SPIN THE WHEEL, TAKE HOME SOME ART!

(And

feel great about it!)

“It’s a bit of a gamble,” says artist Natalie Dotzauer, but it’s also a guaranteed win.

The ever-intriguing Art-oMat is making only its second appearance in the Wenatchee Valley this First Friday just outside of Pybus Public Market from 5 to 8 p.m.

Created in tandem by local artists Dotzauer and Ellen Bruex, the Art-o-Mat is essentially a vending machine for real, original art. “Our goal was to have a way to actually facilitate artists selling their work,” explains Dotzauer.

Players pay $50 per spin for a go at the Art-o-Mat wheel which contains the names of 20 local and regional artists. Every spin’s a winner, so every player walks away with an original piece of art from the artist indicated on the dial. You could walk away with anything from stained glass or hand-

made jewelry to elaborately designed gourmet cookies or brand-new paintings from Jan Cook Mack.

And the players aren’t the only winners. The Art-o-Mat is a fundraiser for the NCW Arts Alliance, with 10 percent of each sale going to NCW Arts and the remaining 90 percent going to the artists themselves.

Bruex and Dotzauer, both of whom are donating 100 percent of their time and artistic visions, are hoping to gin up 100 spins for the Arts this First Friday. The Art-o-Mat will be set up outside the southwest entrance of Pybus Public Market (near the giant neon sign on the side of the building that faces Mission Ridge).

SHARING SOUNDS IN THE SANGHA

Everheard the sound of a lake freezing? How about sap running through a tree? Nick McMahan has.

As a professional nature sound recordist, McMahan (ncwarts.org/nick-mcmahan) has captured sounds you never even knew existed and he’s coming to the Stone Blossom Sangha Meditation Center in Wenatchee this First Friday to share some gems from his audible treasure trove.

“We’re inviting people to come in, sit in

the space and enjoy the audio,” said Joss Paddock, organizer of the event.

A 30-minute track curated by McMahan will play on a loop between 6 and 8 p.m. with cookies and tea provided by Inner Grove Tea. Stone Blossom Sangha offers a full schedule of weekly meditation practices and is located at 400 Yakima Street in Wenatchee, with parking behind Plaza Super Jet. FEATURED OPPORTUNITY

The Confluence Gallery in Twisp has issued a call for art submissions from artists who “vocalize their passion for playing in the outdoors with their art.”

They are accepting original works created in the last three years of any size and in any medium.

The exhibit will run from June 7 through July 12, 2025, and the dead-

line for submissions is April 2. Online submission forms and more information can be found at confluencegallery.org.
