Arlington Parks & Recreation offers a variety of monthly membership packages that allow residents and visitors to enjoy programs and amenities at all recreation, athletics and 50+ centers across The American Dream City.

Monthly membership programs allow Arlington residents to participate in a wide range of Parks & Recreation’s programs at any center without paying additional fees as they would have under the previous membership program.

Monthly memberships can be purchased for individuals or for a family of up to five people. Individual membership rates are based on the age of the participant and are discounted for adult residents over the age of 60. Family memberships for anyone living under the same roof up to five people. Additional family members would need to purchase individual membership packages based on age. Non-residents are also eligible to buy a Parks & Recreation monthly membership at a slightly higher cost than residents.

Patrons can choose among three levels of membership, based on their needs and interests. For example, someone looking to swim laps at The East’s 113,000-gallon indoor pool or to take advantage of the skating at Elzie Odom Athletic Center may find the basic Blue membership to be the best fit for their fitness needs. And the Gold membership provides patrons with discounts on select programs as well as the highest level of access to amenities and programs at all centers, including in-person and virtual fitness classes, instructor-led fitness classes, and on-site childcare for up to four children during visits at no extra cost.

Ready to begin enjoying all the great amenities and programs that Arlington has to offer? Stop by any of the centers or the Parks & Recreation Administration Office, 717 W. Main St., to sign up today. You can also purchase a membership online; naturallyfun.org. For questions or help, please call the Admin Office at 817-459-5474 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

WOODLAND WEST PARK AQUATIC FACILITY

This project focuses on the design and construction of a new outdoor aquatic facility to replace the existing pool in west Arlington. Voters approved a $7 million bond proposal in the 2023 Bond Election. Consultant design services began in January 2025 and projected to be complete by October 2025.

The following milestones have been completed:

• A public online survey was sent out in early February 2025. Survey results were used to create (2) Concept Development designs.

• A public Open House was held on March 20, 2025, at the Dottie Lynn Recreation Center. Those that did not complete the online survey had the option to do so in person. The (2) Concept Development designs were also presented for viewing/comments.

In the month of May the Parks and Kimley-Horn staffs’ decided on a final Conceptual Plan layout of the aquatic facility. Kimley-Horn will produce construction documents in preparation for publicly bidding the project for construction beginning in November 2025.

A construction contract is anticipated to be awarded in January 2026, with construction starting in February 2026 and completing for opening in May 2027.

CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS

Arlington Parks and Recreation is committed to creating parks, facilities, and green spaces for you and your family to enjoy.

With park fees, bonds, and other sources of income, we’re able to renovate and create facilities to fit your needs.

Arlington residents unanimously approved a package of bond projects that focus on parks in the 2023 Bond Election.

Take a minute to read about projects we’ve recently completed or that are already under way.

*Please note that many of the elements shown for these projects are renderings and conceptual in nature.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

*Please note, all renderings are subject to change based on scope of work and project budget.

RICHARD SIMPSON PARK PHASE II IMPROVEMENTS

Richard Simpson Park is a 9-acre City park on the shoreline of Lake Arlington. It is one of only two Arlington parks that provide public access to Lake Arlington for recreational usage. The 2008 bond election included replacement of the lake house facility. The Phase-I development, that included design and construction of the new Kathryn Wilemon Lake House Event Center, was completed in 2019.

The 2018 Bond Program included improvements for Phase-II development.

The Phase-II improvements include a new parking area, nature-themed playground, pavilions, walking trails, exercise stations, picnic stations, an outdoor plaza space, landscaping and irrigation, along with the installation of a new dedicated covered fishing pier.

Construction began in September 2024 and is projected to be complete by July 2025.

The following milestones have been completed:

• Freese and Nichols, Inc. (design consultant) completed construction documents February 2024.

• Bidding for construction was in the Spring of 2024 with a construction contract awarded to Cole Construction, Inc. on June 25, 2024.

Upcoming milestones:

• Construction began in September 2024 and projected completion for opening in July 2025.

RIVER LEGACY PARK TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS

Due to erosion and bridge repairs, portions of the trail at River Legacy Park will be closed as we work to rebuild a better and safer trail for visitors to enjoy. Expected partial closures from Snider Creek Bridge and eastward began in mid-June 2024 and will last through Spring 2026.

River Legacy Park is a 1,100-acre property located in north Arlington along the Trinity River Corridor. The facility is Arlington’s largest park and serves hundreds of thousands of visitors annually. The existing hike and bike trail has been in place for approximately 27 years and is experiencing substantial areas of erosion due to the migration of the Trinity River. This river migration has necessitated the trail to be realigned to prevent further failures based on erosion of the riverbank. Heavy rainfall events in late 2018 led to even further erosion that was not identified within the original scope of work, and thus required the contract modification in January 2019 for the Phase-I project.

PHASE I

Realignment and replacement for approximately 1.3 miles of existing trail within the Trinity River Floodplain. Project limits between mile marker 1 and the pedestrian bridge crossing located the at east end at N. Collins St. parking lot.

PHASE II

Reroute of 1 mile of trail from mile marker 0.0 to 1.0.

