FIRST-YEAR STUDIO
DIGITAL PRINTS FOR TARGET MARKETS For this project, first-year fashion and textile design students were split into groups and given a customer demographic to research. Each student made a tossed and complex stripe textile pattern painted with gouache, edited it in Photoshop, then designed it in Kaledo Print. Afterwards, they texture mapped these patterns onto potential products.

ZERO WASTE DESIGN PROJECT For this project students combine hand painting and 3D garment design to develop a virtual collection of “hand painted” garments. Inspired by nature, they create multiple painted textures and motifs. FASHION DESIGN
COUTURE INDEPENDENT STUDY
For this project, sophomore fashion design students had the opportunity to design for their dream job. Most famous designers come from fashion houses as apprentices. Pretending they were one of these apprentices, students developed four garments in the style of their favorite designer. They drew inspiration from the pattern-making and sewing techniques that make that designer distinct.

STUDY ABROAD
Lilly Barozzini | Fashion Design In an accessories design course with Accademia Italiana, Lilly designed a bag collection utilizing trends from the 60s while ensuring the bags remained functional.
JEWELRY MAKING In a jewelry-making class in Florence, designers learned and applied techniques such as filing, sawing, soldering and stone setting to create some of the unique pieces featured.

ART2WEAR Art2Wear is a wearable art show hosted by the College of Design each year. Students from across NC State are welcome to apply each year to send their collections down the runway. This collection, ZERAFET, is one of two collections created by Wilson College students that were featured in 2023. Melis Hafizoglu’s collection explores the unique relationship between father and daughter and the fascinating convergence of mathematics and fashion.
