ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES Beth Bathe From Lancaster PA, Beth Bathe’s representational paintings have been described by art critics as “Evoking nostalgia, like that of an old sepia toned photograph, often with just touches of color.” Curiosity about the medium Beth works is often the first question of many viewers. ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES Elise Bond Elise Bond resides in Cape May County, NJ and is formerly from Chester Springs, PA. In the early 2000’s, she was the owner of a successful mural company and is now a full-time artist showing her work on both coasts. For the last two years she has been focused on painting various Women in the Arts. Initially inspired by the vintage glamour of the 1920’s and then moving into succeeding decades, she created sepiatoned portraits juxtaposed against colorful wallpapered backgrounds. This series has since evolved to adorning her subjects with elaborate "crowns" and creatures, implementing her love of nature. "Throughout the history of art there has been a glaring absence of female artists. Even today, women remain dramatically underrepresented in the art world. My objective is to raise awareness of women in all of the arts and to celebrate their lives and achievements. This process has been a very personal journey of discovery for me. In researching the challenges that have shaped these women, I have found that there is a little bit of each of their stories that resonates with me as a female artist. Equally, there is a little part of myself that resides in each painting." WEBSITE:

ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES Ann Guidera-Matey I have been working with pastels for approximately 30 years. My rhythmic and balanced compositions reflect the tranquility of the moment. Favorite places of inspiration include the Eastern Shore of Maryland, the New Jersey Shore, the Brandywine River Valley, Hudson, New York and Maine. Past trips to Ireland, France and Italy have energized my work. Pastel is my primary medium and its immediacy and vibrant colors convey, joy, wonderment or peace. I apply my pastels to a panel that a under painted with warm orange, peach and purple acrylics which allow the paintings to glow. The acrylic underpainting is then coated with a pumice mixture to provider rich textures. After raising my family and leaving a position in arts administration, I am now able to pursue my passion for pastels full time. Now living in Rose Valley PA with my husband, I paint at Heron Crest Studios in Aston PA where I am open by appointment throughout the year. WEBSITE:

Teresa Haag I love a good underdog story, and my art represents that. Run down rowhomes, back alleys, broken buildings. But they aren’t hopeless...in fact, my work is hope. I document what life is like when you start from scratch...and then the journey that ensues. I paint in oil on top of newspaper-covered canvas. The newspaper adds noise to the work...and creates chaos that I get to make order out of build up my layers over top. I’m a mixed bag of education...some formal training, and a whole lot of scrappiness to get me to a place that I could get my hands to make what my head could see. WEBSITE:

Mary Holton My artistry reflects a quiet rebellion against literal reality while remaining grounded in an appreciation for the beauty contained in our everyday environment. I strive to capture light in its various phases, to present subjects and detail with a looseness and freedom that do not violate the integrity of those elements. For most of my work I choose the forcefulness of a knife rather than a brush stroke to apply my palette, to create a tactile, textural painting that the viewer is free to touch, enter and be part of. I paint to share a vision with the viewer of the uncommon in the common, eliminating the unnecessary elements that distract, a wabi-sabi approach to art. A sense of serene melancholy and a spiritual longing. WEBSITE:

