A WORD FROM THE MAYOR It is with great pride that we present to you this community profile that gives an overview of our beautiful municipality.

The Nation Municipality is a fast‐growing region that has a lot to offer. We are observing, since the last couple of years, a change that is taking place and we strongly believe that our municipality is a place to discover!

The Nation is the best of both worlds: you can enjoy the tranquility of the countryside all the while taking advantage of the proximity of the city. It’s the ideal place to stay and do business!

STRATEGIC LOCATION THE NATION MUNICIPALITY IS LOCATED IN EASTERN ONTARIO. The Nation Municipality is the largest township of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. It is strategically located close to several large cities and is made up of many residential developments located in attractive settings and of rich agricultural lands.

The Quebec border is a 20‐minute drive to the east, the City of Cornwall and the American bor‐ der is a 35‐minute drive to the south and the City of Ottawa, Canada’s Capital is just to the west.

The Na on is located just 10 minutes away from the new Amazon distribu on centre!

The Nation Municipality is also home to the famous St‐Albert Cheese Co‐op, the Calypso Waterpark, the biggest theme waterpark in Canada and the Larose Forest, one of the largest manmade forest in Eastern Ontario.

The Nation also has many parks for children, activities organized year‐round, two medical centres that offer various services, libraries, and much more!

AN ACTIVE COMMUNITY LIFE Curd Festival An annual festival that takes place at the St‐Albert Cheese Coop. It’s an event you won’t want to miss! The festival is comprised of 5 days of activities and entertainment for the whole family . You even get free curds!

Riceville Agricultural Fair An agricultural fair full of activities for the whole family, including horses and cattle competitions, tractor and truck pulls, a small market, music and dancing!

Duck Festival The Duck Festival takes place in the beautiful village of St‐Isidore. It offers a ton of activities for all ages, such as the famous duck race organized by the St‐Isidore firefighters.

The Nation has a lot of social clubs, sports associations and community groups that work towards promoting and embellishing our communities. In addition to its 5 community centres and numerous parks, the municipal recreational infrastructures include an arena and soon a sports complex.

THINGS TO SEE & DO Calypso Waterpark— The biggest theme waterpark in Canada! You will find the largest wavepool in the country, more than 35 slides and 100 water games, 2 theme rivers and much more!

Forêt Larose— To this day, more than 18 million trees have been planted to make the Larose Forest the second largest manmade forest in Ontario! The Larose Forest offers more than 200 km of roads and trails where you can enjoy hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, snow shoeing, cross‐ country skiing and much more!

Popsilos circuit— The Popsilos project combines art and agrifood tourism in a circuit that leads to five giant murals on farm silos in the Presco ‐Russell countryside.

Two of them are located in The Na on, one at the Ben‐Rey‐Mo Ltd. Farm (139 Principale Street in St‐Albert) and one at Horses by Hannah (8 Route 600 East in Casselman).

Domaine Cléroux— Visit the orchard of approximately 800 fruit trees, the sugar shack of 3 000 taps and the kiosk where you can find homemade products.

MUNICIPAL SERVICES & UTILITIES WASTE & RECYCLING The Nation Municipality is offering waste collection services to businesses and farms. Each business/farm is allowed a maximum of two (2) plastic bags (30’’ x 38’’) per week OR one (1) 145 litres (32 gallons) container with lid per week. For recyclable materials, each business/farm is allowed the equivalency of three (3) regular recycling blue boxes per week OR one (1) 145‐litre container per week.

OPRO FINAL REPORT The Nation Municipality’s Department of Economic Development, in partnership with the Economic Development and Tourism Department of the United Counties of Prescott and Russell, conducted 69 interviews as part of a survey that conducted from the month of May to the month of December 2017 with business owners in the community specializing in commercial, industrial, agricultural and tourism sectors.
