Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes 2013

The Festival de la Plaisance de Cannes, otherwise known as the International Cannes Boat Show, will mark its 36th edition in 2013. From the 10th to the 15th of September the glittering Bay of Cannes will showcase an impressive in-water boat show event on the yachting calendar.

During the six day event over 550 boats will be on display, built by the leading luxury shipyards, spread over the Vieux Port and the Port Pierre Canto. With a mix of motor boats and sailing boats ranging from 10 to 50 metres on the water, and parts manufacturers and service companies positioned on the land.

Areas Le vieux port’s new equipment village, located in the heart of the Pantiero and the show itself offer yachting equipment suppliers. These suppliers will have a prominent place in the Festival en will include close to 50 exhibitors in the new “Equipment Village”. Furthermore, the Albert Edouard North & South Jetties - SuperYacht Area will showcase the largest international projects with boats ranging from 15 to 45 metres. | 14 |

Futhermore the Pantiero, Quai Saint-Pierre, Quai Max Laubeuf offers visitors boats from 10 to 25 metres, which will include traditional yachts, sail boats, motorboats, open boats, sport fishing and fly drive crafts. The Multihull area has the added advantage of the new pontoon in the Pantiero to which flexible pontoons can be added. When open it will allow yachts out of port for sea-trials and when close it will allow visitors to cross between the quays. Over 40 multihull yachts will be exhibited in this area. Other go-to areas are the Espace brokerage & charter in port Pierre Canto, the Espace Riviera, which includes the VIP area.

Tender area A long-term feature of the Cannes Boat Show, 2013 sees the expansion of the Tender Area to reflect owners’ and buyers’ increasing interest in the design and performance of this equipment. The on-land tender area will occupy the section along the beach, from the roundabout of the Albert Edouard South and North piers to the main entrance of the show.

Tenders will also be present to connect the two main piers of the port for demonstrations.

To yacht owners a tender is the essential addition to fully enjoy the freedom sea, the easy way to transfer to the shore, and to reach every bay or every beach. To give you this, your tender must be reliable, safe, fast and large enough when sailing, but also small when stored either into a garage or outside (stern platform, fly deck).

It has been designed and tested to withstand the most extreme stress, although it was expressly created as a tender.

The best rib tender with folding rigid keel Extender is the only tender in the world to be able to fold on itself to use less space on board the yacht and therefore offer more space for guests.

While closed, it still floats, so you can unload it directly to water and then prepare it for use.

While closed it keeps just 3,9 Meters, and it goes to 6,1 meters while open.

The patented locking system ensures, once opened, all the safety and the performances of a conventional hull of the same size.

Built by Cockwells in Cornwall UK, this is the new 9.5m ‘Owners Tender’ for the 73 metre Vitruvius super yacht currently under construction with Perini Navi and due for launch in 2013.

Designed by Andrew Wolstenholme in collaboration with the Cockwells in-house design team, the renderings show the tender’s retro styling. The hull is being made from an epoxy foam sandwich construction. This lightweight composite technology will be finished with an external Awlgrip paint system and teak decking.

Electric bow thrusters will be fitted to the tender and when used in conjunction with a full fly-by-wire joystick control, will allow for exceptionally accurate manoeuvring and stability.

We used a lot of our experience in manufacturing and worked closely with Mattia to take the project to a new level and so we are very excited about the future of this project.”

As I did not own a boat, I started climbing to reach these secret bays.” As Mattia thinks back to these good times of the challenges of reaching, for instance, the Portiglione bay, he had the idea of using a similar experience over the sea in safe conditions and, why not, on side of yacht with a beautiful view.
