Dear Friends,

We are delighted to welcome you to the Academy of Notre Dame de Namur’s Fall 2023 musical production of “Beauty & the Beast.” A story about a young prince that is cast under a spell, which can only be broken with true love. Through many ups and downs, he finds love with Belle, and she, in time, returns his love. They marry and the prince’s spell is broken.

Beauty and the Beast shows us that we should value inward characteristics such as kindness over other superficial qualities, such as wit and appearance. The story is well-aligned with Hallmark 2: We value the dignity and sacredness of each person. Belle does just that in recognizing the inner beauty of the Beast despite outward appearances.

We are tremendously proud of our young artists who have poured their hearts and souls into this endeavor. Being part of a production such as this demands hours of study, discipline, and dedication, but also generates rich rewards: collaboration, connection, and tons of fun. At Notre Dame, where we commit to teaching young women “what they need to know for life,” students have the opportunity to gain skills and life lessons both in the classroom and on the stage.

We extend a special thanks to those members of our talented faculty who have guided our young people across these weeks of preparation. Our thanks go out to Mrs. Pam Devenney, Mrs. Lindsay Miller and Ms. Isabelle Molinari for their vision, professionalism, and guidance. We know this is a labor of love, and we are deeply appreciative of your dedication to our students and to “Beauty & the Beast.”
