Discover the ideas shaping the future of building and design at Futurebuild Australia.
Welcome to Futurebuild Australia 2026. I can’t wait for you to see what we have in store.
The way buildings are designed, constructed and upgraded is evolving. New materials, systems and technologies are entering the market at pace, while the pressure to deliver projects faster and to higher performance standards continues to grow.
As a result, the conversation has shifted. It’s no longer just about design intent. It’s about delivery, cost certainty, performance and buildability. Increasingly, it’s about how teams work together to get there. We’re seeing closer collaboration between architects and builders much earlier in the process, resolving design challenges upfront and a clear rise in early contractor involvement. The result is more aligned teams, fewer surprises on site, and stronger outcomes across design, construction and development.
Futurebuild Australia has been curated to be a practical, solution-led exhibition driven by these shifts. A place to see and compare building products, materials and technology – and understand how they can be applied to your projects. From building envelope and structural systems, prefabrication, low carbon materials and digital tools, you are sure to discover something new you can use on your next project.
Alongside all of this, our free to attend education programme provides the opportunity to learn about the realities of how projects are being delivered today. You’ll hear directly from leaders working under the same pressures you face every day, sharing what’s working, and where they’ve had to adapt.
I’m confident you’ll leave the show having discovered new products and solutions that can be applied directly to your projects. You’ll have reconnected with peers and met new ones. And through our lineup of thought leaders, you’ll gain practical insights about what to specify, where to focus, and how to move projects forward with greater confidence.
Looking ahead to 2027, we’re expanding the platform into the country’s fastest growing market, with the launch of Futurebuild Queensland in March. Futurebuild Australia will evolve into a standalone national event to be held in Sydney in September.
I look forward to seeing you on the show floor.

Ash North Event Director Futurebuild Australia

This event comes at a time when the building industry across NSW and Australia is busier than ever. We have strong population growth, a large pipeline of projects, and increasing pressure to deliver buildings that are safe, durable and fit for purpose. In this environment, getting the fundamentals right really matters. Clear regulatory compliance, appropriate product selection, and robust design, certification and construction practices are essential to maintaining confidence for clients, occupants and the wider community.
Government has an important role in setting expectations and enforcing standards, but regulation alone isn’t enough. Good outcomes depend on the capability of the industry itself - on skilled professionals, reliable systems, and a shared commitment to quality at every stage of a project.
That’s why events like Futurebuild Australia are so valuable. They bring together the people who make real decisions every day - designers, engineers, builders, developers and suppliers. When the whole supply chain works together, projects are easier to deliver well, and problems are less likely to arise later.
As we continue to build at scale, the challenge is not just building more but building better. That means designs that can be built properly, products that perform as expected, and clear responsibility from start to finish.
I encourage you to use this event to share ideas, learn from each other, and consider how we can keep lifting the standard of building across our industry.

Attend any industry event and you’ll hear the same refrain. Work is strong. Pipelines are full. Demand is there. And yet, everyone knows something isn’t quite adding up.
We are being asked to deliver more homes, more infrastructure, more everything. Faster, cheaper, greener. But the way we build hasn’t fundamentally changed. We’re still solving today’s problems with yesterday’s model.
That model won’t get the job done.
Start with the headline challenge. Australia has set a target to build 1.2 million homes in five years. That’s not a marginal increase. Our modelling suggests housing supply would need to lift by around 40 per cent, backed by roughly 117,000 additional construction workers.
Second, governments are stepping in. Hospitals, infrastructure, renewables, Defence projects, and the Olympics. The pipeline is increasingly driven by public policy as much as private development.
Third, costs have reset. Construction inputs surged during the pandemic and have not come back down. They will not come back down. The industry is operating on a permanently higher cost base.
On top of all this, we are facing demographic headwinds that are shrinking our workforce. At the same time, regulation continues to tighten and performance standards are rising. Climate risk is rising. These are not passing trends.
History shows the industry can surge, but never by that much or for that long.
For decades, the sector has behaved like a household trying to make ends meet by checking the couch for loose change. A few more apprentices here. A bit more migration there. Maybe bring a few people back from other sectors. It all helps at the margin. But it’s still pocket money thinking.
The task in front of us isn’t to scrape together spare coins. It’s to fund a step-change in output. You don’t do that by digging deeper into the cushions. You do it by changing how the whole household runs.
Construction faces the same choice. Do we keep trying to squeeze more juice out of a dry lemon, or change how the juice is made altogether?
This brings us to a word the industry loves to talk about but rarely confronts: “productivity.” Yes, it’s a buzzword. But strip it back and it’s simply the search for force multipliers – the changes that allow us to deliver more built environment assets with the same workforce.
Productivity growth is the real, practical business of industry transformation.
It’s about shifting effort upstream into design and planning, where decisions carry real leverage. It’s about industrialising the process so work is repeatable, not reinvented every time. It’s about using digital tools to cut errors and rework. And it’s about adopting new products that make construction faster and more reliable.
Think of it this way. A 10 per cent lift in construction productivity would deliver the equivalent of 150,000 extra workers, without hiring a single one. That’s the scale of the opportunity.
So what actually moves the dial?
It starts early in the process. Smarter design and planning that involves builders and manufacturers upfront. The old hard dollar, construct only mentality gives way to genuine collaboration, systems thinking, and integrated delivery.
It then runs through the supply chain. Designing around proven systems and products that arrive ready to install, not ready to fabricate. More value is locked in off-site, where components are engineered, standardised and quality controlled before they reach site.
It moves into production. Bringing a manufacturing logic to the build process drives standardisation, repeatability, and efficiency. Industrialised construction transforms building from a series of one-off, hand-made projects into a lean, digitally powered production system.
Of course, none of this is new. It’s all already happening. But it’s happening unevenly. Pockets of innovation in a sector that, overall, still runs on traditional lines. That gap needs to close if we’re going to meet the nation’s ambition for the built environment.
We are past the point of prototypes and pilots. The solutions are commercially viable, being deployed at scale, and visible across the market. The question is no longer whether they work. It is how they can be more widely specified, procured and embedded as standard practice.
It has been done before. Every major leap forward in industrial history has come from the same logic. Break down the process and standardise what you can. Use technology to drive labour efficiencies and shift human effort to where it adds the most value.
Construction has been slower to make that shift. But external pressures are now forcing the issue. So the question for everyone walking the floor is a simple one: will you pick up what’s already here, or keep building the old way?

The New Standard in Composite Decking with German Technology

At Adbri, we have been building the foundations of Australia for over 140 years, supplying locally manufactured cement, concrete, aggregates and masonry products that support the homes, roads, infrastructure and industries shaping our nation.
We are proud to be the name behind materials that stand the test of time, trusted by generations of engineers, builders and project owners across the country.
As construction standards evolve and decarbonisation becomes more critical, so do our solutions. Leveraging decades of technical expertise, verified Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs), and a strong focus on innovation, Adbri is developing mix designs and material technologies that deliver both performance and lower embodied carbon.
Our Future Ready range includes:
EvoCem® – Australia’s first Type GL cement, enabling more efficient and lower carbon mix designs without compromising strength or durability
Futurecrete® – A lower carbon concrete solution using reduced carbon cement and supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs)
EvoFusion™ – A next generation binder technology engineered to improve consistency and reduce embodied carbon in concrete
The next generation of construction demands smarter solutions and stronger foundations built with Adbri.
