Since 1960 the National Trust of Australia (Tasmania) (“the Trust”) has been actively working towards conserving and protecting our heritage for future generations. The Tasmanian Government has recognised the role of the Trust through legislation, most recently in 2006. The Trust is an independent notfor-profit organisation supported by its members and the community. It is the principal cultural heritage and conservation organisation in our state, and the major operator of house museums and historic properties open to the public on behalf of the Tasmanian community.

Central to the Trust’s ability to achieve its objectives will be establishing its financial sustainability and eventually financial independence.

During the next five years the Trust will need to increase and broaden its operational income to support its:• • • •
