DAYS 1–7 I WASHINGTON, D.C., U.S./ CARTAGENA, COLOMBIA/RIO DE JANEIRO AND IGUAÇU FALLS, BRAZIL Gather at National Geographic headquarters before flying to Cartagena. Explore this UNESCO World Heritage site on a variety of excursions, from a walking tour to a culinary experience. Fly to Rio de Janeiro, and take in the views from the Christ the Redeemer statue and Sugarloaf Mountain. Visit the lab of a National Geographic grantee at Rio’s Botanical Garden, or see Samba City, where Carnival floats are prepared. Then explore Iguaçu Falls from the Argentine and Brazilian sides.

DAYS 8–16 I TORRES DEL PAINE NATIONAL PARK, CHILE/BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA/PERU Spend two days exploring and hiking in Torres del Paine National Park. Fly to Buenos Aires and discover the city on guided tours and a range of activities, from a tango lesson to a street artthemed bike tour. Learn about gaucho culture at a traditional estancia before traveling to Lima, Peru. Choose one of three excursions: visit Cusco and Machu Picchu; explore the floating islands of Lake Titicaca; or stay in an eco-lodge in the Amazon rainforest.

DAYS 17–22 I PANAMA CANAL, PANAMA/ TIKAL AND ANTIGUA, GUATEMALA/ MIAMI, FLORIDA, U.S. In Panama City, enjoy a private dinner in the Frank Gehry–designed Biomuseo. Explore the Panama Rainforest Discovery Center, and cruise a portion of the Panama Canal or visit an indigenous community. Venture to the Maya city of Tikal, Guatemala for the day before flying to charming Antigua. Here, we have a choice of activities, including a coffee farm visit and a hike on Pacaya Volcano.
