In 1900, NCS opened its doors to just over 50 students.
In 2025, NCS delivers transformational educational experiences to nearly 600 students and has seen thousands of young women graduate, going on to make lasting, positive impacts on the world. Many credit their NCS experience as pivotal in shaping them into the individuals they are today.
While much has evolved—for example, today’s Grace Chapel had a previous life as Whitby Gymnasium—what remains constant is our belief in the spark that lies in each of our students, ignited by their teachers, fellow students,
A spark to learn and try new things, to speak up and get involved, make a positive difference, and above all, a spark to support each other.
We celebrate our 125th anniversary, not simply with candles and cake, but also as a moment to reflect on our history and chart a course for the future—doing so in ways to give us a chance to continue to strengthen our community as we root for each other, and for NCS.
In addition to Reunion Weekend 2025, please mark your calendars for our 125th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, Oct. 17, in the Washington National Cathedral.

The greatest way to honor your milestone Reunion, support the needs of current students, and express appreciation for your time at and after NCS, is to participate in the Purple & Gold Fund (formerly known as the Annual Fund).
As you celebrate your milestone reunion, we hope you will consider making a gift of personal significance to the Purple & Gold Fund—our top fundraising priority.
Please scan the QR code below or go to ncs.cathedral.org/reunion/reunion-giving to make a Reunion gift.
Reunion classes are eligible for two giving awards:
The Board of Visitors Trophy goes to the class with the most dollars raised for National Cathedral School (Purple & Gold Fund, endowment, etc.).
The Hollerith-Ouverson Award recognizes the class with the highest percent participation in this year’s Purple & Gold Fund.
Both awards will be presented during Saturday’s Alumnae Awards Luncheon.
Make a gift!
In honor of our 125th anniversary, NCS has reserved the Virginia Mae Center (formerly known as the College of Preachers) for Reunion Weekend 2025! We look forward to hosting events in this space and across the Close throughout the weekend.
