DAYS 1–2 | EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND/ LOCH LOMOND AND THE TROSSACHS NATIONAL PARK/GLEN COE

Arrive in Edinburgh and discover the city’s Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Hike up Conic Hill in Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park—Scotland’s first national park. Take in views across Loch Lomond to the peaks of the Arrochar Alps. Continue to our hotel in Glen Coe, one of Scotland’s stunning valleys. Bruntsfield Hotel; Kingshouse Hotel | Meals: 1B, 1L, 2D

DAYS 3–4 | GLEN COE/ISLE OF SKYE

Explore breathtaking Glen Coe today. Walk along the Devil’s Staircase—part of the West Highland Way—and take in magnificent views of the West Highlands. Descend to the village of Kinlochleven, then stop for a drink and a traditional storytelling session at the historic Clachaig Inn. Head north to Fort William and join a conservationist and John Muir historian for a guided hike. Cross the sea to the Isle of Skye, stopping to visit Eilean Donan Castle. DAYS 5–8 | ISLE OF SKYE/PERTHSHIRE/ EDINBURGH

Explore the spectacular landscapes of northern Skye. Hike beneath the unusual rock formations of the Quiraing and learn its fascinating story of geologic turmoil. Hike through a wild glen on a journey through Skye’s famous mountains—the Black Cuillin and Red Cuillin ranges—and take in a stunning vista. Later, explore the enchanting woodlands and heather-draped moorlands of Highland Perthshire, then return to Edinburgh for your flight home. He manages the Environmental Learning Institute; and teaches oceanography, conservation biology, and tectonics at several international universities. A fellow of the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Asia Society, David was executive science director at the Earthwatch Institute and helped launch AmeriCorps.
