In 2001, NCMCA began a masonry design competition as part of Professor Patrick Rand’s “Architectural Construction Systems” class at North Carolina State University’s College of Design. Teams participate in the competition to design and model a hypothetical masonry in-fill building section as a graded class assignment. Winning projects earn participating students tuition awards from NCMCA’s Sigmon Memorial Scholarship fund, named in memory of Randy, David, and Dwayne Sigmon. Major funding for the Sigmon Memorial Scholarship comes from the proceeds of the Annual NCMCA Golf Tournament. The 2022 Tournament is Thursday September 22 at the Mill Creek Golf and Country Club in Mebane, NC. The tournament is always the fourth Thursday in September, weather permitting.
