Storytime begins at 9:45 AM followed by come and go activities. Dress-up as a pirate or mermaid and receive ½ off admission when the Play Pool opens to the public at 12 PM. RENT A POOL OR PAVILION Rent a pool for your next party! Select outdoor pools are available to rent Thursday through Sunday for private parties, family gatherings, reunions, etc. Times vary depending on the pools’ operating hours. Lifeguards are provided for all rentals.

Fee includes up to the maximum number of guests listed and a two hour rental. A 72-hour notice is required to book an outdoor pool. Changes or cancellations to pool reservations are subject to a $50 administrative fee.

Allen Bolden Pool is an L-shaped Olympic sized pool that meets the needs of virtually every swim enthusiast. The pool features a diving board and zero depth entry. The depth of pool ranges from zero to thirteen feet deep. Additional amenities include concessions, six shade structures and a large grass campus.

Bad Königshofen Family Aquatic Center offers a great value for the entire family. The pool features include an interactive spray pad and shallow water play pool, lap pool, diving area and two water slides. ** The depth of pools ranges from one and half feet to twelve feet deep. Other amenities include concessions, storage lockers, shower facilities, deck furniture and a shade pavilion.

The Randol Mill Family Aquatic Center offers aquatic recreation for all members of the family. The facility includes interactive recreation elements such as a shallow water play structure, vortex pools, current channel, water slide* and tot and leisure areas. The depth of pools ranges from zero depth to four feet deep Other amenities include two shade pavilions, shower facilities, deck furniture and concessions.

Woodland West Pool is a popular neighborhood pool that features shaded areas and grass. The back wall of the pool is elevated and is great place to jump off and make big splashes. Woodland West Pool also features a large shallow end that is great for young children.

The depth of pool ranges from two feet to eleven feet deep.

Services at the pool include swimming lessons and facility rentals.

Splash pads are FREE, kid-friendly fountains and spray areas that are a great way to beat the summer heat!

Arlington has three splash pad locations throughout Arlington that open 10 AM to 8 PM every day Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day Weekend and only on weekends through September.

City of Arlington Aquatics, with the help of Mid-Cities Arlington Swimming, is spreading the word about water safety by offering a morning of FREE water safety lessons and activities.

There will be demos with certified Water Safety Instructors, fun activities, safety related vendors, and lunch provided!

Prerequisites: 25 yard frontcrawl, backcrawl, breaststroke, sidestroke, elementary backstroke, 15 yards butterfly, 1 minute tread and backfloat. All strokes must be performed at a Level 4 skill level. Classes are taught out of Hugh Smith Indoor Pool.

READY, SET, GUARD! JUNIOR GUARD CLASS Junior guard volunteers learn what its like to be a lifeguard and gain the skills necessary for future employment. You will receive basic water training and classroom type activities with interactive videos.

This class is for currently certified lifeguards who are seeking advanced training to train prospective lifeguards. Must hold a current American Red Cross lifeguard certification.

Prerequisite: You must have completed Level 5 swimming skills or demonstrate the ability to swim 100 yards, tread water for at least two minutes and submerge to a depth of at least 8 feet.

PRIVATE LESSONS Students in private lessons learn to swim as fast as possible because of undivided attention from the instructor and individualized lesson plans.

Private swim lessons are scheduled throughout the summer and are available at different times during each session.

Fees are four classes, 25 minutes each, for $100 per single student.

Students must meet the age requirements and prerequisite prior to the first day of the class that they are registered for.

Parents, please allow yourself extra time on the first day of class for completing class release forms and to meet your child’s instructor.

To ensure quality instruction and safety every effort is made to adhere to strict student-to-teacher ratios. Classes have a maximum enrollment of 4-8 students depending on the level.

Only those registered for classes will be allowed in the water while classes are in session. The tot pool at Bad KĂśnigshofen pool is not available for use during class hours.

Swim lessons for individuals with disabilities or special needs are available following the inclusion model. Private lessons are also available for individuals wanting one on one instruction.

TRANSFER AND WITHDRAW Participants must be withdrawn from the class three days prior to the class start date to receive a refund.

CANCELED CLASSES In the event that a class is canceled, every effort will be made to notify you by telephone. On the first day of class verify that the pool staff has the correct phone number.

If a class is canceled for any reason on the behalf of the City of Arlington, we will try to make up time by adding minutes to the remaining classes. However if this is not possible, the following Friday will serve as our designated make up day.

Aquatics classes must have at least two participants. The Aquatics team will move registrants of classes that do not make to another class, issue a refund, or find other accommodations.

SWIM CLASSES The City of Arlington Outdoor Learn to Swim program offers a variety of classes and schedule times to meet your needs during the busy summertime!

Each course is $60 per student and consists of 8 classes, 25 minutes for preschool students, and 40 minutes for youth students.

The American Red Cross Learn to Swim program includes parent/tot, preschool, and school age swimming lessons. We also offer private lessons for all ages.

PRESCHOOL SWIM CLASSES

LEVEL ASSESSMENT AGES 3-5

STARFISH — AGES: 6-35 MONTHS

DOLPHIN - PSA 2 — AGES: 4-5

One parent/adult will assist the child in developing water adjustment, games and underwater exploration as led by an instructor. Child must wear a swim diaper.

Goals: With little to no assistance, swim on front 3 body lengths, roll to back, float for 15 seconds, roll to front swim 3 body lengths.

Goals: Shallow angle dive, swim Front Crawl 50 yards, Elementary Backstroke 50 yards, Backstroke and Breaststroke 25 yards.

LEVEL 6 — PERSONAL WATER SAFETY Maximum Enrolled: 8 Prerequisite: Shallow angle dive, swim Front Crawl 50 yards, Elementary Backstroke 50 yards, Backstroke, and Breaststroke 25 yards.

Goals: Swim 500 yards continuously.

Survival float for 5 minutes, roll to back and float for 5 minutes. Retrieve an object from bottom of pool (depth 7-10 feet), return to surface, and swim to start point.

LEVEL 6 — FITNESS SWIMMING

Prerequisite: Jump in deep water, tread or float for 1 minute, swim Front Crawl or Elementary Backstroke for 25 yards. Perform 15 yards of Front Crawl with rotary breathing and 15 yards of Elementary Backstroke.

Maximum Enrolled: 8 Prerequisite: Shallow angle dive, swim Front Crawl 50 yards, Elementary Backstroke 50 yards, Backstroke, and Breaststroke 25 yards.

Goals: Swim 500 yards continuously. Perform Copper 12-minute swim test and compare results with the pre-assessment results.

BEGINNING SWIMMING FOR ADULTS

No prerequisite. This class is designed for teens, who have little or no knowledge of swimming or want to improve their swimming strokes.

Beginner level class introduces Crawl Stroke, gliding, kicks, deep water swimming and survival floating.

STROKE DEVELOPMENT FOR TEENS

Intermediate level class builds on the fundamental basic aquatics skills and focuses more on technique. Adult participants are comfortable in the water and can float, glide and move forward independently.

Participants entering this course must have a Level 4 certificate or must be able to demonstrate all the completion requirements from Level 3.