Inspired by garage sale excursions with his mother and tinkering in the garage with his father, he started his initial artistic endeavor creating clocks, lamps and furniture 17 years ago. While working, he flipped over a teapot one day and imagined the spout as a nose and the lid as a mouth and thereafter began his obsession with creating robot sculptures out of discarded objects. Wendy McClatchy Vincent Van Gogh once said, "Painting is a faith not created by hands alone, but by something that wells up from a deeper source in our souls." For as long as I can remember, I have had an inexhaustible passion of the creative process whether it be for my own artwork, or as a practicing art psychotherapist. Over the years I have cultivated my own painting practice within the contents of a frame. I am drawn to landscape, seascape, and still life with the intention of capturing specific qualities of my subject matter that draw me to share my emotional responses with the viewer. Luscious consistency, vibrant colors that also lend themselves to transparency, as well as the ability to push the medium in unexpected ways are the reasons I love pastels. The traveling influenced my choice of colors and subject. My newest adaption of botanicals is to collect vines, flowers, etc. and artfully place on paper which I boil for three hours in a mordant to release the dye. Joe Milligan I find working in watercolor to be the most rewarding, yet challenging, of the art forms. Managing the unpredictability of the water and pigment helps me form dramatic skies, seas, and the physical texture of real objects. The brush, the paint, and the water are my tools used to create paintings infused with emotion and a sense of realism in time and place. Beaches and harbor scenes, old boats and barns are the places and things that, for various reasons, move me. Rural and coastal Maine to North Carolina are my inspirational environments. I’m drawn to the back-bays, salt marshes and less traveled roads. A summer child of the Jersey Shore I explored, sailed, fished, surfed and swam at Brigantine and LBI. My grandfather and uncles were lifelong carpenters and baymen. This is a heritage that has influenced me throughout my life and is reflected in my art. Albert Moretti I am a painting jazz musician, trumpeter, and composer. When I paint, I think of sound, and when I play music, I think of colors. Rhythm, harmony, articulation, dynamics, and phrasing become part of my creative decisions. I use my music composition process to inspire my painting subjects and style. This connection energizes me to create thru a more conceptional process. For example, the color yellow when reduced from light vibration to sound vibration sounds the tone B♭, a prominent color since I play a B♭ trumpet. All colors can be associated with their tonal equivalents. Using these tones, language, theory, form, and emotional passion of music allows me to go from what I know to what is new. Music and art continuously intersect in my mind. Though my musical and artistic accomplishments stretch back to the 1970’s, I am creating exciting new works in acrylic medium; painting musical icons and themes that have influenced my life and career. Vidya Shyamsundar I am an artist, muralist, and educator. Layered with vibrant colors, textures, and symbolisms, I paint mandalas that reflect imprints of the centuries-old South Indian meditative art called Kolam with distinct intricacy, precision, and symmetry and its effect on mindfulness and spirituality. Painting a mandala gives me a feeling of belonging and identity, a practice that makes me feel closer to my home. It creates an avenue to reminisce my childhood joy and pay my homage to the lost loved souls. It helps me find peace. I was born and raised in the Southern coastal State of India named Kerala. I have been living in the United States for over two decades. She earned her BFA in Communication Design from Kutztown University and has owned TCG Design in East Petersburg for more than 27 years. Over the past seven years, Kim has developed a consistent style in her painting. Yet her subject matter is diverse from florals and landscapes to birds and fruit with a holiday ornament or summer crab mixed in to celebrate a special moment in time. Genevieve Snyder Genevieve was born and raised in Chester County, PA, where she and her husband still reside. From childhood, she found joy in painting and drawing. Graduating with a degree in Communications and Design, Genevieve went to work in television set design. While working in that industry, she continued to explore painting for pleasure, but the hobby eventually consumed her. In 2005, she left TV to pursue a career as a fine artist. Since that time, her award-winning paintings have been on display at juried and invitational shows. Her work has been used for cards, posters, magazine covers and a calendar. When not working on commission pieces, Genevieve finds inspiration in the relationship between man, animal and nature. This curiosity has led to a large body of work focused on sporting art, primarily fox hunting. Her work, though, is not exclusively this genre and she willingly explores any subject that catches her eye. WEBSITE:

ARTIST BIOGRAPHIES Temre Stanchfield Temre studied classical figure painting at University of Puget Sound in Washington State, Studio Art Center International in Florence Italy, and University of Arizona, eventually, earning her MFA in 2001. She turned her artistic focus toward the organic world when working as an Artist in Residence at The Trolley Museum of New York in the Hudson Valley in 2009. While there, her paintings depicted the natural process of renewal, embodied in the ever-changing landscape. While there she also explored this idea through painting flowers and plant parts. Currently Stansfield’s artwork draws from the local landscape in southern Pennsylvania further exploring the theme of perennial growth. Stanchfield says of her work, “While these paintings visually reference the Brandywine Valley and Lancaster County landscape of Pennsylvania, they are more broadly about communing with nature and the calm that results from such experiences. This mental atmosphere is represented through a muted palette, organic forms, and a rich, layered surface.” WEBSITE:
