Primers are used to help create a better adhesion of a thinset, mud bed or self leveling component to the substrate for tiling. This helps increase bond strength and water resistance in tiling and reduce risk of chemical reaction with cement based adhesives.

Grants PR100 Primer

• Fast-drying, water based acrylic primer

• For porous and non-porous substrates, such as existing tiles, vinyl and carpet, and vinyl adhesive residue

• Can be used over old water based paints (not to be used over oil based paints)

Mapei Planicrete SP Screed

Synthetic rubber latex for improving adhesion of cementitious mortars. Planicrete is a latex based on synthetic polymers, which cannot be re-emulsified in water after hardening and are also resistant to saponification. When added to mortars, screeds and renders it increases mechanical strength and adhesion to the substrate. For the preparation of adhesive slurries, dilute 1 part of Planicrete with 1 part of water, while for the preparation of renders and screeds, dilute 1 part of Planicrete with 2 or 3 parts of water, before mixing it with cement and aggregates. Then place in position.

Mapei Fugolastic

Liquid polymeric additive for Keracolor FF and GG. Applications: Fugolastic is used as a substitute for water to mix Keracolor FF and GG cementitious grouts, to improve the grout compactness, abrasion resistance and reduce porosity and water absorption. Especially suitable for grouting floors subject to heavy traffic, swimming pools, terraces, balconies and façades. N.B. Do not use Fugolastic with Keracolor FF or GG mix for grouting terracotta floors or porous or rough surfaces. When grouting polished porcelain tiles, a preliminary test is recommended to verify its washability.

Mapei Isolastic

Isolastic is a latex additive to be mixed with Kerabond Plus to improve the performance and deformability to satisfy class C2 S2 (improved cementitious adhesive and class S2 (highly deformable adhesive) according to AS ISO 13007 requirements. Adhesives obtained this way are suitable for interior and exterior bonding of all types of ceramic tiles (double-fired, single-fired, quarry tiles, klinker, terracotta, glass mosaics, porcelain tiles, etc.) and stone material on conventional substrates, on concrete, precast concrete panels as long as well cured (3 months), heating panels, fibrous cement, plaster board and wood or wood composition panels as long as they are firmly fixed. Installations can be carried out over gypsum-based or anhydrite surfaces only if specifically primed beforehand.

levelling compounds

Leveling compounds are used to patch, smooth and level a floor before tiling. This can be segmented into three different types; 1. Smoothing compounds these are thinly skimmed on the concrete surface as a top coat to take out any fine defects in localized areas. 2. Self leveling compounds are used to smooth and level and entire floor area. They are poured onto the floor and naturally form a level surface once they they’ve been spread evenly. 3. Non Slump compounds have more body so they tend to stand up higher when placed on the floor. They are used for smoothing, creating falls towards a waste, creating ramps, filling uneven areas of the floor and repairing holes, cracks and defects.

Two-component, high-flexibility cementitious mortar, applied by brush or by roller, for waterproofing concrete surfaces such as balconies, terraces, basins and swimming pools, and for protection against the penetration of aggressive agents.

• Mapelastic Smart is used to form highly flexible, waterproof and protective dressings on concrete structures, even those subject to cracking.

• Mapelast Smart may also be used to cover up micro-cracking in concrete or render.

• Mapelastic Smart is supplied in the form of the two pre-dosed components, which must be mixed together without adding either water or any other ingredient. Mixing ratio: A : B = 2 : 1

• The mortar is applied by brush, roller or spray-rendering machine on surfaces which must be perfectly clean and solid, and which have been dampened with water beforehand.

• With Mapelastic Smart, a levelling layer of up to 2mm thick may be applied in one single coat.

• If the product is to be applied on surfaces which are highly stressed or which have micro-cracking, 4x4.5mm Mapenet 150 must be inserted.

• To further improve both elongation at failure and crack bridging of Mapelastic Smart, we recommend inserting Mapetex Sel, macro-holed non-woven polypropylene fabric.

There are a number of characteristics of adhesives that should be considered when selecting the right adhesive for your job. The surface in which the adhesive is being used either wall or floor, the colour of the tile ( for eg it is always recommended to use a white adhesive on white tiles), the Classification which helps determine the performance of the product, and the required drying time.

Cold Weather, Glue, and Grout

Did you know changes in temperature and humidity greatly affects the cure time of glue and grout?

What are the effects?

• Tile movement

• Aluminum trim corrosion, allergic reactions and dermatitis

Why does this happen?

• At both lower temperatures and higher humidity’s, cure time slows down, slower again when excessive water is applied, for example: sloppy or wet mixtures to level out or “mud up”

• Most glues and grouts are cementitious and alkaline in nature (they have a high pH value)

Here’s the facts: drinking water pH=7, for every 1 pH increase, example: pH=8, alkalinity increases 10x.

So what does all that mean?

• At the bottom is a pH chart. When mixed with water, pH of cementitious glues and grouts is over 13. Prolonged skin exposure to high alkalinity materials can lead to skin irritations, dryness and dermatities. High alkalinity will attack and etch aluminum surfaces. Etching occurs whilst glue and grout are in a mixed uncured state. The longer they take to cure, the longer they are able to attack the aluminium.

How can I avoid these problems?

• Stick to the glue and grout manufacturer’s guidelines about water content, contained in technical data sheets.

• Minimise the amount of glue and grout that contacts aluminum surfaces and clean up as soon as possible.

• Change bucket of water frequently, especially during grout clean up to prevent high pH water contacting the trim.

• Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

• Use a quick set or accelerator material additive, such as Mapei Keraquick S1.

Art Plumbing & Bathroomware International Pty Ltd warrants that Art Plumbing Products & Bounty Bathroomware products will be free from defects for a period of 2 years*.

