ANNUAL REPORT 2026 1
One Community.
A Lifetime of Impact.
Scholarship. Character. Service. Strength.
Message from the Interim President Dear Friends, When I returned to Nativity Worcester last year, it felt less like starting a new position and more like coming home. Having previously served on the Nativity team, I knew this was a community unlike any other, grounded in Ignatian values where relationships endure, expectations are high, and every student is known, challenged, and supported as they grow in mind, heart, and spirit. Today, as Director of Graduate Support and External Partnerships and now Interim President, I have the privilege of witnessing something truly extraordinary: the impact of a Nativity education long after students leave our classrooms. I’ve been privileged to work with students and families as they navigate the high school placement process, and with graduates as they make their way through high school, prepare for college, launch careers, and begin building lives rooted in purpose. I’ve witnessed their successes, seen them overcome challenges, and watched them grow into people for and with others: thoughtful leaders, devoted family members, and engaged community members. Time and time again, I am reminded that eighth grade graduation is not the end of the Nativity journey; it is only the beginning. This year’s annual report captures that journey as we celebrate important and historic milestones in our community. We celebrate the Kircher Class of 2026 as they begin high school, honor the Grande Class of 2022 as they graduate from high school, and applaud members of the Anchieta Class of 2018 as they earn college degrees and launch meaningful careers. We also celebrate another historic milestone as the Ebo Class becomes Nativity Worcester’s inaugural eighth-grade girls class, continuing the remarkable growth of the Julie Power Girls Division alongside the Chick Weiss Boys Division. Together, these stories demonstrate what is possible when young people are surrounded by a community that believes in them every step of the way. As I step into the role of Interim President for the 2026–2027 school year, I do so with deep gratitude for the trust placed in me and with tremendous optimism for the future of this remarkable community. Together, we are expanding opportunities, strengthening our mission, and preparing for the next generation of leaders to make a lasting impact in Worcester and beyond. Gratefully,
Meredith K. Kent Interim President
Once a Knight, Always a Knight At Nativity Worcester, graduation is not the end of the journey; it is the beginning of a lifelong relationship. Rooted in the Ignatian tradition of cura personalis, or care for the whole person, our commitment to students extends far beyond their years in our classrooms. From high school through college and into their careers, we remain alongside our graduates as they pursue their goals, overcome challenges, and navigate new opportunities. This year, we celebrated milestones across the Nativity community, proudly recognizing members of the Kircher
Class of 2026, the Grande Class of 2022, and the Anchieta Class of 2018. Together, these graduates represent the many paths a Nativity education can take, from middle school graduation to college commencement and the start of professional careers. These accomplishments reflect our students’ perseverance and the strength of a community that continues to support them long after they leave our classrooms. No matter where life takes them, our graduates will always have a home at Nativity Worcester.
In May, the Nativity Worcester community gathered to celebrate graduates at every stage of their educational journey. Students, families, faculty, staff, graduates, and supporters came together to honor the achievements of the Kircher, Grande, and Anchieta classes. A highlight of the event was hearing from representatives of each class, who shared reflections on their experiences at Nativity and the impact the school continues to have on their lives. Their stories spoke to the friendships, mentorship, opportunities, and sense of belonging that define the Nativity experience.

