When I first entered the transportation industry, it was heavily male at the supervisory and management level, even our dispatch office was all male. As a result, I also saw a lot of stubbornness and a bit of a locker room mentality. I made it one of my first pushes as a manager to involve more female employees in higher positions. It worked unbelievably well, and both our dispatch office and management team benefited from a whole new set of ideas and experiences. To this day, CDT in Chicago has maintained a high level of female managers, supervisors, and dispatchers. I see that same belief echoed through our management team throughout Shuttle and Transit and I am excited to see the continuing benefits of a diverse workforce.
