CANCELLATIONS

Help us have successful programs by registering early! All programs must have a minimum number of participants in order to be conducted. If a program does not meet this minimum, the class may be canceled. Cancellations by customers made five business days prior to the start of a program will receive a refund. No cancellation refunds will be given after the start of a program or event. Registration fees will not be prorated for partial attendance.

PHOTO RELEASE

The New Braunfels Parks and Recreation Department routinely takes photos and videos of participants in recreation activities, programs and special events and/ or at recreation facilities. These photos and/or videos may be used for promotional purposes. Be aware that by participating, you are granting the City of New Braunfels the right to use and publish your image or your minor child’s image.

WAIT LISTS

If registering for a class that is full, your name can be placed on a waiting list. This does not guarantee a spot, but individuals will be contacted if an opening becomes available.

Das Rec classes and programs listed as free are free for members. Non-members must purchase a day pass to participate in a free class.

PARKS & RECREATION ADVISORY BOARD

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board makes recommendations to the City Council concerning policy matters related to the establishment, maintenance and operation of the City’s parks and recreation programs. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board meets the second Tuesday of each month at 6:00pm at City Hall - Council Chambers, located at 550 Landa Street.

PARKS FOUNDATION

Established in 2005, the New Braunfels Parks Foundation exists to promote, protect and enhance the parks system of the City of New Braunfels through education, resource development and community partnerships. Some of the exciting projects the NBPF has funded include construction of JAWS Skate Park and Puppy Playland, and the Landa Park Mini Golf renovation. DAS PUMPKIN PATCH

Join us in the pool to pick out the perfect pumpkin to decorate for fall! Once you have swum around and picked your pumpkin, supplies will be provided to decorate your pumpkin. Children 7 years and younger must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times.

Experience the history, tradition and beauty of the Comal Cemetery. Established in 1869, the Comal Cemetery is the burial ground for some of New Braunfels' founders and notable citizens. DOGGIE DIP DAY

Bring your water-loving pooch to play and cool off in the Springfed pool. Pre-purchased tickets are available, or you may purchase at the door. Human guest must have a ticket, max of 2 doggos admitted per ticket. Don’t forget your doggo’s proof of current rabies vaccine for the day of the event. Owners are required to clean up after and always maintain visual sight of their pups.

JINGLE BELL RIDE

Ho! Ho! Ho! Join our Das Rec Instructors at our Jingle Bell Ride on December 16. This 90-minute heart-pumping cycle class is sure to get you in the holiday spirit! Holiday costumes and accessories are encouraged- prize for the jolliest, festive participant will be presented at the end of class. All proceeds go to our Das Rec Scholarship Fund. JR & SR KARATE

Hill Country Karate’s certified instructors began teaching American Karate in 1983 to people of all ages, utilizing positive instructional methods. All instructors are required to complete extensive certification programs emphasizing safety and positive professional teaching. Karate improves self-discipline, coordination, self-respect, and selfconfidence. Juniors will be divided by color of belt to allow for more instruction. All white martial arts uniform with elastic waistband required and may be purchased at class for $40.

PICKLEBALL PLAYER DEVELOPMENT SERIESFOR THE ADVANCED BEGINNER

Join our skilled certified instructors in these group clinics! These clinics are designed for the player who knows the rules of Pickleball, can keep score, and know where they should be on the court. Instruction and drills on a new skill every week for 3 consecutive weeks. Choose to take one or take all 3 sessions.

First week - Volleys and dink drills to improve your net game, hand to eye coordination, and ball placement accuracy

Second week - Baseline returns & Transition zone drills to get you to the kitchen line

Third week - Teamwork drills to improve your position and communication on the court 16 max participants per week.

PICKLEBALL FOR FIRST TIMERS

Learn something new in 2024! This class is a great way to learn the basics of pickleball from the ground up! Each session is scheduled for 1.5 hours. A review of basic rules, how to keep score, serving, court position, equipment review and review of the play-in rotation for general open play at Das Rec. This is a great fun way to stay active while learning all about this fast-growing sport! Equipment is provided. All classes led by a Certified Pro Instructor(s)

THE VOLLEYBALL INSTITUTE

LIFEGUARD TRAINING

Entry-level Lifeguard participants will gain the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies. Certification includes Lifeguard, CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, and First Aid. A valid email address must be provided to receive your certification from the American Red Cross.

BABYSITTER'S TRAINING (FIRST AID)

Start your own babysitting service the right way with a certification from our trained American Red Cross Instructor. This course provides the knowledge and skills necessary to safely give care for children and infants. Participants will develop leadership skills and learn basic childcare, first aid, and CPR. Please bring a sack lunch.

CPR CERTIFICATION CLASS

This American Red Cross CPR/AED program helps participants recognize and respond appropriately to cardiac and breathing emergencies. PICKLEBALL FOR SENIORS

This paddle sport combines the best of tennis, badminton and ping-pong into one of the fastest growing activities for people of all ages. These sessions offer recreational play for seniors playing at the beginner-plus and intermediate level who want enjoy a social level of play

Do you love gardening? Join Jenn at the Westside Community Center to learn about vegetable gardening in Comal County. We will discuss how to start a garden, what varieties thrive in this area, and maintenance. There will be opportunities to harvest from our community garden as well!
