L atinos and H ealth Coverage: Delaware by the Numbers L atinos1 are more likely to be uninsured than any other racial or ethnic group in the U.S. +RZHYHU +LVSDQLF IDPLOLHVœ DFFHVV WR KHDOWK LQVXUDQFH YDULHV E\ VWDWH (see F igure 1). In Delaware: ™ L atinos have inadequate access to the cur rent health coverage system. In 2008, fewer than one-half (46.6%) of all Latinos living in Delaware had employersponsored health insurance, and about one-quarter (25.3%) were covered by Medicaid RU WKH &KLOGUHQœV +HDOWK ,nsurance Program.2 ™ As a result, L atino families are at risk for uninsurance. That year, more than one in four (27.4%) Latinos in Delaware were uninsured, and nearly one in four (23.6%) Latino children under age 18 had no form of health coverage.3 ™ L atinos are over represented among the uninsured. Although Hispanics made up 6.3% of the total state population in 2008, they represented 16% of DelawareœV uninsured.4
