
NCPGA ANNUAL MEETING MINUTES
December 4, 2023

I. Welcome & Opening Remarks
8:30AM
a) Executive Director Len Dumas quieted the room to watch the new PGA of America We Love this Game ad and PGA Year in Review video.
b) Dumas invited President Lippert to the podium to officially call the meeting to order.
c) President Lippert congratulated all special award winners; special award recap video shown.
d) President Lippert welcomed the membership and reviewed the day’s agenda.
e) President Lippert thanked the event Partners: Good Boy Golf, Noteefy, and Bright View
f) Individually recognized were Special Guests Don Rea Jr., PGA - PGA of America VP, Beau Welling - Golf Course Architect, Jack Marino - E-Z-GO, Tyler Flake – ILT Vacactions, Joe Huston, Executive Director of NCGA, Mike Ray, PGA, PGA of America Regional Director of MSO, Jim Ferrin, California Alliance for Golf President, Steven Spatafore, NCGCSAA President, Tyler Cope, PGA, Account Manager West Region of Golf Genius Software, Richard Davison, NCGRA President, Emmy Moore-Minister, NCPGA Honorary Member, Gary Gerould, and Brittany Black
g) Past Presidents and the NCPGA Board of Directors were recognized.
h) Life, Quarter Century and Half Century Members were recognized.
i) President Lippert thanked our Committee Members – Bylaws, Diversity & Inclusion, Education, Member & Associate Mentoring, Special Awards, Teaching & Coaching, Tournament
j) President Lippert recognized 2023 NCPGA Hall of Fame Inductees: Olin Dutra, Johnny Miller, PGA, Jerry Thormann, PGA, and Paul Wilcox Jr., PGA.
k) President Lippert asked all to stand for the singing of the National Anthem performed by Patrick Minnifield
l) Pastor George Willis led the invocation.
m) Moment of silence to honor the PGA Professionals that passed 2023
II. Action Items
a) Minute Approval 2023 Summer Meeting Minutes. Motion to approve by Lippert/ second by Bailey / motion carried.
b) BYLAW REVISION: “Number of Directors,” new language was proposed for Articles 6.3, Chapter Presidents/Directors, and Election Procedures article 6.7 and Board Attendance/Vacancies 6.8.
i. Suggested language for article 6.3 condenses the Board of Direcotrs from 21 to 15 by removing the six Chapter Presidents from the Board of Directors.
ii. Suggested revision for article 6.8 revises the period of Director attendance tracking in terms of voluntary resignation when two meetings are missed. The revision replaces the rolling twelve-month period with a calendar period.
iii. Removed from article 6.7 suggests that any Chapter President or the substitute elected by his/her Chapter who fails to comply with the attendance requirements for meetings of the BOARD OF DIRECTORS, will be removed for cause in accordance with Section 6.8, and shall not be re-elected as a Chapter President during the same fiscal year.
iv. Quorum was established and motion carried.

IV. President’s Report – President Eric Lippert, PGA
a) Lippert expressed appreciation to the NCPGA staff and members for their support.
b) Excited for new hire Michael Merritt, PGA as the Assistant Executive Director earlier this year
c) The PGA of America just hired a new CFO John Connelly
d) There will be a logo change up coming for the Northern California PGA with the new logo earlier this year for the PGA of America
e) Next year there will be an election for a new National PGA of America Secretary
V. Vice President’s Report – Vice President Nick Bailey, PGA

VII. Recognition of new Grads, Josh Altenhofen, PGA, Corey Hobbs, PGA, Matthew Marmon, PGA, AJ Shiffert, Joseph Stafford, PGA, and Sean Woods, PGA by Secretary Duncan.
VIII. Board of Directors Election Results –Dede Moriarty, PGA
a) Recognition given to outgoing Board of Directors: Pat Jones, PGA, Andrew Larkin, PGA, and Jim Stewart, PGA
b) Honorary President Dede Moriarty, PGA provided a summary of the voting results: i. Over 600 Members eligible to vote received ballots, 156 votes were cast (3 positions).
c) Moriarty called up the Directors-Elect: Matt Jordan, PGA MP, Mark Naylor, PGA, Josh Ostler, PGA– all to serve a three-year term. All were in attendance.
IX. Foundation report by Tim Burr
• Recognized the 2023 PGA HOPE Program Instructors.
• Recognition of PGA HOPE Ambassadors – Will Stockholm and John Reissenweber.
X. Special Award Winners Recognition – Frank LaRosa, Honorary Member / Master of Ceremony
a) Recognition of Special Awards Committee
b) Review of compilation video of all Award Winners. All winners in attendance were given the opportunity to address the audience.
c) Special recognition to the Golf Professional of the Year – Ashley Marsay, PGA, who expressed his appreciation for the high honor and recognition among his peers.
d) President Lippert called for any unfinished business. None.
e) President Lippert called for any new business None.
f) President Lippert made announcements for the afternoon education session.
g) President Lippert thanked all the meeting sponsors and NCPGA Staff
