The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board exists to advise and make recommendations to the City Council concerning policy matters related to the establishment, maintenance and operation of the City’s parks and recreation programs. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets the third Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm at City Hall, located at 550 Landa Street.

In-person registrations are available at the Parks and Recreation Administrative Office, Landa Recreation Center, Das Rec and Fischer Park NEC. Checks should be made payable to "City of New Braunfels." A charge will be assessed on returned checks.
NB PARD continually strives to provide quality programs and offers a Satisfaction Guarantee. If the participant is not satisfied with a class or program, the participant may either repeat the program at no cost, or receive a 100% refund or account credit, at the discretion of the participant.
Das Rec classes and programs listed as free are free for members. Non-members must purchase a day pass to participate in a free class.
PROGRAM & EVENT POLICIES CANCELLATIONS
Help us have successful programs by registering early! All programs must have a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted. If a program does not meet this minimum, the class may be cancelled. Cancellations by customers made five business days prior to the start of a program will receive a refund. No cancellation refunds will be given after the start of a program or event. Registration fees will not be prorated for partial attendance.
The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department routinely takes photos and videos of participants in recreation activities, programs and special events and/or at recreation facilities. These photos and/or videos may be used for promotional purposes. Be aware that by participating, you are granting the City of New Braunfels the right to use and publish your image or your minor child’s image.
If registering for a class that is full, your name can be placed on a waiting list. This does not guarantee a spot, but individuals will be contacted if an opening becomes available.

BABYSITTING CERTIFICATION CLASS
Start your own babysitting service the right way with a certification from our trained American Red Cross Instructor. This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely give care for children and infants. Participants will develop leadership skills, and learn basic child care, first aid, and CPR. Join Spass Walking Tours of New Braunfels to explore the history and beauty of Landa Park and experience a two mile walk during this interpretative tour. Discover man-made and natural treasures and hear stories about the people that made Landa Park a significant part of our community. This tour meets in the parking lot of the Rec Center at 164 Landa Park Drive. Most of the tour will be on the sidewalk and is stroller friendly. Bloodworth falls is an isolated town plagued with scandals. The townsfolk bicker in the streets, and many believe the local government is corrupt. Nevertheless, the mayor is hosting a masquerade ball in the old Bloodwood Castle. The tickets to the event have sold out in record time. The townspeople are curious to ﬁnd out why the mayor would put in effort into doing something positive in this gloom. Anticipation for the event hangs thickly in the air, and many are already hunting for the perfect mask. You are worried what will happen on this night when toxic people come together. You are alarmed, as you didn’t purchase your ticket - it was placed in your mailbox in an unmarked envelope. Somebody wants you there, but you don’t know why. This is where your story begins.
Established in 1868, the Comal Cemetery is the burial ground for some of New Braunfels’ founders and notable citizens. Hear the stories of these illustrious souls told by actors as living history portrayals.

Come kick off the holiday season with us! The program will begin at 6 p.m. with a performance by the New Braunfels Community Band. Mayor Rusty Brockman will address the crowd around 6:30 p.m. and then lead the countdown to flip the switch that will turn on the thousands of twinkling lights. Once the lights are on, Santa Claus is scheduled to arrive on an antique fire truck provided by the New Braunfels Fire Department. Santa will make his way to the Main Plaza bandstand, where families will have an opportunity to take pictures with him.

This recreational volleyball league emphasizes skill development and fun while promoting teamwork and fair play. Teams are coed in this instructional league that focuses on the fundamentals of volleyball and sportsmanship. Younger children learn basics like bumping, setting and spiking. Each player receives a uniform; children must have sneakers with non-marking soles to participate. One practice per week that shall be held between MondayFriday from 6pm-9pm. Season will consist of 10 games and will be played every Saturday. League play is governed by TAAF and local league rules. Awards given at the end of the season. Originally hailing from the northwest suburbs of Chicago, IL, Lisa has spent her entire life being active in some form or fashion. She started gymnastics at a young age and played travel soccer, dabbling in dance, softball and basketball. Movement and fitness keep her positive and motivated and she enjoys helping others achieve their goals and live an active and healthy lifestyle. When she’s not working, you can find her practicing aerial silks and trapeze, reading, crafting or relaxing. She holds a BA in public relations and advertising from DePaul University and is a NASM certified personal trainer.
Kari finds true enjoyment from seeing people reach their goals and feel great about themselves. That’s why she is an ISSA certified personal trainer and has a passion for teaching group fitness. SWIM LESSONS LEVELS Level
PARENT AND CHILD Ages: 6 - 24 month
Familiarize children with the water and teach swimming readiness skills. Provide safety information for parents and teach techniques parents can use to orient their children to the water. Parents must be in the water with the student.
PRESCHOOL Ages: 3-5
Familiarize children to the aquatic environment and help them acquire basic aquatic skills. Help participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices in and around water.
LEVEL 1 Introduction to Aquatic Skills Ages: 6-12
Orient participants to the aquatic environment and help them gain basic aquatic skills. Help participants begin to develop positive attitudes and safe practices around water. Skills to be learned: bobs, blowing bubbles, glides and recovery, basics of freestyle.
LEVEL 2 Fundamental Aquatic Skills Ages: 6-12
Build on the basic aquatic skills and water safety skills and concepts learned in Level 1. Skills to be learned: combined arm and leg action on front, various floating techniques, increased distance swim.
LEVEL 3 Stroke Development Ages: 6-12
Build on the skills learned in Levels 1 and 2 to help participants achieve basic water competency in a pool environment. Skills to be learned: survival float, treading water, elementary backstroke, breaststroke kick, streamline position.
LEVEL 4 & 5 Stroke Improvement and Refinement Ages: 6-12
Help participants refine their performance of all six swimming strokes (i.e., front crawl, back crawl, butterfly, breaststroke, elementary backstroke, and sidestroke). Skills to be learned: open turns, butterfly, breaststroke, increased time treading water, increased distance swim.

Receive one-on-one attention to enhance swim skills. Private swim lessons are ideal for anyone who wants a more customized experience for children and teens.

MASTERS SWIM TEAM
Want to get back into the swim of things? Masters Swim is for the adult swimmer looking to have a coached workout and improve swim techniques. This program is led by Masters certified coaches. For your convenience, the Das Rec Masters Swim team is setup with monthly installment billing using a debit/credit card authorization. The monthly payment will be drafted on the 1st of each month.
