DONOR DIGEST BLEEDING DISORDERS CONFERENCE

TEAM NBDF

PROMISE PARTNERS

LEGACY GIVING

A LETTER FROM THE CEO Friend, At the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF), progress is powered by people like you — our donors, fundraisers, and champions. Your generosity fuels progress, celebrates community, and creates a future filled with greater possibilities. In this issue of Donor Digest, I’m honored to share some inspiring highlights: Our community came together in a powerful way at this year’s Bleeding Disorders Conference (BDC), reminding us of the strength we find when we stand side by side. Meet the runners of Team NBDF as they prepare to take on the TCS New York City Marathon and the JAL Honolulu Marathon. They will be joining thousands of runners and millions of spectators in an unforgettable day of endurance, inspiration, and community. Learn more about NBDF’s monthly giving program, Promise Partners, and find out how you can create steady, reliable support that fuels life-changing programs and ensures that people and families affected by bleeding disorders never have to navigate a diagnosis alone. During National Estate Planning Awareness Week (October 19-25), join NBDF’s Philanthropist of the Year, Alex Borstein, in planning for the future and find out how you can make a will to make sure that your wishes are honored and make a lasting impact on NBDF’s future. Each of these stories represents more than an event or milestone — they represent lives changed, families supported, and a stronger future for our entire community. Thank you for helping us make it all possible. Warm regards, Philip M. Gattone, M.Ed President & CEO National Bleeding Disorders Foundation

The Hemophilia Alliance held its 15th Hill Day on September 29, 2026. Participating advocates included patients and families living with bleeding disorders; hemophilia treatment center (HTC) staff; and representatives from NBDF and other patient group partners – in all, 132 people from 35 states! The group visited 160 offices across Capitol Hill to educate lawmakers about bleeding disorders and policies important to the bleeding disorder community: Importance of the federal hemophilia programs at HRSA and CDC. HRSA grants have helped support comprehensive care provided by the HTC network since the 1970s – and make HTCs eligible to participate in the 340B Drug Discount Program. CDC funding supports surveillance, prevention, and education activities that benefit bleeding disorder patients. It’s essential that Congress continue funding for these programs in fiscal year 2027. Maintain HTCs’ ability to participate in the 340B program; avoid one-size-fits-all reforms that ignore the unique characteristics of HTC 340Bs. HTCs earn program income by participating in the 340B Drug Discount Program; that program income supports the delivery of comprehensive care and services to all HTC patients. As Congress weighs various 340B reform proposals, it’s vitally important that lawmakers maintain HTCs’ ability to participate in the 340B program. End copay accumulators, maximizers, and other insurer practices that make it hard for patients to afford their medicines and stay on therapy. People with bleeding disorders need to maintain quality health insurance in order to access care. But even with good insurance, people with bleeding disorders face high out-of-pocket costs every year and often rely on copay assistance to afford their costs. Pending legislation (the HELP Copays Act, HR 6423/S 864) would prohibit copay diversion tactics and ensure that “all copays count.” The Hemophilia Alliance thanks all the individuals and groups who participated in this year’s Alliance Hill Day. Our unified voice helps lift up policies that will benefit all people living with bleeding disorders!
