ARCHIBUILD EXPO

Welcome

Hello Melbourne!

Discover the ideas shaping the future of building and design at ArchiBuild Expo 2025.

Welcome to ArchiBuild Expo 2025. We’re thrilled to welcome you to ArchiBuild Expo 2025, where the future of architecture, building, and design is shaped by innovation, sustainability, and genuine industry collaboration.

This year marks a significant milestone for ArchiBuild Expo, and we’re proud to introduce the FutureBuild Neighbourhood, our new dedicated space showcasing cutting-edge solutions for the sustainable future of the built environment. The FutureBuild Neighbourhood is a key feature of this year’s event, bringing together groundbreaking innovations in materials, technologies, and sustainable design practices. This curated space highlights the latest advancements that are driving the industry toward Net-Zero and Nature Positive goals.

In a fast-evolving landscape—where climate, technology, and regulation are transforming the built environment— staying ahead means leading with purpose. That’s why ArchiBuild Expo is a platform where inspiration meets application, and innovative ideas are brought to life with real-world impact.

At the heart of our free education program in Theatre One is this year’s theme: Built to Last: Resilience, Regeneration & Responsibility. We’ll dive deep into what it means to design and build for the long term—exploring climate-ready construction, material innovation, and regenerative design principles. Delivered through expert-led sessions, practical insights, and real-world case studies, this program is designed to empower you with the tools to make meaningful change.

We’re also proud to continue our collaboration with the Australian Institute of Architects (RAIA) to deliver CPDaccredited content through the Refuel Programme, ensuring architectural professionals remain at the forefront of industry best practices.

This year, we’re excited to introduce The Workshop, designed by Hassell in collaboration with Edward Linacre, Studio Round, and Indetail. Built entirely from salvaged materials, this live, immersive installation celebrates reuse, sustainability, and intentional design, providing a powerful experience for all attendees.

Another show highlight is Central Park, presented by Curvecrete—an Australian-first installation that demonstrates how low-carbon design and cutting-edge fabrication are shaping the future of architecture. This feature embodies the innovative spirit that defines ArchiBuild Expo.

In addition to these exciting features, ArchiBuild Expo is filled with incredible manufacturers, suppliers, and thought leaders from across the built environment. From leading building material companies to cutting-edge technology providers, this year’s show floor is packed with industry leaders offering solutions that span the residential, commercial, and infrastructure sectors.

Whether you’re here to discover the latest products, earn CPD points, or forge valuable industry connections, ArchiBuild Expo is your place to explore what’s next and help shape the future of the built environment.

We’ll see you again in Sydney, 11-13 June 2026. Until then, let’s build what lasts.

FutureBuild Neighbourhood features

The Workshop, a hub for circular design

At ArchiBuild Expo 2025, the Future Build neighbourhood showcases innovative and sustainable materials. In the heart of this precinct sits The Workshop by international design firm Hassell, Studio Round, Indetail and Edward Linacre — an open, adaptable space dedicated to conversation, knowledge, and networking. Its design proposition is simply: “Old materials. New ideas.”

OLD MATERIALS

Scan for agenda.

THE WORKSHOP

NEW IDEAS

Hosting a dynamic programme of talks, roundtables and making sessions The Workshop champions collaboration. It’s not only a collaboration between some of Australia’s leading design and construction professionals, it also acts as an interactive space for thought leaders, speakers, architects, designers, makers, developers, builders and the public who are all invited to use the space throughout the three day Expo.

Developed through Hassell’s regenerative design process, The Workshop is deliberately designed as a series of simple elements using no virgin material.

Rather than create something new to demonstrate future possibilities the design and construction team collective chose to work with what already exists, positioning The Workshop as an open system nested within larger systems: the FutureBuild Neighbourhood, the Expo, the building industry, and the city of Melbourne. Mapping collaborators, suppliers and communities helped to understand the relationships that shape places, people, and materials, and this process revealed rich opportunities to borrow, recover, and reimagine.

Designed with materials at a specific point in their lifecycle - materials that have a past, are still useful in the present, and will go on to live another life - the design process was iterative, driven by what material was available rather than a fixed blueprint or pre-conceived design outcome. The Workshop is constructed almost entirely from reused, borrowed, and upcycled components and materials that define the built form, the details and the experience.

Spatially, The Workshop is defined by a collection of components arranged to support multiple modes of gathering, thinking, sharing and doing. Speakers are positioned centrally to facilitate an equitable and circular exchange of ideas and there is no single entry or exit point allowing people to engage in the way they feel most comfortable.

The Workshop doesn’t claim to have all the answers but instead invites discussion, observation, imagination, and creativity. By working with off cuts and old materials it aims to reframe value - not as something derived from novelty, but from embedded stories, durability over time and connection to place. It is an invitation to reflect on what design can do when we prioritise reuse, creativity, and collaboration.

Throughout ArchiBuild Expo 2025, The Workshop offers a testing ground for industry and a space where people, ideas and materials converge. The hope is that its spirit endures long after the temporary materials have been returned or repurposed, to speculate on how we can decouple innovation from newness and understand more about what real circularity looks like in design practice.

Future of Housing Construction: How prefabricated building is better, safer, smarter and gaining traction

Australia has a goal of building 1.2 million homes by 2029, but Treasury research has exposed that the supply of new homes in Australia is falling even further behind the rest of the world. Prefabricated building is not new, but it is better than ever. Join us to learn about how building in factory conditions unlocks efficiencies, drives better building and is the way to move construction into a zero-waste, circular economy.
