EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT ∙ PRE-SCHOOL ENGLISH NEW ALL-IN-ONE ACTIVITY BOOKS FOR PRE-SCHOOLERS AND MANUAL The New All-In-One Activity Book for Pre-schoolers 1 and 2 have been compiled according to the National Curriculum Framework for Children Birth to Four Years to assist in educating tots (18 months to three years), toddlers (three to four years) and children up to five years old. The books comprise full-colour 2D and 3D activities covering all six Early Learning and Development Areas and focus on the development of creativity and fine motor skills.
The New All-In-One Manual for Pre-school Activities accompanies Activity Book 1 and includes weekly lesson plans divided into 40 themes. The second activity book has a removable manual. Practical hints are given for each lesson, e.g. for movement activities, songs and rhymes, imparting general background knowledge, cooking, puppet shows and craft activities. Hints are also graded according to the three age groups.
These activity books and manual comprise all the material you need to teach children from 18 months to five years old. The books are also used in Grade RR (Group 3).

The learner makes up own story in the last reader of the level based on the illustrations. Start with simple illustration-word association with only one familiar highfrequency sight word per page. The illustrations tell a sub-story (message). The teacher or parent/guardian reads the sentence on the left page and the learner completes the sentence by reading the sentence on the right hand page.
Learners read short, repetitive phrases that are explained by the illustrations. The phrases are varied in the last readers of the level.
Picture stories with a definite storyline. The teacher or parent/guardian reads the introductory sentence(s), after which the learner “reads” the pattern sentence on the opposite page. Sentences on the left page are read by the teacher or guardian/parent and the learner completes the sentence by looking at the word/phrase on the opposite page. Small variations in the phrases and sentences that learners have to “read”. Sentences on the first page are read by the teacher or parent/guardian and the learner “reads” the rest of the story by looking at the illustrations. Important phonics and words are taught. The teacher or parent/guardian reads the introductory sentences and the learner “reads” the short sentence on the next page. The illustrations are used to interpret the story and learners draw conclusions. The learner can start to read the reader the second time round. KEY: Read by learner

SLEUTEL:
In die laaste leesboek skep die leser ’n eie storie n.a.v. die prente. Begin met eenvoudige prentwoord-assosiasie met slegs een bekende hoëfrekwensiesigwoord per bladsy. Die illustrasies vertel ’n subteks. Die opvoeder lees die sin op die linkerbladsy en die leerder voltooi die sin deur die bekende sigwoord op die regterbladsy te lees.
Leerders lees kort, herhalende frases wat deur die illustrasie verduidelik word. In die laaste leesboeke is daar variasie in die frases wat gelees word. Prentestories met duidelike storielyn. Die opvoeder lees die inleidende sin(ne), waarna die leerders die patroonsinne op die teenoorstaande bladsy lees. Die opvoeder lees ’n sin op die linkerbladsy en die leerder voltooi die sin deur woorde op die regterbladsy n.a.v. die prent te lees. Daar is klein variasies in die sinne wat die leerders lees. Die eerste bladsy word deur die opvoeder gelees, waarna die leerder self die storie n.a.v. die prente verder insidenteel lees. Daar word ook met aanvangsklanke van woorde gewerk. Die opvoeder lees die inleidende sinne en die leerders die kort sin op die volgende bladsy. Prente word gebruik om die teks te interpreteer.