I wouldn’t be where I am today without the help of Nativity. This school, as small as it is, helped push me to be a better student, son, and mentor. One thing that makes Nativity special is that it does not stop once students graduate from middle school. Even after graduation, Nativity continues to support and stay involved in students’ lives. Growing Leaders for Life The Journey of Joveto De Carvalho When Nativity Worcester opened its doors in 2003, Joveto De Carvalho was among the students who helped write the first chapter of the story that continues to unfold more than two decades later. A member of the Xavier Class of 2007, he embraced the opportunities that would lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, leadership, and service. After graduating from Nativity Worcester, Joveto attended New Canaan High School through the A Better Chance (ABC) Program, where he excelled academically while developing the confidence, independence, and leadership skills that would guide him throughout his journey. He became the first member of his family to graduate from college, earning a degree from the College of the Holy Cross and becoming the first Nativity Worcester graduate to do so. For Joveto, graduation was never the end of the story. It marked the beginning of a lifelong commitment to giving back. He returned to Nativity Worcester as a Teaching Fellow, investing in the next generation of students and striving to provide the same encouragement and guidance that had shaped his own life. Following his fellowship, Joveto continued serving the Worcester community through behavioral health services at Open Sky before earning a second degree in computer science from Worcester State University. Today, Joveto is a Software Engineer at TJX, where he continues to build a career rooted in curiosity, perseverance, and service. In June 2026, the Massachusetts Legislature recognized him with a Portuguese Heritage Award for his contributions to the community and his commitment to preserving Portuguese culture while inspiring future generations. From founding student to college graduate, educator, mentor, and accomplished professional, Joveto’s journey reflects the transformative power of educational opportunity and the enduring value of giving back. His story is a powerful reminder that the true power of leadership lies not simply in where we go, but in how we use our experiences to lift others along the way.
Joveto and Erin, a former Nativity Teaching Fellow and current Fellowship Community Support Coordinator, celebrated their marriage this year surrounded by members of the Nativity community.

Opening Doors to Opportunity Boston College’s Pine Manor Institute This year, Nativity Worcester strengthened its partnership with Boston College’s Pine Manor Institute for Student Success, expanding opportunities for students to pursue ambitious educational goals and prepare for success beyond eighth grade. Beginning the summer after graduation from Nativity, accepted students participate in immersive programming on Boston College’s campus, where they engage in rigorous academics, build meaningful relationships with mentors, and begin receiving individualized guidance that continues throughout high school. Students have the opportunity to enroll at Messina College, where generous financial aid meets 100% of demonstrated need, ensuring that cost is never a barrier to opportunity. Upon successful academic completion at Messina College, students may transfer to Boston College to complete their bachelor’s degree or continue their education through one of several partner universities. This year marked a historic milestone as Nativity nominated eighth graders from both the Chick Weiss Boys Division and the Julie Power Girls Division for the first time. In recognition of the inaugural eighth-grade girls’ class, the Pine Manor Institute generously expanded the number of nominations available to Nativity Worcester this year, creating even more pathways to opportunity. We are proud to celebrate the eight students accepted into this year’s cohort, the largest group in Nativity Worcester’s history. Their acceptance marks the beginning of a unique journey of mentorship, opportunity, and support that will continue through high school, college, and beyond.

“Pine Manor gave me the opportunity to experience what it’s like to live on a college campus while becoming more independent and building skills I can use in my everyday life. At Pine Manor, you do more than learn; you become part of a family that stays with you long after the summer ends.”
“I’ve met amazing people, made memories I’ll never forget, and gotten a real sense of what college life can be like. Between the new experiences, field trips, and friendships I’ve made, PMI has helped me grow and become more confident. Learning Without Limits
Summer of Service: Learning. Serving. Leading. At Nativity Worcester, the school year doesn’t begin in September; it begins each July with Summer of Service, a signature component of our holistic educational model that prepares students for the academic year ahead. By combining rigorous academics, meaningful service, and transformative experiences, students begin each school year ready to thrive as scholars, leaders, and compassionate members of their communities. Inspired by Malcolm X’s words, “Education is our passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare for it today,” this year’s program challenged students to embrace learning as the foundation for future

