Dear Ms. Ryans: I would like to extend my sincerest thanks to you for inviting me to speak at your press conference on September 3 entitled “Health Care Reform Today for Tomorrow.” I sincerely regret that I will be unable to attend your event, but it is an honor to be invited to speak on an issue that is so vitally important for so many individuals today. As a senior member of the Senate Health Education Labor and Pensions committee, healthcare reform is an area that has been extremely important to me throughout my career in the Senate. The purpose and goals of your event, determining health care needs for the future, is extremely important and admirable. The National Council of La Raza has always given Connecticut constituents a voice and equal opportunity to grow, prosper, and achieve the American dream. This event will continue the National Council of La Raza’s great history of service. Once again, thank you for inviting me to speak at your press conference regarding the future of health care in America. Though I cannot attend this event, I look forward to continuing our important work on these issues critical to Connecticut and our nation as a whole.

Sincerely,

CHRISTOPHER J. DODD United States Senator

Ms. Kara Ryan National Council of La Raza
