REAL-TIME RESPONSE FOR JUSTICE When Columbian-American artist, Paola Mendoza, created her I AM A CHILD series in protest of sending immigrant children to detainment centers, she was intentional about using the Sanitation Workers Strike of 1965 as an inspiration. After a digital connection to Mendoza and project photographer, Kisha Bari, rather than use the photos as a classroom tool, the NCRM team created a rapid response exhibit. Rapid responses address immediate issues and seek to spark thought regarding civil and human rights in real-time.

I couldn't ask for a better place for it to be because my work is about children and it's about 'how do we bring our children together?'
