Arcata offers a wealth of lodging options for visitors touring the redwoods, proud families of Humboldt State University grads, and others. In downtown Arcata, staying on the plaza in a historic hotel is a convenient and memorable option. Romance and nostalgia can be found by staying at a Victorian bed & breakfast or at several quality vacation rentals that offer unique accommodations in downtown apartments, farmhouses, and garden bungalows. Others may prefer to head to the north end of town, where several traditional hotels and motels are clustered together in Valley West or just outside of town, near the airport, offering everything from simple lodging to upscale elegance.

Looking to sleep under the stars? From rustic tent camping sites to luxe RV parks, there’s an option for everyone. You can camp among the redwoods or on the pacific coast cliffs. For waterfront camping, check out our county parks north of Arcata. At Patrick’s Point State Park, camp near hiking trails and tidepools. For those hiking or biking in, there are no-vehicle sites. Near Arcata, Trinidad, and Eureka, RV resorts make a comfortable home base. If you have a few days, head farther up the Redwood Coast. Sleep under the world’s tallest trees at Redwood National and State Parks. Choose from various campgrounds—or try backcountry camping in the national park (permit required). If you’re visiting in the summer, be sure to make a reservation and check availability during other seasons.