RIVER LEGACY PARK TRAIL WEST CONNECTION 2020

Trail connection of far west end of River legacy Trail with City of Fort Worth trail, ½ mile in length with a pedestrian bridge crossing.

The parks department is awaiting final approvals and permitting for both phases and the west connection. Construction began in Fall 2023 with an estimated 12-16 month completion time.

AL ROLLINS PARK

Al Rollins Park is a 4.75-acre park located along the north side of SW Green Oaks Boulevard, adjacent to the Arlington Public Library – Southwest Branch. Site amenities in the initial phase of construction include a loop walking trail, interactive and inclusive playground area, landscaping, irrigation, and a unique park monument sign to honor the dedication of Al Rollins to the development and history of Arlington over the past 70 years.

Construction services with C. Green Scaping will begin in July 2025 and are projected to be complete by Summer 2026.

The following milestones have been completed:

• Parkhill (design consultant) completed a master plan of the park in 2024.

• Parkhill completed construction documents in early 2025 and helped facilitate the public bidding process for construction services in May 2025.

• A park dedication ceremony was held at the park on June 28, 2025. City officials, family and friends of Mr. Rollins gathered to show their respects for his lifelong commitment to making Arlington “The American Dream City”.

TEXAS RANGERS GOLF CLUB

701 Brown Blvd.

fb.com/RangersGolfClub

Arlington Golf and the Texas Rangers have partnered to build the world’s only Major League Baseball-branded golf course — the Texas Rangers Golf Club — which opened in February 2019. This collaborative branding partnership, along with $24 million in course renovations, affords the opportunity for Arlington to offer a destination golf course for both Arlington residents and visitors alike.

“As the world’s only MLB-themed golf course, this course is sure to be a ‘bucket list’ item for baseball fans across the globe, especially our Rangers fan right here in Arlington,” Mayor Jeff Williams said.

The golf club is open to the public seven days a week. Texas Rangers Golf Club is the closest 18-hole golf course to Arlington’s Entertainment District, offering a chance to play golf in conjunction with a visit to a Dallas Cowboys or Texas Rangers Game, TexasLive!, or the numerous other events at AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Park, UTA or downtown Arlington.

A $24 million project, Texas Rangers Golf Club involved a total renovation and updated routing of the existing golf course with improved turf grasses and additional water features. A new 33,871-square-foot clubhouse, which opened in early 2020, features a full-service restaurant and bar, covered patio overlooking the golf course, pro shop, locker rooms, and numerous rental and event spaces.

Newly renovated, it’s hard to find a more beautiful course than the award-winning Tierra Verde Golf Club, which celebrated its 25th anniversary in late 2023. Tierra Verde is the first golf course in Texas, and the first municipal course in the world, to be certified as an Audubon Signature Sanctuary. Walk onto the first tee and enter an environment where golf and nature come together in harmony.

Opened in 1998 and carved from 250 acres of secluded terrain, the course’s unsurpassed layout encompasses a variety of natural settings and offers an outstanding playing experience on every hole. The course has hosted many prestigious events, including the Byron Nelson Qualifying Tournament. Tierra Verde has consistently been named one of the top-10 public golf courses in the Metroplex by AvidGolfer magazine, earning cover honors in 2023.

Each hole has five sets of tees, sculpted fairways, strategically placed sand bunkers and water hazards - all accented by stately trees and beautiful native grasses. The facility features a indoor golf training bay, lighted driving range, three-hole practice course and large chipping and putting green complex.

Lessons and clinics are taught by PGA/LPGA professionals and apprentices, an outdoor pavilion and full-service restaurant, Ventana Grille, that complement every event from small corporate outings to large fundraising tournaments.

MEADOWBROOK PARK GOLF COURSE

1300 E. Dugan St.

fb.com/MeadowbrookParkGolfCourse 817-275-0221

Arlington’s tradition of outstanding golf began in the 1920’s with Meadowbrook Park Golf Course. Conveniently located just east of downtown Arlington, the golf course provides an excellent choice for families and leagues.

The golf course is the centerpiece of Arlington’s first city park. Arlington purchased the 52-acre site in 1923 and it was sponsored by the Arlington Rotary Club.

The site includes picnic grounds and the tree-filled, nine-hole golf course. Many of the holes feature vistas of nearby AT&T Stadium, home of the Dallas Cowboys.

Meadowbrook Park is the perfect facility to learn golf and sharpen short-game skills. The 9-Hole, par-33 layout consists of six par 4s, 250 to 300 yards in length, and three par 3s, approximately 150 yards in length.

The course can be easily walked or played under time constraints and has a long-standing commitment to beginning adult and junior golfers. Golf legends Ben Hogan and Byron Nelson once led golf clinics here.

Its small greens and narrow fairways are designed to challenge every level of player.

The clubhouse offers a full line pro shop, concessions, and golf cart rentals. Exclusive facility rental opportunities are available for both golf and non-golf outdoor activities.

With a long-standing commitment to environmental enhancement and preservation, Meadowbrook Park Golf Course is like a walk in the park for the whole family!
