VY VY LE LE (TARA) (TARA) CLASS OF 2022
ABOUT HER:
Vy le (Tara Le) she is a young alumni of Academy of Notre Dame, graduated in the class of 2022. Currently she is a student at Parson, The New School in New York City with fashion designer major.
PROGRESS OF THE COLLECTION: “I started with my Primary Research by heading to thrift stores around New York to see what caught my eye the most, of which I realized that my likings were mainly prints, playful colors, and texture fabrics— moving forward to my Secondary Research, which was online research of shirts, and fabric manipulations. The Secondary Research helped me realize how fabric manipulations can create a playful silhouette or illusion of the body, hence I continued with this research later in my collection. Through my experimentation with designing prints, I realized that I enjoyed both techniques digital and traditional. Therefore, I used both to design my final print palette. Firstly, I wrote the abbreviation of my name "VL" multiple times into lines and dots. Lastly, I multiply the lines, and dots using Adobe Photoshop as well as aligning them to be symmetrical. I repeated these steps with 2 other colors blue, and pink for choosing. As for the fabric, I chose Neoprene as my main material for the final look due to its thickness which assisted with holding the exaggerated silhouette.”
