WELCOME LETTER

From the NCL, Inc. Board President

Hello National Charity League!

Happy SPRING! I LOVE this season of blooming and growing, and 2025 spring is even sweeter because NCL is celebrating 100 years of building stronger communities!

I am coming to the end of my two-year term as your National President, and it’s important to me to share with you a few of my favorite things about NCL (I know, I know, it sounds so much like Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music):

NCL builds strong communities around those who need it most. NCL, for the past 100 years, has modeled the power of women building strong communities. A shining example of this was in January of 2025 when historic wildfires swept through both Palisades and Altadena, CA Chapters from around the country raced toward fire-affected families with gifts of food, supplies and even Senior Recognition dresses so there could be an ounce of “normal” in their upside-down lives. My heart is warmed that this was not a one-time effort; fire-affected NCL families are being invited to events at nearby chapters so they can still enjoy the power of the NCL community

NCL is a place to stretch & grow Each year, slates are created and committees are formed It is very often the case that those tapped on the shoulder had not imagined themselves in that role And yet, over and over, they say yes to this opportunity to learn something new, to step outside their comfort zone, and to grow in the safe space we know as NCL It’s a beautiful thing for our daughters to see us not only as "mom," but also as role models of leadership and grace The pride we mothers feel watching our 7th–12th graders support their communities and Ticktocker classes is immeasurable. It doesn’t end there—NCL continues to offer leadership opportunities and ways to stay connected after our active six years I can hardly believe I’m in my 18th year!

NCL values its youngest members as the fuel that will keep the organization moving forward into the next century. They learn their jobs and the language of NCL, but they don’t stop there Ticktocker Councils from around the country are learning how to identify needs in their communities, to write grants to solve for those needs and then to execute to their plans In our “Extraordinary Women” book, we highlight this year’s “18 under 18” and look forward to this program continuing to spotlight the voice of our future It’s empowering and so inspirational to see this leadership in action.

NCL has forever changed my life and I know it has for many of you, too. For those of you who want to invest a little bit more time, for those who want to get a little more involved, I guarantee you will meet lifelong friends and make invaluable connections.

Thank you for trusting me to be your National President It has been an honor.

Gratefully Yours,

CENTENNIAL CELEBRATION

April 2-4, 2025

This year, NCL celebrated its 100th anniversary with a once-ina-lifetime event in Anaheim, CA. Together, we reflected on a century of service and the profound influence of the mothers and daughters whose unwavering commitment has fostered positive change in their communities from coast to coast NCL’s contributions serve as testament to the enduring impact of women who lead with compassion, vision and a commitment to making the world a better place for all Check out our fun recap video below!

Amazing Programming

Inspiring Workshop Speakers

We were honored to hear from a dynamic lineup of speakers, including Myka Meier, Rosalind Wiseman, Shabnam Mogharabi, Maria Johnson, and Dr Lauren Cook. Each shared powerful tools and messages to help our members grow as confident, impactful leaders in their communities. Their expertise left a lasting impression on all who attended

llege & Career Fair

For the first time ever, Ticktockers were able to attend our College and Career Fair in person! They explored career paths, connected with college representatives, learned about sorority life, and gained valuable insights on building courage from Dr. Lauren Cook. It was an inspiring and empowering experience!

Sustainer Sips and Stems

Our Sustainers enjoyed a special afternoon designed just for them! From tea training to a hands-on mixology class and beautiful bouquet making, it was a day filled with connection and fun. The joy didn’t stop there—we donated the handcrafted bouquets to a local senior living facility, proving once again that NCL always finds a way to give back!

LEADERSHIP

Extraordinary Women of NCL

We asked you to tell us: What makes her an extraordinary leader? What is her greatest gift to NCL? What is her superpower?

Last summer, as part of our Centennial Celebration, we set out to find the women who define the spirit of NCL—those who have shaped our past, enrich our present, and inspire our future.

Your answers were as inspiring as the women themselves. Words like visionary, resilient, kind, and passionate rose to the top. Their superpowers? Positivity, inspiring others, and being great communicators.

More than 150 remarkable women were celebrated in our Extraordinary Women of NCL book—each one leaving a legacy of compassion, purpose, and service. Limited quantities available order your copy today!

Let’s take a look at some of our extraordinary women!

LA Area Wildfires

This year’s book drive came at a particularly hard time of year for some of our California chapters. As you know, the Los Angeles area, including Pasadena and Altadena were badly impacted by wildfires and mudslides in January.

Several of our wonderful chapters, including Tucson and San Fernando Valley, donated their books to the Pasadena Area Chapter and surrounding area chapters that were affected! This is so kind and thoughtful especially since for some children, books are critical necessities… and best friends too.

Another chapter decided to help the area in a different way. The Orchard Valley Class of 2030 hosted a one day bake sale, raising over $1,000 selling homemade cookies and lemonade The girls planned and executed the entire sale all on their own. According to VP Philanthropy, Lynette Tang, “the girls are truly an inspiration!”

Fall Survey Highlights: Your Voice, Our Growth!

In November 2024, we launched our Fall member survey and received incredible insights thank you! Your honest feedback is essential in helping us enhance the member experience and make decisions that benefit our entire organization We’re grateful for your ongoing participation in these bi-annual surveys and look forward to sharing highlights and updates as we continue to improve based on your input.

The Numbers: Who We Heard From

A total of 5,692 members responded 100% of chapters with at least one member responding 91% of chapters had input from Ticktockers

As we continue to grow our culture of feedback, we’re thrilled by the response so far—and we can’t wait to hear from even more of you in the future! Your voice matters!

Key Takeaways: What We Learned About Training, Leadership, and Belonging

Leadership Boosts Engagement

We’re seeing a clear trend: members who have held leadership roles recently tend to rate their experiences higher than those who haven’t. In other words, the more involved you are, the more impactful and rewarding the experience seems to be!

Ticktockers Are Ready to Lead

The future is bright with Ticktockers eager to take on leadership roles! A strong interest in stepping up next year has been expressed—so watch out, leaders of tomorrow are gearing up!

A Stronger Culture of Belonging

We’re thrilled to see that, on average, Patronesses and Ticktockers rated our Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) efforts more positively this year than last. It looks like we’re on the right track, with members feeling even more connected and valued than before. It’s a win for everyone!

p a g e 1 8

Spring Into Leadership

As we enter a new season of growth, one thing is clear leadership matters! Our latest survey shows members in leadership roles enjoy a richer NCL experience. And the best part? Our Ticktockers are eager to lead next year, showing inspiring enthusiasm and readiness to make their mark.

2025 Ticktocker Grant Recipients

Congratulations to the following chapters who were awarded grants for their incredible Ticktocker projects! Their creativity, dedication, and commitment to service continue to inspire us all.

This project shines a light on limited access to sports opportunities in underserved communities, focusing on K5 students in the Greater LA area. To support this effort, the chapter will host a tournament to raise funds to purchase sports equipment for 48 underserved schools

They seek to create engagement with the deaf community by promoting deaf awareness culture using games, art workshops, and facilitation of ASL opportunities. Inspired by the fact that Riverside is one of only three cities in CA with a hearing-impaired/deaf specialty school, this project was entirely envisioned by the Ticktockers and brought to life with strong support from their chapter.

The chapter will partner with Sound Foundations Northwest to help provide safe, long-term housing for unhoused residents in Seattle Together, members will construct and paint a durable tiny home using a jig system, designed to last a minimum of 20 years This project addresses the urgent homelessness crisis in the Seattle area, while also fostering empathy and building valuable life skills.
