2022 NCPGA Bay Area Chapter 4 Pro Scramble - January 24, 2022

A sun- drenched day greeted players this past Monday, as they arrived at TPC Stonebrae atop the Hayward Hills. Its spectacular sprawling views of the Bay, setting the stage for an enjoyable day, on the otherwise challenging David McKlay Kidd layout.

A tremendous turnout of 48 players were present for the re-engaging of the Bay Area Chapter, after several years of inactivity. The essence of this kickoff event being one of networking, meeting and greeting, with four-person teams, made up of individuals from four different facilities, competing in a four-person Scramble format, a gentle way to break the ice!

Newly elected Chapter President, Mark Naylor (Round Hill Country Club), Chapter Vice President, John Vest, (Castlewood Country Club), Chapter Secretary, Brian Brake (Blackhawk Country Club), along with directors Kevin Chen (Castlewood Country Club) Tom Rezendes (Norcal Golf Academy) and Adrian Cordoza (TPC Stonebrae), were the brains behind this kickoff event and were delighted by the turnout.

While the Stonebrae layout is a challenging proposition, it was no opposition for the talented Bay Area Chapter PGA Golf Professionals, especially when given the opportunity to join forces in a Scramble. The talented teams collectively accrued some 150 Birdies and 23 Eagles amongst them, with the hole scoring averages combining for an impressive total average of 55.84 for the field, with the median score being an remarkable 17 under par for the 12 teams that competed!!!

Three teams bettered that median, to return that elusive and extraordinary score of 54, -18 under par, with all three teams remarkably including three pars on their score cards, negated by an equal number of fabulous eagles in each case.