Warranty Conditions

This warranty commences from date of purchase or for new buildings on the date of handover. This warranty only applies to defects which have arisen solely from faulty materials or workmanship in the Products and does not apply to other defects which may have been caused or contributed to as a result of, without limitation, the following:

• The product not being installed by, or under the supervision of, a licensed tradesperson.

• Accidental damage, abuse, misuse or mistreatment.

• Abnormal stresses on the Product beyond its designed purpose.

• The product not being cleaned properly as per our Care Guidelines and / or generally accepted norms.

• Damage resulting from installation or unapproved modifications.

• Interference with or attempts to repair the Product after the Product has been installed.

* Excludes disposable and single use products including test caps and plugs, dust caps etc.

Note: It is the installer/customers responsibility to ensure:

• The product is not damaged prior to installation.

• They are happy with their purchase.

• The product has all of its components.

• All installation and repair work is carried out by suitably qualified persons.

• Required maintenance and care is performed.

Warranty Claims Process

If you purchased an Art Plumbing Products or Bounty Bathroomware item and it is not of acceptable quality or does not match the description, you can contact Art Plumbing & Bathroomware

• You will need to present your proof of purchase (e.g. your receipt).

• The item will be assessed based on its condition and age – as part of this process the item may be sent away.

• If the item is determined to have a major failure you are entitled to a refund, exchange or repair.

Battrims Warranty Process:

If there is a product to be claimed, a National Tiles representative is to make contact with their relevant Territory Manager, or branch to advise of the claim.

From there, our Territory Manager or local branch will email a Product Claim Form.

The claim form will need to have all relevant requested details filled in with regards to the product, date purchased, Invoice number etc. This is our way to ensure when and where the product was purchased. We also ask for a description of what the issue was, and for images be attached, relating to the issue. This form is then to be emailed to warranty@battrims.com

From there, our system will generate an automatic reply that indicates that the claim has been received, and that there will be every attempt for a final resolution of the issue/claim within 7 days of receipt. The sender would then be advised of the outcome of the claim in writing.

From time to time, claims may take a little longer than 7 days as we may have more questions to ask, or require further information or clarification. We may also ask to inspect the product being claimed, but will stay in contact along the way.

The more information provided at the beginning of the claim will always assist us with a quicker determination.

MAPEI Australia Pty Ltd (“MAPEI”), subject to the full terms and conditions, warrants that our products will be free from manufacturing defects and will not fail under normal usage for a period of 10 years from date of purchase. In order to perform (or have performed) the services described in the prior sentence, the owner of the site consents to total access for such services and agrees to pay for those services and all related costs of MAPEI if the claim is invalid under this warranty. Your claim must be received and evaluated by us before any repair work is performed; otherwise, this warranty will be null and void.

HIDE Skimmer Lids Pty Ltd warranty process:

If a product is to be claimed, a National Tiles representative will contact the relevant Skimmer Lids Territory Manager or Head Office to advise of the claim.

From there, the National Tiles representative will ask for detailed photos of the issue, a description, and proof of purchase documentation.

The National Tiles representative will then email all information to the HIDE Territory Manager or Head Office, where the claim will be considered, with every attempt to resolve the issue/claim within 7 days of receipt. The more information provided at the beginning of the claim will always assist us with a quicker determination.

Stainless Steel has a 20-year warranty against manufacture defects but does not cover misuse such as acid or High PH liquid contact or non-compliance with the care & maintenance requirements.

As part of our commitment to quality we provide 1 year’s guarantee on all Hand Tool products provided that they have been used, at all times, in the correct manner. However in many cases, due to the exceptional quality of the products, we give much longer guarantees on some products. If an item has been incorrectly supplied, received damaged or is faulty then all you need to do is arrange collection of the item(s) free of charge.

Without limiting the generality of this clause, in particular any loss or damage consequential or otherwise however suffered or incurred by any person caused by or resulting directly or indirectly from any failure, breakdown, defect or deficiency of whatsoever nature or kind of or in the Goods. 13. Manufacturers 15 Year Warranty

SAS Australasia Pty Ltd products are manufactured to the highest quality and to the relevant Australian Standards and are QC tested before being despatched to our customers.

The 15-year warranty is from the date of manufacture and is provided for the SAS products that are stored correctly and used as per our Technical data sheets.

All workmanship during installation must be carried out in accordance with the relevant Australian standards.

The consumer must notify SAS Australasia Pty Ltd of any alleged defect or failure of the product.

SAS Australasia reserves the right to inspect any alleged failure or defected product. No responsibility will be accepted unless a representative of SAS Australasia Pty Ltd has inspected the alleged failure.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR AUSTRALIAN CONSUMERS

Sigma offers a 5 year warranty on their tile cutters. This warranty is based on normal use not where the products has been deemed to be abused or misused. For any warranty claims, the Tile cutter must be returned to place of purchase (with proof of purchase). A video or photograph must be used to demonstrate the issue and problem with the product. National tiles will contact sigma for approval to return the goods for inspection for approval of the warranty claim.

If you wish to make a claim you must notify a National Tiles representative immediately in writing of any alleged defect or failure. National Tiles will then notify and forward any correspondence to Spirit Sealers & Cleaners.

Spirit Sealers & Cleaners sole liability shall be limited to the replacement of the purchased product only and does not extend to any product which has been modified in any way or which has not been used in accordance with Spirit Sealers & Cleaners’ written instructions.

Since the use of this product is beyond the control of either the seller or the manufacturer, their only obligation shall be to replace any quantity of product that is proved defective. They cannot assume any risk or liability for results obtained, or can they accept damages in excess of the price of the product itself, which does not include labour or consequential damages resulting from the use of this product.