opportunity and to recognize that education extends far beyond the classroom. Rooted in Nativity Worcester’s four pillars of Scholarship, Character, Service, and Strength, Summer of Service blends daily academic instruction with service learning, leadership development, and experiential opportunities that build confidence, resilience, and curiosity while preventing summer learning loss. Whether beginning their Nativity journey or returning for another year, students start each school year with a renewed sense of purpose, strengthened relationships, and the skills needed to succeed academically and lead with integrity.
4 Pillars In Action
Learning Building the Foundation Every student participates in daily English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Service Learning classes designed to strengthen academic skills and prepare them to engage thoughtfully with the world around them. Working alongside teachers, teaching fellows, interns, and student support staff, students receive individualized instruction that reinforces core concepts, builds confidence, and helps prevent summer learning loss before the new school year begins. Service Learning is woven into the academic day, encouraging students to explore the historical themes, social issues, and community needs they will encounter through their service experiences. At Nativity Worcester, scholarship is about more than academic achievement. It is about developing curious learners who ask thoughtful questions, think critically, and understand that with knowledge comes a responsibility to serve others.
“The Ebo and Harak classes each visited and learned about several different organizations during our time participating in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative. We each defined philanthropy as a class, learned about qualities of effective non-profits, and learned how individuals and organizations can give their time, talent, and treasure.” – Jillian Tetteh, Ebo Class of 2027
Serving Putting Learning into Action Each day, students put classroom learning into practice by serving alongside local community organizations. Whether harvesting produce, supporting veterans, preparing meals, or serving local nonprofits, students experienced firsthand how compassion and service can strengthen communities. Throughout the summer, students reflected on these experiences in Service Learning, discussing not only what they had done, but why it mattered. These conversations challenged students to think critically about justice, empathy, and each person’s responsibility to improve the world around them, putting into practice the Ignatian call to become people for and with others. For eighth-grade students, that commitment to service culminated in the Youth Philanthropy Initiative. Rather than simply serving their community, students became philanthropists, evaluating community needs, learning how nonprofit organizations create change, and recommending grant funding to local organizations. Through this experience, students discovered that leadership means both serving others and empowering others to succeed.
“Summer Session is a time for us to welcome new 5th and 6th graders, meet new teachers, and learn about many of the amazing organizations in our community. We spend our days in classes, sharpening our math and reading skills in preparation for the school year ahead and learning about ways we can be of service to our communities.” – Elias Gomez, Harak Class of 2027

Experiences That Shape Leaders
Some of the most powerful lessons during Summer of Service take place beyond the classroom. This summer, students toured college campuses, visited local high schools, discovered marine ecosystems at the New England Aquarium, and participated in the annual Field Day, where teamwork, perseverance, and school spirit were celebrated through friendly competition. These experiences encouraged students to imagine new possibilities, strengthen relationships, and see learning in entirely new ways. The school visits were intentionally designed to help students begin thinking about “what comes after Nativity,” with grade-appropriate tours, alumni panels, and activities that encouraged them to envision their own educational journeys. For seventh- and eighth-grade students, Adventure Bound provided an unforgettable opportunity to step outside their comfort zones. Whitewater rafting, ropes courses, and rock climbing challenged students to trust one another, persevere through uncertainty, and discover strengths they didn’t know they possessed. This summer also marked the first year in which both boys and girls fully participated in their separate Adventure Bound experiences, an important milestone in the continued growth of Nativity’s co-divisional model. The Summer of Service concluded with Field Day and the Summer Awards Ceremony, celebrating not only students’ academic growth but also the leadership, resilience, and character they demonstrated throughout the program.

The Pillar Awards honor students whose actions, leadership, and commitment to others reflect the values that define the Nativity experience. Scholarship Award is presented to one outstanding student from each grade level in recognition of exceptional academic achievement and dedication to learning. One graduating eighth-grade student receives the Spirit Award, presented during the Graduation Ceremony to a student who has consistently embodied Nativity Worcester’s mission, values, and spirit throughout their time at the school. Together, these awards celebrate not only what our students achieve, but who they become as scholars, leaders, and compassionate members of their communities.
Building the Future Growing to Seven Full Classes As Nativity Worcester welcomes more students, we remain committed to ensuring that our learning environment grows alongside our community. This summer, renovations at our Lincoln Street campus prepared us to welcome a seventh full class of students, marking another important milestone in the expansion of the Julie Power Girls Division. The project transformed former locker rooms into a bright new classroom and modern student bathrooms, complete with updated technology, furnishings, and instructional resources. More than additional space, these improvements allow us to expand opportunity while preserving the small classes, strong relationships, and personalized support that have defined the Nativity experience for more than two decades.
Building Opportunity Together Transforming our Lincoln Street campus to welcome a seventh full class was made possible through the generosity, expertise, and partnership of organizations that believe in Nativity Worcester’s mission and future. We are deeply grateful to the foundations and community partners whose grant support helped make this important investment possible, and to our construction partners who brought the project from vision to reality.

