to Mississippi to see our second oldest, Abigail, and her husband, Chazz, from Mississippi College in Clinton.

Abby has received a degree in Nursing and Chazz in Criminal Justice. They have both moved to Nashville, where Abby works at St. Thomas Hospital, and Chazz is at a law firm. We are so proud of them!

I jumped into three more school outreach events in Central and South Florida. Then, I was asked to return to fill in at WonderWorks in Orlando. It's been great to have been a part of this unique dinner show for the last six years!

JUNE

As a Family Pastor at my church, June is a busy kid-focused month.

With Vacation Bible School and Kids' Camp, the month moves quickly, and 2023 was no exception. However, I still was able to work in some local summer events in Leesburg, Kissimmee, and Groveland, Florida. In addition to these, I was able to fill in spots at WonderWorks in Orlando.

Although my performing & preaching schedule was light, we started an online resource for children's ministry leaders and pastors; dubbed KidMin Hacks, we started creating weekly resources free of charge. Check out the next page for the fantastic details!

There are many online groups dedicated to ministry. As a member of several of these, I saw a need for insightful resources to help Kid Ministers. Our ministry assistant, Zyrah, is a very talented creator. At her direction, we launched KidMin Hacks, a weekly free resource, in June. Since June, we've created a new resource every Friday to help kid ministers, pastors, and children's leaders more effectively share the gospel. Philly Nazarene District Kids Camp

This was one of the last camps I did in 2019. They had rescheduled me for 2020, which obviously didn't work out. So, we shot for 2021. And I came down with Covid. So we rescheduled in 2022, and my wife came home from a camp she was a nurse at with Covid, so out of an abundance of caution, I had to postpone until 2023.

So, finally, I was able to be back with them. It was a delightful camp; pouring deeper into the little ones' hearts is always a blessing! Back from PA, it was then back to WonderWorks for a night, and then a return trip to Abilene, Texas, to be back with Wylie Baptist for a Family Night event. So great!

AUGUST August started with a performance at WonderWorks and then to the Magic Live! conference in Las Vegas, which I last attended in 2019. Seeing old friends, meeting new ones, and learning new things was terrific!

Back from Vegas in time to kick off the 4th season of my local show, Mind, Myth & Magic. I also began a new challenge in August: a new diet and fitness routine. I knew I needed to be in better shape. It was a great journey and one I am still on in 2024. I lost 20lbs and got back to the gym after a three-year absence. I hope that is an encouragement to you. You can do it, too!

SEPTEMBER

September Highlights

As September began, I returned to Holy Trinity School in Melbourne. I've been kicking off their school year for more than twenty years! It is always a blessing!

Then, I encouraged volunteers at Grace Pointe Church in Lake Mary, Florida.

Pastor Wayne Thomas and I have worked together several times over the last fifteen years. It was a delightful evening!

A quick trip to Charleston for another incredible school outreach event. I turned 51 that day. It was a great gift to Share Wonder with more than 800 people during the family night event!

I got back home for the local parlor show. Then, we celebrated my mother-in-law Gail and her 80th birthday with friends and family in Titusville. On the last of the month, I got to be with Jonah's Joy for their annual Comedy With A Cause fundraising event in Crossville, Tennessee. It was a fun night sharing the stage with comedian and all-around passionate guy Nazareth. (Check out the Podcast I did with him at scotthumston.com/the-2023-year-in-review/ or at the QR code)

OCTOBER I returned from Crossville on Saturday, the last day of September. After my services here in Mount Dora on Sunday, October 1st, Tim DeTellis, president of New Missions, picked me up. We headed up to Starke, Florida, to be with Cross Church and the Laugh All Night comedy concert.

NOVEMBER Advent Health's Annual Gala

The first weekend in November, I hosted part of The Daytona Festival of Magic again as an MC. That's always a great event!

Then, I presented my local parlor show to two sold-out audiences. It was great to be back with College Road Baptist in Ocala for their volunteer appreciation banquet. Dr. Alan Cotney is a delight to work with as we encouraged and thanked their many volunteers.

I spent a day at Idlewylde Baptist for the Florida Baptist Convention, connecting with new friends and reconnecting with the old.

That event is always such an encouraging time!

As we approached Thanksgiving, I spoke again with Powerhouse, a youth mentoring program in our local county. The president, Scott Chevalier, and I go back thirty years when we lived in Nashville. It was a blessing to speak into 120 high school students' lives as they celebrated graduation from this program. My family and I had quite the honor this month, too. We were invited to Advent Health's Annual Gala. (Advent Health is Florida's most extensive healthcare system).

The evening was fantastically fun as we spent it with friends enjoying a private concert with musician Sting. Thank you, Ayslinn, for the invite to an incredible evening!

We loaded up and headed to Tennessee on the last day of the month.

DECEMBER

I have done this event for thirty years!

What a delight! I flew home to be with my church family on Sunday, then back to Nashville to Share Wonder with two long-standing clients: First United Methodist in Franklin and First United Methodist in Brentwood.

In mid-December, I closed out the performing with the last two local Mind, Myth, & Magic shows of 2023. My family returned to Middle Tennessee on Christmas Day to have dinner with my sisters, their families, and my mom and mother-in-law.

2023 was another great year living into the mission of FaithKidz ministries - sharing the story of God with the next generation.

In addition to all the creative consulting work this past year, Steve traveled to and spoke at camps, VBS, training events, and much more in TN, Indiana, Florida, and New York The highlights of this past year include the work with Shepherd Community Church in Indianapolis. Steve also created Indigo the Bluejay - the mascot/spokesbird for Shepherd. Steve helped produce several Indy videos for Shepherd, plus he made several live appearances for the kids and families.

This August, Steve led puppetry and magic arts camps for the students at Challenge Charter School in Far Rockaway, New York. He is also the creator of Champ the Cheetah.

Champ is the mascot puppet for Challenge and Steve continues his work developing character education resources for the faculty of Challenge.

As 2023 came to an end, Steve began the product of Peace Out - a three-week children’s curriculum commissioned by Compassion Ministries - Church of the Nazarene - North America. Launching in February of 2024, Peace Out will provide a resource for local churches to help kids and families engage in blessing their communities through service projects that share the love and peace of Jesus.
