NCPGA Tournament Committee Motion: Player of the Year – Fortinet Championship Exemption Background: Given the landscape and recent events of the PGA Tour, beginning in 2024, certain events are now referred to as “Designated Events”. The designation of the AT&T Pebble Beach ProAm is one of those reformatted evetns, directly affecting the NCPGA. Unfortunately, this designation resulted in the loss of the PGA Tour exemption granted to our NCPGA Player of the Year. It is felt that the Player of the Year deserves one of the two available exemptions. The accompanying motion, brought forth and endorsed by the NCPGA Tournament Committee, grants the Fortinet Championship exemption to the Player of the Year, eliminating the exemption for the NCPGA Stroke Play Champion. The NCPGA Stroke Play Champin will continue to qualify for the PGA of America National Professional Championship This exemption is effective upon the date of vote, and begins with the 2023 NCPGA Player of the Year. Current Reading: NCPGA Tournament Rules & Regulations as Amended January 1, 2022 TOUR EXEMPTIONS – SUBSTITUTIONS A. ALLOCATION Match Play Champion to receive the Barracuda Championship Exemption Nor Cal PPC / Section Champion to receive Safeway Open Exemption Player of the Year to receive the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Exemption B.

SUBSTITUTIONS In the case when awarded qualifiers are not able to accept any Tour exemption, the exemption(s) will be awarded to the next eligible member on the Player of the Year point list

Proposed Reading: NCPGA Tournament Rules & Regulations as Amended October 16, 2023 TOUR EXEMPTIONS – SUBSTITUTIONS A. ALLOCATION Match Play Champion to receive the Barracuda Championship Exemption Player of the Year to receive the Fortinet Championship Exemption B.

SUBSTITUTIONS In the case when awarded qualifiers are not able to accept any Tour exemption, the exemption(s) will be awarded to the next eligible member on the Player of the Year point list.

Monterey Bay Area Chapter Report

The Monterey Bay Area Chapter has had a busy year and we would like to share a few highlights in our report: On June 19th, we hosted the first annual Pro – Junior Golf Celebration at Del Monte Golf Course. Nine MBAC members were paired up with junior golfers from the local community to fill out the field of 36 players. The kids were recruited through the Pebble Beach Junior Golf Association and the First Tee of Monterey County. The event was a wonderful success that helped to foster the relationship between golf professionals and junior golfers. MBAC members have been taking part in a Summer Skins Series, thanks in large part to the efforts of Norman Blanco who did the heavy lifting. There was a total of six 9-hole skins games that proved to be very popular, as they started at 5pm. This made them very accessible for our members’ busy schedules. The Summer Match Play Bracket was won by Cody Robinson from Monterey Peninsula Country Club – this is a very popular event for the MBAC and is always well attended. Congratulations to Cody on his victory. As we enter the fall, we are looking forward to our Chapter Stroke Play Championship which is being swapped from a 36 hole event to an 18 hole event in order to stoke participation. The event will be on October 16th at Corral de Tierra Country Club. The final event of the year is the Tournament of Champions, which will be hosted at Pasadera Golf Club. This event will coincide with our Annual Awards Celebration. I hope you’re all doing well and will have a chance to decompress after a busy summer season!

All the best, Sam Frick, PGA MBAC Chapter President

Sierra Nevada Chapter Fall Report 2023

The Sierra Nevada Chapter had a successful 2023. Golf continues to boom in our area with most courses seeing higher than usual revenue and equal to, if not increased round counts over 22’ and 21’. Lessons and shop sales both continue to excel as well. Our need for more golf centric employees hasn’t diminished as many “regulars” have moved out of the industry. Our chapter is in a very strong position financially and continues to look for ways to provide tournament, education, and membership opportunities to our chapter members & associates. We will offer multiple opportunities in 23’/24’ to serve our members. Our chapter tournament schedule got off to a late start this year due to several of our events having to be moved back with many of our host courses opening late this season. With that said, we’ve had a successful tournament season thus far, with a few more events yet to come. We had full season long Team and Individual Match Play Brackets, both of which are into the final matches at this point. We’ve had successful Pro Ams and Pro Pros at Hidden Valley, Washoe, Schaeffer’s Mill, Montreux, and Coyote Moon. We recently finished our 2 day Stroke Play Championship at Lahonton/Schaffer’s Mill. We’ve got a few great events yet to come, including our annual Brooks Park Cup in October at Edgewood. We have a SNC Assistant/Associate Townhall mentoring event scheduled at Montreux on October 23rd, with PGA Career Consultant Caitlyn Doyle leading the event. We look forward to a great day of mentoring up and coming PGA professionals followed by some golf at Montreux.

Respectfully Submitted,

John Hermans, PGA SNCPGA President

PGA Coach Profiles, Leads and Training The below are lifetime numbers from PGA Coach. Numbers that standout include the leads for the two California Sections. We believe this is in large part due to the

aggressive and successful consumer marketing program used by the Southern California Section. We anticipate the Pacific Northwest PGA Members to reap a similar windfall as the Section’s consumer marketing program evolves.

DUES BILLING TERMINATION FOR NON-PAYMENT UPDATE ●

The process to drop for non-payment of dues was completed just a bit earlier this afternoon. We dropped 836 Members and Associates combined, which is the first time fewer than 1,000 have been terminated since 2014, and only the second time this Century we have dropped fewer than 900 (829 in 2012). No doubt we would like this number to be zero, but clearly both National and Section teams worked diligently through this process to help Members and Associates as best we could.

●

Those who were terminated have the re-establish option available through June 30, 2024, by paying dues and the $25 re-establish fee.

PGA TOUR/DP WORLD TOUR/LIV ●

Like everyone else, we were surprised by the announcement of a near-term pathway to resolve the dispute between the PGA TOUR, DP World Tour and LIV Golf. We convened an unscheduled informational Board session to discuss how this affects us, but few details of the deal framework are currently available and there remain many unknowns still to be determined. We are working diligently to get answers to you as soon as they become available.

●

Our focus, as always, will be on advocating strongly for what’s right for our Members, Sections, protecting our most valuable assets, growing the game, and making sure we communicate the difference between the PGA Tour and PGA of America.

●

For Sections that receive emails or phone calls from consumers irate about the merger, we recommend following the lead of the PGA Membership Department and note in a response that the PGA of America and PGA Tour became two separate organizations in 1968 with the PGA of America representing nearly 28,000 PGA Professionals at 10,000+ facilities across the country. The individual should then be referred to the PGA Tour. - 904-285-3700

DEFERRED COMPENSATION. As we all know, there are tax rules that prevent the Association from directly giving money to members. But the basic principle is that we can reasonably compensate a member for performing services that advance our exempt purpose; specifically for growing the game of golf. Therefore we created a plan whereby members that participate in programs that meet specified performance objectives can earn a contribution towards a deferred compensation fund. PGA Members can potentially earn up to $1,500 a year to a deferred compensation fund by participating in combination of 16 activities The aim is that over the years these investments will grow and provide a supplemental income for the member upon reaching the age of 65 In addition to all our programs and other benefits this is now a very real and accessible vehicle to accumulate wealth towards a more comfortable retirement. We further hope that this can serve as a truly significant lure and recruiting tool to attract new talent to our great and growing industry. Sub committees that include your fellow PGA Professionals, board members and ED’s worked on program details and administration. This won’t be without challenges but for the first time ever we got a response of yes we can do this from the IRS. We will roll out, review and refine the program over the first few years.