Growing Leaders: The Next Chapter Begins Just two years after opening the Julie Power Girls Division, Nativity Worcester reached another historic milestone this summer: the Ebo Class of 2027 became our inaugural eighthgrade girls’ class. Alongside them, the Harak Class of 2027 entered its final year at Nativity as the first boys’ class to graduate alongside the girls. Together, Ebo and Harak represent an exciting new chapter in Nativity Worcester’s history. The Chick Weiss Boys Division and Julie Power Girls Division are growing side by side, creating opportunities for students to discover their strengths, develop confidence as leaders, and challenge themselves academically, all while remaining united by the mission, traditions, and four pillars that have shaped the Nativity experience for more than two decades. 18 NATIVITYWORCESTER.ORG

Mission
A Lifelong Commitment Within their respective divisions, students build strong relationships and a deep sense of belonging while sharing in the experiences that make them one Nativity community. Whether learning in the classroom, serving throughout Worcester, competing on the field, or celebrating school traditions, they are formed by the same commitment to Scholarship, Character, Service, and Strength. As the Ebo Class prepares to make history as Nativity Worcester’s first graduating class of girls and our school expands to seven full classes, the promise of the co-divisional model is becoming a reality: more young people have access to a transformative Nativity education while the close-knit community at the heart of our mission remains as strong as ever.
Julie Power Girls Division
Being part of Nativity’s first eighthgrade girls class means we’re creating something that other girls will get to be part of for years to come. I’m proud of how much we’ve grown together and the traditions we’ve helped start. It’s special knowing that we’ll always be the first.” – May Duffy, Ebo Class of 2027
Seeing the Julie Power Girls Division grow from an idea to now, watching the inaugural eighth-grade class step into this moment, is deeply moving. To know her name and to have her spirit now accompany these remarkable girls as they complete their Nativity journey is a profound honor. The Nativity girls’ confidence, curiosity, and promise are a great continuation of Julie’s legacy. We applaud and appreciate the great work of the faculty and team at Nativity Worcester who deserve all the credit for the Julie Power Girls Division.” – Sue Curtin, NSW Supporter
Chick Weiss Boys Division
Having the Boys Division carry my name is an honor, but what means the most is seeing the young men who give that name meaning every day. As the Harak Class prepares to become the first boys to graduate alongside our inaugural class of girls, I’m reminded that while Nativity continues to grow, what we ask of our students remains the same: work hard, care for one another, serve your community, and use your gifts to make a difference.” – Dr. Chick Weiss, Co-Founder, Trustee
The Harak Class of 2027 gets to be part of a new chapter for Nativity. We’ll be the 22nd graduating class, but we’ll also be the first group of boys to graduate with the girls. It’s pretty cool knowing that we’ll always be part of that history.” – Marlon Sanchez, Harak Class of 2027

Message from the Chair of the Board Dear Friends, As I reflect on the past year at Nativity Worcester, I am filled with gratitude and optimism. Every milestone we celebrate, every student who graduates, every opportunity we create, every life transformed, is possible because of a community of supporters who believe deeply in our mission and the limitless potential of our students. This year was one of remarkable momentum. We celebrated the graduation of another Nativity class, continued the successful expansion of the Julie Power Girls Division, welcomed a seventh class of students, and invested in our Lincoln Street campus to ensure that every child continues to learn in an environment that reflects the excellence of the Nativity experience. These milestones represent thoughtful, mission-driven growth, expanding opportunity while preserving the close-knit community and personalized support that have defined Nativity for more than two decades. The Board of Trustees is committed to ensuring that Nativity Worcester remains strong for generations to come. That responsibility extends beyond stewarding today’s resources; it means planning boldly for tomorrow. From investing in exceptional faculty and staff to envisioning a permanent home that will allow us to serve even more students, every decision is guided by the goal of creating even greater opportunities for young people in Worcester. Behind each of these accomplishments is something even more important: a community that believes in the potential of every child. Your generosity provides far more than tuition-free education. It opens doors, strengthens families, and creates opportunities that change the trajectory of students’ lives.

Grow the Mission
Leave a Legacy Through the Nativity Forever Society A planned gift is a meaningful way to carry your values forward and create opportunities for Nativity students for years to come. Through a bequest, beneficiary designation, retirement account, donor-advised fund, or gift of appreciated securities, you can help ensure that young people continue to have the opportunity to discover their potential, pursue their dreams, and grow into leaders for life. If you have already included Nativity Worcester in your estate plans, we invite you to join the Nativity Forever Society so we may recognize and celebrate your generosity and commitment. If you are considering a legacy gift or would simply like to learn more, we would be honored to help you explore the possibilities and create a lasting connection between what matters to you today and the opportunities available to Nativity students tomorrow.
“Growing up, my father always told me, ‘I can’t leave you money, but I can give you a good education.’ That gift changed my life. Generous scholarships carried me from humble beginnings all the way through Harvard and medical school. Sharon and I included Nativity Worcester in our estate plans as our way of passing that gift to the next generation. Nativity gives students the key to build their own futures, and we are honored to stand behind them.”

Sponsor a Student
One Gift. Twice the Opportunity.
Every Nativity Worcester student receives a transformative, tuition-free, faith-based education designed to support them through middle school, high school, college, and beyond. Through our new Sponsor a Student initiative, you can invest in a student’s journey at the stage or stages that are meaningful to you. And right now, your generosity can go twice as far.
$250,000 MATCHING CHALLENGE Thanks to the generosity of an anonymous donor,
Sponsor a Student gifts will be matched dollar for
dollar, up to $25,000, while matching funds remain.
$25,000 Academic Sponsorship $50,000 Impact
$2,000 High School Sponsorship $4,000 Impact
Fund the academic-year experience for two Nativity students, supporting the rigorous academics, individualized attention, enrichment, and student support that define a Nativity education.
Extend Nativity’s lifelong commitment by supporting high school scholarships for graduates. These scholarships provide assistance based on individual need, helping families cover costs such as tuition, textbooks, technology, activities, and other educational expenses throughout high school.
$12,500 Semester Sponsorship $25,000 Impact Your gift, when matched, supports the equivalent of one student’s full academic-year experience, from September through June.
$5,000 Summer Sponsorship $10,000 Impact
Provide the Summer of Service experience to two students, which includes three weeks of academics, service learning, leadership development, and transformative experiences that prepare students for the year ahead.
$1,000 Post-Secondary Sponsorship $2,000 Impact Extend Nativity’s lifelong commitment to our graduates by supporting the Post-Secondary Scholarship Fund, which provides critical assistance to graduates facing unexpected financial gaps as they pursue college and other post-secondary opportunities.
Make a Lasting Commitment Every Sponsor a Student opportunity can become a multi-year commitment, and your support does not have to be limited to just one sponsorship level. Choose one or combine multiple opportunities that are meaningful to you, from the academic year and Summer of Service to high school scholarships and post-secondary support. Whether you make a one-year gift or pledge your support across multiple levels and multiple years, your commitment helps ensure Nativity Worcester students and graduates have access to these opportunities at every stage of their journey.
Sponsor the Full Nativity Journey $120,000 • Grades 5–8 A $120,000 four-year commitment supports the full cost of one student’s Nativity education from fifth grade through eighth-grade graduation, including both the academic year and Summer of Service. One commitment. Four years. An entire Nativity Worcester journey.
See Your Impact Nativity connects sponsors with a class or cohort of their choice, offering a meaningful way to follow students’ growth, milestones, and accomplishments through special updates and event invitations. This connection allows sponsors to see the impact of their generosity over time while ensuring that every gift supports the strength and success of the entire Nativity Worcester community.
